Spectrum XT Touchsmart 15-1410n: does not detect the new hard drive

After the upgrade to Windows 10 my hard drive divided into 9 different partitions, and most of them have been corrupted and I couldn't save it. I bought a new hard drive (HGST Travelstar 7K 1000) and replaced my old drive. I used a USB stick to boot and install Ubuntu 14.04 detected but only a 32GB Samsung drive and not my HGST 1 TB drive. How can I fix it? I would like to be able to access my new drive. Google says to mess with the SATA controller, but I can't do it in my BIOS. Any suggestions?

You are not it is hidden. In my view, that Magical Jelly Bean can pull the Code out of the BIOS license once Windows is installed, but if you reinstall the same OS (Windows 8, correct version) it will be ignited automatically the first time that you connect to the internet.

    Any help?

    Hello

I think that the new HARD drive is not recognized, because you have not installed the SATA drivers!
The new mobile phones support the new SATA controller and especially the drivers are not included in the Windows operating system.

So, you must first include the SATA drivers before install you the operating system.
AFAIK the L305D supports an AMD and ATI chipset and SATA drivers must be placed in the ATI graphics driver package.

On the other hand, you could install the operating system without the use of SATA drivers.
I think that the BIOS must contain the SATA mode option. Usually it s set to AHCI. Pass this option in compatibility mode and you should be able to install the operating system.

    Cheers mate

  • Tecra 8000 does not recognize the new HARD drive

I read on this forum and Google search, but nothing helped.

I think the disk on Tecra 8000 (Pentium II, 266 Mhz) is "dead".
I tried to replace it with another laptop to see if that would work.

The laptop does not, even if I put just like the original.
Y at - it somehow special or what I have to change something in the Bios?

    Hello

Don t need to change BIOS settings

As long as you use the compatible HARD disk, the BIOS should recognize the HARD drive automatically without big problems
What drive did you use? What size, interface, etc.

The Tecra 8000 is an oldie and I think that you could use only the 4 GB; 6 GB; 9 GB; 10 GB; 14GB IDE hard drives.

More large hard disks would be not recognized by the BIOS.

  • Windows 7 does not recognize the new hard drive during installation

My Pavilion hard drive died.  I ordered a new identical and it arises.  Windows 7 starts to load (since a key USB as my DVD died a long time ago) and gets it Windows on the screen asking me to select a player.  But there is no choice to drive in the menu and I can't go any further.  Is the new drive dead too?  Someone suggested that I need to reinstall a 'chip game' and if that's the problem, how to do that?  Thank you!!

I'm glad that the hard drive is seen now.  To the extent where the DVD player, if you have purchased a new DVD player for the laptop, and you have it installed, then there is something else involved here.  In this MANUAL, it seems that it is just a simple operation change out.  Must be another reason it does not work or is recognized in the BIOS.

  • My Satellite phone does not recognize the external hard drive

I recently bought a Toshiba Satellite with Windows 7 Home Premium 32 bit. "G / is not accessible.
    Access is denied. "

I called the manufacturer of the external hard drive (Seagate) & they told me that it is a windows problem.

can someone help me? ... Thank you

  • Windows 7 does not detect multiple external hard drives

I recently bought a HP Pavilion laptop to 7 Home Premium. I have two 500 GB external hard drives. When I connect them individually to the system, they are recognized and I can copy files to and from these External Drives. But when I try to connect both at the same time, Windows 7 does not detect the drive I connect then. Any help is greatly appreciated.

If the disks are powered by the USB bus and do not have their own external power supply the problem is that the laptop does not provide sufficient USB power to control both.

The USB specification, is that each port should provide 500mA at 5V. To keep their batteries, laptops usually provide 500mA to share between all available ports. If you need to use several USB devices with significant power, you must either externally powered USB hub or to provide the devices with their own power supply to cutting.

  • Windows Update does not work after new hard drive

After you install the new hard drive, when I click on windows update, it opens, makes his scan, then I get the message, (the website has encountered a problem and cannot display the page) I have a Dell Optiplex 745 running XP Pro, Explorer 8, have tried several times and restarted, please help.

What do you think of will be without safety last cumulative update for IE8 be manually downloaded and installed before going to windows update to nothing at all.  What will happen is the CPU at 100% and a whole lot of nothing else of fortification.

Do not go in line with the hopes of getting the updates of windows after the installation of SP3.

Disable automatic updates in Control Panel > automatc updates > disable automatic updates

Start > run > wuaucpl.cpl > disable automatic updates > apply (if the setting is changed) > OK

Get the exe to install offline full download for IE8 [should represent approximately a 16 MB file] and then install IE8 after SP3 and the decline of the ability to download updates for IE8 at installation time.

Then manually download and install the current cumulative security for IE8 update and restart the computer.

visit Windows Update through your browser link in the start menu.  Consent to any ActiveX install queries and validation / advantage genuine offer and cross your fingers.

It is possible that you may still have questions, but this will reduce some of the problems if you follow the recommended sequence.

  • not sure: the new hard drive installation

I have a Desktop allows a hard disk which is a failure.  F9 during boot diagnostics say its bad.  I just got the HP recovery disk and I'm not sure that 'when' to instaqll them.  I put the OS on the new hard drive and then first run the recovery or recovery disk?

If you have the recovery disk set for this PC, run recovery on the new hard drive.  To install everything back like it was new again.  The installation of the OS process is executing the recovery.  Install the new hard drive, and then run the set of recovery disks.

  • Windows 7 does not detect my external hard drive

Window 7 is able to detect my external hard drive under devices and printers, it is able to detect the hard drive, and there is no problem for her.  but only shows no not my external hard drive under my computer icon so I can't drag files

How can I find the hard drive and put the files?

    Thank you

    OK follow the instructions;

    • Click the windows icon
    • Right click on computer > then click on scabies
    • on the left, under storage, click Disk Management

now the hard tip. You must identify which is your external hard drive. It should say something like disc 1 - online (if you have other removable things such as memory card readers may be something like disk5). DO NOT TOUCH DISK 0 (c) because it is your operating system and nothing change may / will kill the system.

It doesn't have a letter from dirve allocated on the external drive then left and right click then click on change drive letter and paths.

Assign a new letter perhaps something like L: as who should enter into conflict with what it is then ok the windows... it should now appear.

Yet once just to reiterate do not assign c: or touch disk 0. you have been warned.

Here is a link with pretty pictures to help you a bit

The most difficult part is to find what is your hard drive. Good luck. If you're worried you can take a screenshot of the management of the computer and upload it to your skydrive. We would advise you that it is.

    Hope that helps...

    There is no partition inside?
