Download folder permissions seeds after Time Machine

I recently restored my downloads folder full of time Machine to the top by car. I HAVE NOT USE TIME MACHINE for THIS... just slip and fall.

A LOT of the files/folders have a permissions or problem of blocking or something.

When I try to delete them, I get the "Finder wants to make changes. Type your password to allow this. "message.

HOW CAN I FIX IT?

Permissions for individual files look right. Locked is not checked.

Downloads folder looks like this, but I don't know if this is right.

I used Onyx to "repair permissions" on the drive, but that has not changed anything.

Can anyone help?

This procedure is a diagnostic test. It makes no changes to your data.

I tested these instructions only with the Safari browser. This is what I suggest you use, even if your favorite browser is something else.

Please triple - click anywhere in the line below on this page to select:

Copy the selected text in the Clipboard by pressing Control-C key combination.

Launch the Terminal application integrated in one of the following ways:

☞ Enter the first letters of his name in a Spotlight search. Select from the results (it should be at the top).

☞ In the Finder, select go utilities ▹ of menu bar or press the combination of keys shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.

☞ Open LaunchPad and start typing the name.

Paste in the Terminal window by pressing the command-V key combination. If you use another browser, you may need to press the return key after pasting.

Wait for a new line ending with a dollar sign ($) below what you entered.

The output of the command will be automatically copied to the Clipboard. If the command produces no output, the Clipboard is empty. Paste into a reply to this message.

The Terminal window does not display the output. Please do not copy from there.

  • Win 7 hangs after Time Machine restore - Fusion v8.02

New to the group, but a user of merger for a long time on a MacBook Pro 2009.

It's a little complicated, but here are the facts:

I have experienced a complete hard drive failure but had the system saved Time machine. After installing the new drive (Samsung 850 EVO SSD, 500 GB), I installed Snow Leopard from a dvd. I then did a restore from Time Machine since the last backup and most things worked very well. However, when I started Fusion (v8.0 at the time), I got the blue screen of death in Windows 7. After a few attempts, he found a remedy that helped win 7 to start normally and everything seemed to work fine. So I decided to upgrade the OS to El Capitan, and I'm back to the blue screen of death of Win 7. Nothing I've tried has worked to get Windows started, I can't start even in Safe Mode.

I tried a manual uninstall complete Fusion 8 and reinstalled, but no change. I don't have much on the partition for Windows, really, just 3 programs I can not run in OS X, no storage data here either. Time, as I see it, I have two choices: 1) do an another Time Machine restore and downgrade of El Capitan by returning to the previous configuration. (2) do a complete reinstallation of Windows 7 and Fusion.

If there is a way to just do a reinstall of Windows, I'm ready for that, too. (However, since the upgrade of the El Capitan I can't use the optical dvd drive with all disks based on Windows... already reported)

    Any help would be appreciated.

As a follow-up, not long after my post, I get a call from VmWare support. (I submitted a ticket) Most excellent service. She takes control of my computer remotely and speaks to me through a new facility and a new virtual machine. I had downloaded a new version of Win 7 for installation and all went well.

During the conversation I forget I wanted to install Win 10, but my system was apparently not compatible due to a graphics card or driver. She informs me that she has a solution for this and I am trying to install Win 10.

  • How to restore a folder and subfolders using Time Machine (TM)?

I need to restore a folder and all its files and subfolders, with the latest at a specific date.

I'm running Yosemite (10.10.5) and plan to upgrade to El Capitan, shortly.

To the restored file, includes everything I have he would have seen that day.  Some folders/subfolders may not have changed for a long time (years).  Others may have changed recently.

An example of this is the Evernote database folder.  In order to recover some of the notes that have been deleted or modified, I need to restore my folder of Evernote completely because it was on a certain date.  It must include all files/folders that I've had to this date.

    How can I do this?

I did a lot of research, a lot of research, read many documents (including Apple) on the use of TM, and I can't find any information that explains how to do this.

If TM can do, there's another backup system which can, would you recommend for this?

  • EA6500 unable to connect to the router after Time Machine

Just got an EA6500 - updated to the latest firmware available.

I have attached 2 x WD NAS and 1 x WD through the USB port of the device.

Each time after I finished running Time Machine on the MacBookPro (written to one of the WD NAS), I can no more connection to the router as neither the local IP, or the cisco connect cloud. The error message I get (loosely formulated) is: unable to connect to the router. Please ensure that the router is connected to the internet.

At this point, all the devices connected to the router (wired and wireless) still can access Internet perfectly. Only the console of the router is therefore more accessible.

    Anyone else have the issue?

Any ideas on how to solve it?

Contact support for Cisco and the person advised me to do a factory reset (even if the router is new with no customization!). Regardless, it now works correctly. Cisco Cloud Connect works always before, during, and after a Time Machine.

  • Fusion ".pdx file is corrupt" after Time Machine restore - MacOS 10.10.4/Fusion 7.1.2 Please help!

I'm under Fusion 7.1.2 on Mac OS 10.10.4 Yosemite and have a virtual Windows 7 machine. I recently had my hard drive of 3T, replaced by a reminder of Apple. After restoring my Mac Time Machine, I get an error message ".pdx file is corrupt" to this virtual machine when I try to start a merger. Windows 7 will not start. I searched the forums and do not see a solution. Can someone help me with this?

Don't know what was the cause, but please delete the last line of the virtual machine configuration (.vmx) file. For some reason any file with a truncated line ends ""/library/settings ": No such'which causes a syntax error when starting." Please edit the file with merger closed, so that the file is reread after manually editing.

  • Adobe PCD folder permissions change after the launch of CS5 programs

There is a seemingly important issue for Creative Suite

    5 licenses: C:\program files (x 86) \common files\adobe\adobe pcd

Unfortunately the default permissions after installation (standard installation or install Adobe enterprise deployment tools) are:

    Everyone: read

    Administrators: Full control

This is a problem for the use of the software, if your users are not local administrators.

If you change the permissions of the folder to grant access to other users, launch InDesign or Photoshop, Adobe PCD permissions back to their original settings.  I checked my permissions to save well by closing and reopening the folder permissions.  It is only after a CS5 program was launched to return permissions.

How can I get residence permits?  So far, I make people admins local, which is not good, if they find out.  They will install all kinds of crapware and legitimate crappy software and break their computers more far.

    Thank you

Found a solution to get Acrobat 9 Professional to work without giving users admin rights.

1.), connect as admininstrator and give the control total of users on the following folders and all content (replace permissions on all child objects):

    • File Adobe in Program files.
    • Adobe common files folder.
    • Files common Macrovision.

Run 2) program as admin first to get rid of some of the regisration and user login guests to try.  It should work now.

  • PSE 8 fails to run on the new drive hard iMac after Time Machine backup

I had to have my iMac drive replaced the week last in the replacement of the Apple program. After installing the new drive, I restored the whole Machine on the new drive Time backup. Most things work perfectly, but I get an error message when I try to run PSE 8. The error is 150:30 of error indicating "license has stopped working". I tried a number of things to correct this as described in http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/global/error-licensing-stopped-mac-os.html, but found that most of the FlexNet referring to article data does not exist on my machine, so I am unable to complete the recommended steps (I did the hidden files visible). Also the Flexnet files do not appear on the backup volume. When I try to reload the software with the original disks I have just the player to make some noise and then eject it. All the other CD/DVD to work as usual. Very welcome ideas

    Hello

I have problems with a shared drive mapped, sitting on a Forefront TMG server on the same domain.

The problem is that I had access to a folder on the TMG server logs. Everything works very well for about 6 hours and then I lose access and I get an error message indicating that I do not have the permissions to access the folder, even if I do.

Both servers are running Microsoft Server 2008 R2 64-bit.

The two are running Mcafee anti-virus.

Please help urgently, as this becomes a problem enough.

  • Recovering data from a Time Machine to an external drive backup

How to recover data from a backup Time Machine to an external drive?

I use Time Machine to back up data (photos, videos) on an external drive (drive A) to another external drive (drive/B) separate that I use for Time Machine backups. After performing a backup, the external drive (drive A) appears in TimeMachine and can I recover files that are on the external drive (A) just as I can for the files that are found on the internal hard drive.

I need to know what to do if I drop my external drive (drive A) completely and you want to recover the Time Machine backup on a new replacement drive?  When I disconnect my external drive (A) and enter the Time Machine, I don't find a way to access the files to recover.  Still... I know they are there!

  • To access the template Pages on Time Machine

    Hello

I'm tying to access my template Pages stored on my time from a laptop Machine. I have access to the time machine but can't seem to find the record that I'm looking.

On the laptop that I use, I use the "Go to the Finder folder" option and enter "~/Library/Containers/com.apple.iWork.Pages/Data/Library/Application Support/User Templates. It takes me to the page templates on the laptop that I use.

I am wanting to use this same command inside the time Machine to Access Pages templates that are placed in memory.

I tried 'Shift - command - G' and entering "~/Library/Containers/com.apple.iWork.Pages/Data/Library/Application Support/User Templates", but it just brings back me to the Pages of laptop models, not the machines of the era.

    Your help is appreciated,

    Stophen.

Use the step to go on record to land inside your local user Pages v5 models folder as you have indicated.

Then click the Time Machine icon in your Dock. This will open the same folder of your last Time Machine backup location. You can then select a current model to restore or go back in the history of Time Machine and select a model in a previous backup, Time Machine. When you find the model you're looking for, click on restore.

  • Time Machine, do not let me restore my emails that have been put on the archive before backup

    Hello

I have made a backup of my emails in Time Machine in August 2014 & wanted to restore to the current version of my Mac OS X 10.11, but unfortunately it is not let me recover those email, please help me how do.

Although you can restore a snapshot of Time Machine messages in the Mail application, it usually will not work with messages that were saved by an outdated version of the mail. In this case, you must use another method.

Please triple - click anywhere in the line below on this page to select:

    ~/Library/Mail

Right-click or Ctrl-click on the highlighted line and select

    Services ▹ Open

the contextual menu.* should open a folder.

Enter Time Machine and scroll to the snapshot that you want to restore from. The folder named "Mail" are appointed "V2" and/or "V3" subfolders (depending on the version of Mac OS X that was used when the snapshot was taken.) Inside of one of these subfolders are several subfolders representing your e-mail accounts. The name refers to the email addresses that you use. Select the account folders you want and then select

    Restoration of the... to the...

in the action menu (gear icon) in the toolbar of the Snapshot window. Restore the files on the desktop and not in their original location.

Import the mailbox in the folders that you restored to the office. The imported messages appear in a new mailbox. Move those you want to keep everywhere where you want and delete the rest. Then, delete the files on the desktop.

    * If you do not see the item context menu copy the selected text in the Clipboard by pressing Control-C key combination. In the Finder, select

Go ▹ go to the folder...

from the menu bar and paste it into the box that opens by pressing command + V. You won't see what you pasted a newline being included. Press return.

  • Impossible to restore a file from Time Machine

I messed up a data file and tried to restore from Time Machine. It produces the message "the operation cannot be performed because you have not granted access to the Finances of 2016 VDJS. I use an iMac 2009 beginning running OS 10.8.5. I checked permissions, and since I'm the only person using this computer all read - write permission. The version of the file I am trying to use to replace the messed up one was recorded only a few days ago and should have the same permissions. I apparently can't use disk utility to verify or repair permissions on the time Machine if the problem is with the saved file. I have another backup using DropBox, but I organized "intelligently" so that it records the changes made to the files they are saved on the computer, if the vehicle has currently the messed registered version. Others have reported this problem as a result of this message on the permissions, but not in similar circumstances, while the situation I'm in.

  • Restoring iTunes only from Time Machine backup

    Hi all

I just installed a new SSD on my iMac and the only thing I want to really restore is my iTunes library of music, playlists, movies, applications and device back ups.

Is someone can you please tell me how I can restore only on the iTunes on the new SSD part?

I was able to locate the iTunes folder manually in the time Machine up which is sitting on my Airport Time Capsule 2 TB.

Would it be a matter of clicking and dragging the folder iTunes from the drive external hard Time Machine for the new SSD internal?

Or would I need to use Migration Assistance or another method?

    Thank you very much

If you have not changed anything, your iTunes library must be stored in the music folder, so it would be as simple as the copy of your iTunes library to your Time Capsule in the folder music of your SSD. In doing so, iTunes will detect your library the next time you open it and you will keep all your data on it.

Another option would be to use the Migration Wizard, but keep in mind that the wizard can migrate the other files, as well as your old user account.
