Spot and process color - color Mode confusion?

I have a question about the choice of colours in the new window shade of color. I think I understand the difference between spot and process colors, but the menu options drop-down confuse me because if I choose the Spot or process in the color Type drop-down list, the same libraries listed in the color Mode drop-down list. How it works, or why that happens? What is a conversion? By example, if I click on treat as the color Type, but then choose Pantone Solid Coated color mode, it shows me the colors available, but are not the spot color Pantone libraries? And if I chose the Spot as the color Type, but then choose CMYK color mode, it gives the CMYK sliders. But shouldn't I be forced to choose from a library of Pantone for a spot color? I would appreciate any explanation of what I want to make sure that I choose colors appropriate for my print projects. Thank you!

You can create a spot color with a personalized mix of CMYK (and even it the same name as a color library if you want). The utility here is that you can create a custom spot with a conversion of customized process color or use your own numbers of conversion for a color book if you think you have a better mix. I recently had to do a special mix for conversion Pantone spot to fit a particular press in order to get a better match for the other materials. This is how we have treated, well I did by the folding of the swatches pantone for my custom and then point to change that to treat in the ink Manager, rather than playing with the color of the library directly, which meant that I could have the custom or book value, according to the settings I chose If the job went to another, press.

There are, I think, four sets of libraries of process included in the code. Pantone Process libraries are sets of bleachers of percentage blends four inks, process and have names that begin with DS followed by some numbers. I think that TrueMatch is a similar system, although I've never worked with a printer who used it. PANTONE Color Bridge and solid to process library are the two simulations of Pantone Solid spots libraries process. The bridge of the color is more recent, and I think largely replaces the solid to deal with.

You can get printed books swatch for all included libraries (spot and process), and you should do it for all the libraries that you use to specify the color. Tones in particular cannot make good on your monitor, and the press operator care what you see on your screen. He's going to get out his swatch book to check that the color on the page is him even that you specified.

  • Spot color to process color conversion

    I have a book that my boss is eager to print. This book is filled with RGB / tones. I discovered that if I go into the "ink Manager" I can check the box "All Spots to process", but the weird thing is after I check in my Swatches Panel and discover that nothing has been converted. What is happening with this? I also found a script handy to convert RGB to CMYK colours, but I still have to find a script to convert all the spot to treat the colors in the swatches Panel. Anyone know where I can get a script for this?

    You don't want to do that, you just think you do. Redining stains as process means they will be redefined again if you need to print as spot. "Effectively" ink Manager using the redfinition fact and if you check the box use Lab Valus that it will convert even at better mixtures for any CMYK profile choose you for the output, increasing the chances of a good game (given that most of the tasks do not convert to CMYK will). The built-in CMYK values are for some unknown profile that most likely is not the same as the one you will use.

  • Ignore the models and processes of color chart by pushing to table

    How can I go on ignoring process colors and color chart of model when you press shades in a table? So far, I've been able to exclude the swatches by name, but ColorType.CMYK does not seem to do... Here is the excerpt in question...

    //Get Document Swatches

    var swatchList = docRef.swatches;

    var colorList = [];

    for(var k=0; k< swatchList.length; k++) {
        if (swatchList[k].name.toLowerCase() != "thru-cut" && swatchList[k].name.toLowerCase() != "[registration]"//
        && swatchList[k].name.toLowerCase() != "[none]" && swatchList[k].name.toLowerCase() != "cut line" //
        && swatchList[k] != ColorType.CMYK){

           colorList.push(swatchList[k].name);
               }
           }

    I'm passing on the syntax for ColorType offshore? While I'm there at - it a way to clean this list to make things more easy Add/Remove in the future. Ideally, I think I'd have a table that contains just the color chart to ignore... something like this:

    var ignoredSwatches = ["thru-cut", "[registration]"]

    for (var k=0; k<swatchList.length; k++) {
         if swatchList[k].name.toLowerCase() != ignoredSwatches {
              colorList.push(swatchList[k].name);
              }
         }

    Thanks in advance, people.

    Ok. I figured out the syntax to ignore certain types of color which is the following:

    &&  swatchList[k].color.typename != "CMYKColor"

    the syntax is the same for pattern or RGB colors as well. If this problem is solved.

    does anyone have an idea on how to create a list of color via a table instead of include the variable [index].name.toLowerCase () each time?

    the way I have it works fine, but I can't imagine that this is the right way.

  • Work in CMYK color mode

    Hello

    I am trying to better understand how to use Illustrator to print correctly and my biggest hurdle is to understand how o use the colors correctly.

    I've done several tutorials and just need to clarify just to ensure that I understand them and I have do this process correctly.

    Issues related to the:

    1. I have read that it is possible to use RGB colors with CMYK to print and I sometimes see RGB color mixed with the CMYK colors in my color chart. Is it okay to use RGB to CMYK as my understanding RGB is to screen only?

    2 - is the right way to apply a CMYK color to work in Illustrator?

    creating a cmyk colour_illustrator.jpg

    3. I'm picking nuances using the guide in color in illustrator and when I double click on the individual color chart this screen with the little cube. I did some reading on this and there are sources saying that this has something to do with RGB modes? Still, leads me to believe that I do not apply color properly in illustrator. Here is the image:

    square warning.jpg

    Would be really grateful for help with these issues, it will let me continue work knowing that my work is done in a good way before you start. It would be also nice to have suggestions or advice on the workflow.

    hope to hear about it.

    Z

    An Illustrator file is RGB or CMYK. The nuances that are the same color as the file mode a.

    You can set the color using different color modes, but when you click OK, the color is converted to the current document's color mode. It will change, and the numbers do not come back. The conversion is based on your color management settings.

    Some printers support the RGB files - it depends on the printing process and the machines they use. Print large format is often made with RGB files. As are some digital printing processes. Ask the print service provider about this.

  • CMYK and Pantone Color in artificial intelligence

    If I have only the pantone color, find the CMYK in artificial intelligence?

    Double click on the sample, and you should see the CMYK values for this ink.

    If you want to convert this to print in CMYK, there are 2 settings to change

    • Book in CMYK
    • Spot to process

    You will notice the icon change in the color chart to show that this color is so more spot but CMYK.

    There is now no exact value of CMYK to PMS colors. Adobe and Pantone changed their CMYK values over the years. While most of the CMYK matches are close, some are significantly different because you have only 4 inks trying to simulate the pantone together library, and a fluorescent or metallic PMS color for example would be very far. More muddy PMS colours usually have a close game, but especially those most dynamic have a close game.

  • Should what color modes I use in Indesign?

    Hello

    I'm a little confused about what color modes to use in Indesign. For example, I was convinced that the default color mode is CMYK. However, when I click on the 'race' or 'fill' to bring up the 'Color picker' window 'saw the RGB color space". Is this good? The swatches Panel contains colors CMYK only, so as you can see I'm confused by that.

    Another question I have, is if I print an Indesign using CMYK document, however my document contains a photoshop RGB image, how will it be affected? Should I change the RGB image in photoshop to CMYK before points in Indesign?

    See you soon,.

    Erin.

    I see slightly different colors by changing the colors betweenproof and separations preview if I chose a proof profile that differs from the profile of work document. Without seeing your monitor, it is quite difficult to know if what you see is accurate. You asked beforre if a new maonitor is calibrated automatically and the answer, which I forgot to provide, is not. The best way to calibrate and profile your monitor is to buy an instrument, either a spectrophotometer or colorimeter cheaper and software calibration. Here, the standard of the industry seems to be the Gretag McBeth EyeOne colorimeter, which sells for about $200. There are other options of other providers that are less expensive.

    On your Mac, I think that the profiles are porbably stored in the ColorSync folder. You can search for files with the .icc extension and you will find them wherever they are.

  • Conversion of pantone color mode to CMYK in Indesign CS3?

    I'm working on a business card for a client, I use Adobe Indesign CS3.

    I use the outside for the print job company called 4over (4over.com) and they require that you use their print CMYK pdf engine so that they can do the job properly... Basically it bring down: I'm in Indesign CS3, I chose to print and the printer choose their "4over pdf engine CMYK to print" so the colors do not convert and the color does not change when they use their printers.

    4over tells me that my document is in pantone color mode, they can see the pantone 371C color, but not the CMYK values.

    How to change color pantone in CMYK color mode mode?

    If anyone can help me please. I would really appreciate it.

    I have attached the file I sent to 4over snack for anyone to respond to my question.

    Thank you

    Brandon

    Before export, in the swatch Panel, choose your Pantone color, right click and select options for nuance. Change the type of color to the process and the color to CMYK mode.

    If it is a business card, and you have shown to the customer a pantone swatch, know that you will not get the same results of color. There is a very useful book of Pantone available that shows samples side by side with the CMYK values.

  • I had problems with the color mode. kept, restart photoshop to find the problem. NOW Photoshop CS6 will not organize, it is stuck on "initializing". How to start?

    At first my documents were pasted on the CMYK color mode, and I couldn't understand how to convert the file in RGB.

    Finally, I abandoned, saved the file and tried to present what I was working on a Web site.

    Before that, I closed photoshop and he raised 2 times in a row to test color on profiles. When finally it seemed to me he decided to go back to RGB, I closed and returned to climb my image. However, the site did not accept it because the jpg was in CMYK. So, I went to relaunch photoshop to convert its color profile and now photoshop will not launch.

    As a first step, it got stuck on "checking memory."

    I closed my computer to see if this would clearly be the question, then tried to restart photoshop and it is now stuck on "initializing".

  • indexed - color mode how to remove a custom color table color

    Hello

    I'm working on a bitmap to which I put my color mode to "indexed color Mode.  I created a custom color table and I added 9 colors.  I would like to delete one of these colors, but I can't find a way to remove a color from my existing custom color table or start with an empty custom color table so that I can add only colours I want.  If someone can tell me how to do either of these things, I'd be very happy.

    Thanks in advance,
    Paul

    I had the same problem. I'm not sure that you can remove colors. I just changed the color, I'm not one of the existing colors that I want. It does not hurt to have two colors of the same value in the table.

    Edit: This is what I warned you about in your other post.
