Should what color modes I use in Indesign?

Hello

I'm a little confused about what color modes to use in Indesign. For example, I was convinced that the default color mode is CMYK. However, when I click on the 'race' or 'fill' to bring up the 'Color picker' window 'saw the RGB color space". Is this good? The swatches Panel contains colors CMYK only, so as you can see I'm confused by that.

Another question I have, is if I print an Indesign using CMYK document, however my document contains a photoshop RGB image, how will it be affected? Should I change the RGB image in photoshop to CMYK before points in Indesign?

See you soon,.

Erin.

I see slightly different colors by changing the colors betweenproof and separations preview if I chose a proof profile that differs from the profile of work document. Without seeing your monitor, it is quite difficult to know if what you see is accurate. You asked beforre if a new maonitor is calibrated automatically and the answer, which I forgot to provide, is not. The best way to calibrate and profile your monitor is to buy an instrument, either a spectrophotometer or colorimeter cheaper and software calibration. Here, the standard of the industry seems to be the Gretag McBeth EyeOne colorimeter, which sells for about $200. There are other options of other providers that are less expensive.

On your Mac, I think that the profiles are porbably stored in the ColorSync folder. You can search for files with the .icc extension and you will find them wherever they are.

Also should what color settings I set in the color management window. Right now the default profile is set to Adobe RGB 1998 (↓).

Now, workspace is set to Adobe RGB 1998. I usually joined Adobe 1998 in most of the Images. I know the difference between famous color profiles (Adobe 1998, sRGB, Prophoto..)

When I use view-Proof Setup - Monitor RGB colors seem more vivid (and natural).

Also the images when opened in Adobe Ps seems different when displayed in the default photo viewer windows (and wallpaper)... But Adobe RGB 1998 default in Windows Color Management. Thus, the Ps and photo viewer (or wallpaper) image should look even. But it's not. Why?

Adobe Photoshop is a software managed on the basis of the color... This means that the settings in Windows Color Management has no effect on the display how Photoshop colors?

I've read dozens of Web pages about all this. Some of them told to change workspace - RGB to Adobe RGB 1998.

Also every monitor is different then how the uniformity of color is maintained around the world? Not all hardware users calibrate their display.

I know there are a lot of questions above. I'm confused. Searching for this for months.

Thank you for giving your time to answer these questions.

Workspace must be a standard space - sRGB, Adobe RGB, ProPhoto. In fact, it is not all that matters, because the embedded document profile always overwrites. In other words, as long as you have defined strategies to "Preserve embedded profiles", which is the only sensitive parameter. You have it, so that's fine.

Do not use the monitor here profile! The color settings dialog box is to manage document profiles. The monitor profile is a different animal in all, serve a different purpose.

The monitor profile is implemented at the level of the system - the calibrator will do that for you BTW - and will be used by color management applications without any intervention from the user. The profile appears in the color management > devices dialog. This is your last screenshot. The monitor profile must be marked 'default'.

You need both of these profiles, monitor and document, for a managed path color display. The source profile is converted on the fly, by application, on the monitor profile. These converted values are sent to the screen. In this way the display is exactly corrected for, much more precise than what can be achieved simply by adjusting the monitor.

It seems that you are using a canned profile, supplied with the monitor. Just mark it by default and that's all. Note that you you get a much better result with the help of a Stallion! Manufacturer profiles, despite assertions to the contrary, are generic and not designed specifically for your device. They are also surprisingly often defective/broken. Come if you encounter specific problems.

  • Should what color scheme I use to sync my adobe applications? or what is the default?

    Hello

I wonder about the different color settings, what is the most commonly used? I am based in the United Kingdom so it would be wise for me to use 3 prepress Europe?

If you live in the United Kingdom, then 'Europe prepress 3' is much better than the default - but if you don't have a lot of experience 'Use general Europe' is much safer.

For RGB the safe choice is always sRGB. There are advantages to the Adobe RGB, but if you don't know what you are doing you can get into trouble. For the web, you should always use sRGB.

If you use CMYK offset printing, you need a specific profile to use in all cases, and you need to get it directly from the printer. In Europe, which is generally ISO Coated FOGRA39, but don't assume that whatever it is. CMYK is a Pandora's box in any case, better to avoid until you know your way around (or prepare a steep learning curve).

Above all, always have color management policies defined to "preserve embedded profiles. It's the default, do not change. And always incorporate the profile. With the setting "preserve" it's automatic, except to save for Web which you should check.

(BTW these presets have no particular meaning and you can have your own custom settings, and they do not have to be synchronized. But for now let's not complicate this more necessary).

  • Should what media player I use to open on my VISTA PC .mov videos?

Computer is a Dell XPS 420 Windows Vista SP2 (Home Premium)
32-bit Internet Explorer 9 Panda anti-virus Safari is also installed.

NO, I made NO changes to my computer.

I took a video on my Iphone 5 on 11 June 2014. I can see it on my phone. When I have this message to other cell phones, they can see it. When I send it to emails, no one can open it except gmail. We get the message that there is no Association set for .mov. I went .mov in the list of the association and "attached" to Windows Media Player, which does not recognize it, or open it. Should what media player I use?

    HELP PLEASE!

.mov is not a format very widely compatible. Anyone who designs will require a third-party video player, such as Apple's QuickTime. A better solution is to save all in another format, such as .mp4. (Keep in mind that I know almost nothing about iPhones). Maybe you could use a Media Converter. (be careful with these)

  • What color profile is used when uploading to Flickr?

I use the Flickr Lightroom (Version 6.6.1.1083169) come with Lightroom plugin to transfer your photos to Flickr. All my photos are taken in RAW on a Nikon D750 format, converted to DNG on import. I never had any problem with my photos on Flickr, but I was wondering what color profile Lightroom applies to the pictures uploaded on Flickr? Is it possible to upload photos with a different color profile, say Adobe RGB on Flickr? If yes where can I specify it? (If I upload photos with profile Adobe RGB on Flickr, I understand that displays that can not handle the profile might make wrong.)

All things internet should use sRGB as sRGB color space is the internet standard.

  • Should what color settings I choose for photoshop ProPhoto RGB, Adobe RGB 1998 or other?

Please tell me what color settings should I use to apply on Photoshop and Lightroom. ProPhoto RGB, Adobe 1998 or another? Thank you.

    Nice day!

If you work mainly for printing AdobeRGB seems a good choice, if you work primarily for the web, I would recommend to use sRGB.

  • Conversion of pantone color mode to CMYK in Indesign CS3?

I'm working on a business card for a client, I use Adobe Indesign CS3.

I use the outside for the print job company called 4over (4over.com) and they require that you use their print CMYK pdf engine so that they can do the job properly... Basically it bring down: I'm in Indesign CS3, I chose to print and the printer choose their "4over pdf engine CMYK to print" so the colors do not convert and the color does not change when they use their printers.

4over tells me that my document is in pantone color mode, they can see the pantone 371C color, but not the CMYK values.

How to change color pantone in CMYK color mode mode?

If anyone can help me please. I would really appreciate it.

I have attached the file I sent to 4over snack for anyone to respond to my question.

    Thank you

    Brandon

Before export, in the swatch Panel, choose your Pantone color, right click and select options for nuance. Change the type of color to the process and the color to CMYK mode.

If it is a business card, and you have shown to the customer a pantone swatch, know that you will not get the same results of color. There is a very useful book of Pantone available that shows samples side by side with the CMYK values.

  • No matter what color/mode I choose, "Color of the value" box is gray

I just bought Photoshop elements 13 for PC. I had earlier versions of photoshop elements and used without problem. The question that I have is that no matter what color I choose after clicking on 'Color of foreground to the value', watch a shade of gray and also painted in this shade of gray. Not only that on the brush, but another feature that allows me to choose a color. The image on that I work a png and has especially a transparent background. I tried to also use a jpeg and encountered the same problem. Is it just a little box somewhere that verifies that I don't see?

I did not PSEv13, but suggest that you open the Expert tab in the editor and go to the Image menu.

If this is not available, suggest that you repost and I hope that someone else will come to guide you along.

  • Should what audio drivers I use for Windows XP?

I need to know what audio drivers should I use for Windows XP?

Use the XP drivers for your model.

    Download drivers

Visit the manufacturer's Web site and select your model (this is usually done in the Support section). You should be able to download drivers for your model if they have drivers for your version of Windows. Download the driver (s) and follow the instructions to install - every computer is different, so I can't give you exact directions.
