  • SpywareBlaster error message?

It is a problem that I am having with SpywareBlaster 4.0. I've been checking the updates, and before the protection for Firefox could be activated, this message popped up:

Error: Access violation at 0x005F71FC (tried to read from 0x19BDOC80) program ended

When I tried several times after that, the second set of numbers would change, the first would remain the same. • Satellite P10 - start/stop down do not work

I hope someone can help me. My Satellite P10 problems start and stop.

When it starts, it goes to a black screen with white wording, asking if I want to start windows normally or in SafeMode etc - he doesn't let me start normally, so I choose the option "last good start of files" (or similar wording).

The pc then door on commissioning. I did a system restore, but it made no difference. Once it is started, it's a lottery if she going to be ok, or if he's going to crash.

Stopping down, I have to press the off button, there is no other way it will stop.

I ran avg, spybot, adaware lavasoft, xsoftspy, registry mechanic, spywareblaster etc but it doesn't seem to be something "wrong".

The only thing I installed recently is the new avg 7.5 and legacy family tree software - I downloaded both programs on the sites of manufacturers. AVG is free, but I just could have visited a site of crack for the Legacy code :)

I would really appreciate it if someone is nice to give me some advice :)

You didn't describe what happens exactly when you want to turn off but I imagine some don t want to be off process and maybe somehow, blocks, unity. When you force the unit turns off after that put on it is nothing unusual that start menu occurs.

In your problem, the only problem is the unit of decommissioning, correctly of course. I recommend you to check all running processes before you turn the power off and try to identify some of them. You can check what happens if you change some of them manually from the Task Manager.

  • Registry errors

I've only used a computer for 2 years so I don't know much about them.  I have more than 500 registry errors that must be fixed and gain speed and freezes on my computer.  I live on a fixed income and need to know if there is a program that I can buy that will help these problems.  I have AVAST security paid program and there are the files they can analyze only jackets on and not the content, also left programs I had here and removed fragments.  I am not computer savvy and I would really appreciate the help, and I'd rather not iyogi.  Thank you

@ BonnieDeffinbaugh what suggested program you have over 500 registry errors? Whatever you do, do not use a registry cleaner.

Download and run the free versions of these programs after checking the updates.

    Hello

Start Notepad and let Windows load completely.  Hold down the Windows key and press R.  For the run box, type msconfig and press ENTER.  In the next window, click the Startup tab, uncheck the box next to each startup item and then click on apply to apply the change.  Reboot the laptop and see if it will now download the files correctly.  If this is the case, reactivate a startup at a time item, click on apply and reboot to check if it still downloads ok.  Keep doing this until you experience the problem and you will know that the last program that you define to start is the origin of the download problem.

  • Can not install updates/update history disappeared!

This problem started a few days ago when I tried to install two updates: KB973688 and KB976098. After installation and reboot, configuration updates began at no. 3, 1 and 2 lack. Ebb in Windows Update pane, message-box said updates failed to install.

I contacted the technical support from Microsoft and I was asked to have a go at two possible corrections;                                                  (1) checking HKEY LOCAL MACHINE\COMPONENTS in the registry to remove certain values, if present, that they were not. The registry backup was made just in case of unexpected problems, but I doesn't make any alteration.          (2) rename the folder C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution Windows Update, I did, but alas, with no success.

At this point, although I couldn't install updates, all previous updates have been listed and although they are now gone, I guess they are somewhere on the hard drive (sorry, I'm clueless when it comes to computers!). Once more, I tried to rename the folder of Windows Update which failed once again and I think led to updates installed endangered "version history". I contacted Microsoft support to get more tips, but still I had no response, perhaps due to the holiday.

I would be extremely grateful for any ideas that could help me trying to solve this problem, given my very limited computer skills.                                                                                                                 OS Vista Home Premium(I did have SP2!/?), ZoneAlarmPro, Avast! I stopped my indexing service by performing certain shortcomings and now I want to restart it. I can see the article in msconfig (services tab) in the list of the current situation of services "arrested."

Vanguard, it depends on how you initially 'arrested' to run.  You can stop with a method or disable with another.  If it works now, it is running of constantly.  When you put the check mark, doesn't it show running or stopped on the right side of the window?

Most of the pros it is advised to disable it because it is such a big eater of resources and unnecessary.  You can check this and decide for yourself. http://kadaitcha.CX/performance.html Tweak #7
To turn off the indexing service:

    • Click Start, run, type services.msc, and then press enter or click OK

  • System Restore does not work, once again.

Hi, I read a topic of 2010 that has not yet been answered. I worked with a tech at Microsoft by e-mail, but when I answered: System Restore didn't work. Now it does not work yet. I had installed Returnil system safe, but I got an error msg 0 x 80004005, (third-party antivirus), so I uninstalled the program. I went through the registry and delete something with Returnil all 4 sections of the registry. Remove the common files folder that was left after uninstalling. Restarted my computer several times. I use MSE, with free versions of spywareblaster and MBAB, who are both at the request not in real time. I tried to restore to a time before I had installed Returnil first, (I installed and uninstalled 3 times in 2 days) and could not. I tried to use a snapshot to restore spywareblaster and managed to restore to the point 2 x before installing because forward the installation of point returnil has been altered. At the moment no malware has been detected and no threat of MSE. What to do next?

Thanks in advance for any help. Liz.

Here's my usual route to find out how to reinstall System Restore:

If you have already run MBAM and SAS, temporarily disabled your antivirus and anti-malware applications and tried your Safe Mode system restore and you still get the restoration of the system to work, you must reinstall just your system restore.  You do not have to reinstall XP - just reinstall the system restore part.

System Restore is a frequent target of attacks by malicious software.

When you reinstall the system restore, all your current Restore Points will be deleted and you must restart your computer once the installation is complete.  After the reboot, a new Restore Point will be created as a new point of system control in your calendar of SR.

If your system had a malware infection, it could be that some of the files in your old Restore Points are also infected up to wipe out the 'old' and new is often a good idea if you wonder if the old Restore Points are infected or not.

Assuming that your XP is installed on drive C of your computer:

As you go through the reinstallation of the RS, the resettlement will be asked to locate certain files as you go along and ask your XP installation CD.   If you do not have a genuine XP bootable installation CD, you can change the path where Setup looks for files one at a time, because they are needed.  More on that later.

    Navigate to the following folder:

    c:\Windows\Inf

Locate and right-click the following file:

    SR.inf

    Choose Install

If you can not see the sr.inf file, set up your system to show hidden files and show file extensions.

Click on tools, Options, view and turn on "Show the hidden files and folders" and uncheck "Hide extensions for known file types", then you should be able to see the file c:\windows\inf\sr.inf.

Installation can request files from the c:\windows\inf\386 folder.  It would be your installation CD bootable XP genuine if you have one and the Service Pack installed on your system must be the same as the CD that you will use.

You don't need absolutely a CD to do the reinstall, because files must already be on your system somewhere if SR was working before.

If you are prompted for a file, and you can't find it where I suggest in my example below (it works on my system), you need to search your hard drive and find where the files on your system.

If the request to a file and you don't know where he is, let waiting for installation and click Start, search, and search for it
has requested the file and find it on your system.  If SR has already worked before, the file is already on your system somewhere.

Search finds the requested file, go back to the installation and specify the path where you found the file requested and click OK.  Installation can request several files along the way, but you can find them all.

Here's how my system works when I reinstall SR when I pretend that I don't have a genuine XP bootable installation CD:

    When you are asked:

    SR.sys

    Point the install in c:\windows\system32\drivers

    When you are asked:

    c:\windows\system32\srclient.dll

    Point install it in c:\windows\system32

    When you are asked:

    Filelist. XML

Point of installation at c:\windows\system32\restore (or c:\windows\ServicePackFiles\i386)

    When you are asked:

    srframe. MMF

    Point installation c:\windows\system32\dllcache (c:\windows\system32\restore)

Once installation is complete, you will receive a message that you must restart your computer.

Restart your computer and look at your schedule of SR.  You should have a new point system control in your calendar.

When you get SR working again, I ran MBAM and SAS to make sure that your system is reasonably clean of malware.

The day that you think you need to help the system restore you is not the day to discover the system restore does not work, then you need to test.

After the reinstallation, manually create a Restore Point and test the restoration process and make sure that you are convinced that it works from one end to the other.

How can I get my desktop shortcuts to open in maximum size?  I pulled the display open maximum size according to the instructions, but nothing helped.  IE will open allright, as well as windows, chosen among the Favorites, but the desktop icons will open in the small size.  It just happened the other day - so far there, they opened very well.  Is there something I can do?

What version of Internet Explorer you are running?

Have you updated and scanned with your anti-virus and anti-malware programs?  You may have picked up a bug that could be causing your problem.

When you tried the suggestions we have made, you first close all windows?  Click on an icon of shortcut that opens minimized, drag, stretch (or any method you try) at full size.  Select file-exit.  If this does not work, I am ideas.

  • Problems with latest updates Windows (KB) do not install & repeated notifications via the taskbar icon

    Hello everyone,

In my view, there are many people who seem to have a similar problem to mine, although I was unable to find an answer to one of my questions in this post.

    Description of the problem:

Although my Windows Update is defined on download & install updates during the night hours every day, the latest updates, KB26333880, KB2572073and KB2518864 are not be installed.  I went to the Windows Update site to check my editing history.  He showed the green/white checkmarks next to all 3 updates.  The record also showed that updates have been tempted 3 times during the night.  After clicking on the button "Express" on the Home Page, the results show 3 above updates, but show "0 bytes', then '0 download time. '

To me, this indicates that there is no update to download, despite the yellow Shield of Notification of update continues to appear in the taskbar.

    Corrective measures attempted:

    1. I tried to download / install twice unsuccessfully using IE8 and FF (including restarting the computer).

    2. download & run the program MS Fixitattempted, but received a message which read, "an unexpected error has occurred, please try again later." No. error code has seen with this message.  (I could RECORD the program on my desktop... just couldn't run the establishment).

3 tried to search for the presence of these updates using start > run > %windir%KB###.log (where the # is the individual number of update KB).  Every time - a message appears indicating that the file is not found.

4 looked at the Add/Remove Programs list (with the Show updates checkbox checked).  No updates KB mentioned above could be found.

5 with SAS, MBAMand Outpost Security Suite Pro scans revealed no malware/security issues.  (SAS and MBAM are used only as scanners on request).

This problem with the updates does not download & repeated notifications being indicated in the taskbar has occurred many times before.  On this occasion, I called Microsoft several times before finally, my computer remotely accessible support person and spent about 50 minutes to fix the problem.

(Also, it is noted that almost every support person I spoke with has always tried to tell me that MS is not help with the problem of this type.)  I had to be rather several in my reply... tell the person that MS IS in fact provide assistance free security-related Windows updates.  They now provide free assistance is unknown). Besides... I have more a phone number for States anyway.

    My questions to the community:

    1. is it possible to download & install these 3 updates?

2 is there an explanation as to why MS Fixit program will not be installed, and if so, are there certain corrective measures I can take which will allow me to download & run this program?

    System Specs:

Desktop Dell Dimension 3000 Tower;  WIN XP Pro SP3.  2 GB OF RAM;  3.00 gHz CPU;  Outpost Security Suite Pro.  MBAM Pro (on request only).  SAS (on request only);  SpywareBlaster;  IE8 & FF

Thank you for your time and help, review!

  • System Restore fills hard drive

I used Windows XP Home Edition for years, with no problems.  However, in recent weeks, I noticed my hard drive filling up at a rate of almost 1 G new data per day.  I didn't add all the new programs, so I suspected a Virus or a Trojan.  I use Avast Anti-virus and keep SpyBot and SpywareBlaster running and updated.  I ran full scans with these programs and found no problem.  I even downloaded a copy of AVG anti-virus and done a scan with it problems... No..  Then, I came across a program called 'TreeSize' who did a real good job to tell me what's really on the hard drive.  BIINGO!  It seems that my system restore file increases by nearly 1 G per day.  I had about 2 months, control in the system restore points, so I changed the settings about 25 g and lost most of my restore points... AND, my hard disk capacity has increased almost 20 g.

Windows has changed something in the month last about restoring the operating system?  I've never seen this phenomenon until just last month.  Now that I know what is eating my hard disk space, I can recover easily, but I think something has changed recently to cause this.  The ONLY thing I added to my files in the month were updates of Windows.

Even after many years, I have only about 20 G on my hard drive, so it was unusual when I started to see the volume of data up to 40 G.  This just started about 3 or 4 weeks... and I did not install new programs.

Now that I put the restore settings to 25G, I saw no repetition of this 'growth' in the past 2 or 3 days... so time will tell if this fixed my "whim".

As I said, you must set SR to 1 GB... No 25 GB.

I guess the sentence I have in bold above means that you have a separate partition for your data.  You don't need restore the system monitor this partition (disc) at all.  Retrieves a few pieces of Bert K site linked in my previous post (emphasis added):

    • System Restore monitors changes to the system and saves the State of the system as a restore point.
    • System Restore does not restore user data or documents, so it will not cause users to lose their files, email, browsing history or Favorites.
    • System Restore monitors and restores a set of file system and application, the States of these files before the change of the archiving system. System Restore also records a snapshot of the registry (Note: some current registry values will persist) and some dynamic system files.
    • Files that are monitored or excluded from the monitoring are specified in the file % windir%\system32\restore\Filelist.xml.
    • To restore a system, System Restore undoes file changes made to the files monitored, taking over the State of the file at a time of the restore point selected. It replaces the current registry with one registered for the selected restore point.

If indeed you watched a "data disc" and it was the system restore on this drive that increased, it seems that if one of the applications, which stores the data on this disk does not respect the following recommendations:

    • To make sure that your application has the behavior desired after a restore, follow these steps:

      • Be sure to use the extensions compatible with those used in the Filelist.xml file binary application key to protect. For more information, see Monitoring of file Extensions.
      • Do not use controlled types of extensions for files modified by the user. For example, if you name the file of personal data of a user using the .ini extension, the user may lose work because of a system restore.
