SQL add a blank line will cause

Hello

Currently, I use a temporary table to add a blank line to the top / the beginning of my results of the query. I'm moving to stored procedures in MS SQL and wanted to know if it is possible to add a blank line directly in my SQL, so I can remove the solution in the temporary table.

Any thoughts on this is appreciated!

Hello

Thanks for the idea. It worked perfectly! For those seeking just a line insert empty 'above' the results of the query, here was the final code:

SELECT the category
SYNDICATION
UNION
SELECT "
ORDER BY category

Once again, thank you for the help!

  • Add a blank line, while Double spacing turned on

    Sometimes, I want to add an additional line to a double spaced document. Is it possible to do so and to map it to a keyboard shortcut, so I don't have to go back a single space and double?

    This can be done via a text selection and new paragraph styles, a unique space and a double-spaced, with appropriate function key assignment. For each of these settings, you can a leading of 120% (1,2) simple and 240% (2.4) for line spacing. I suggest using accurate rather than single or double choices and then plug the values representing the spacing that appears just for your writing style and the main objective.

    Sanjay, it's a problem of client - customer is responsible for rendering data. If whites are needed, then the customer must make as a result.

  • How to make SQL * more count the comment and blank line numbers?

    Hello

    Parameter
    Value of the parameter
    Oracle versionEnterprise Edition Release 11.2.0.1.0 - 64 bit
    OPERATING SYSTEMLinux Fedora Core 17 (X86_64)

    I would like to know, is it possible to force SQL * Plus to provide the number of the current in the source file line whenever there is an error? I often put in the first line of my script SQLBLANKLINES the VALUE ON that I may be able to put several consecutive blank lines in my code (I do that sometimes, when I find that it is appropriate to make my code more readable or a sequence of instructions which I believe make their logic more comprehensible for the reader of the Group)

    Now the problem is that SQL * Plus will ignore these empty lines and whenever there is an error, the line number in the error message does not match the actual line number in the source file, but it seems to be the last non-empty line in the file.  Consider the following example:

    SET SQLBLANKLINES ON;

    DECLARE
        var PLS_INTEGER := 10;
    BEGIN

        var := 20
    END;
    /

    In the code above on line 9 (also counting blank lines), there is an error (no semicolon at the end of the var: = 20) but when I run the script

    SQL * also, here is the error message I get

    SQL > @myscript.sql;

    END;

    *

    ERROR on line 8:

    ORA-06550: line 8, column 1:

    PLS-00103: encountered the symbol "END" when expected in the following way:

    * & = - + ; <>/ is mod remains not rem

    < an exponent (*) > <>or! = or ~ = > = < = <>and like2 or

    like4 likec between | submultiset of type multiset Member

    The symbol ';' was replaced by 'END' continue.

    SQL >

    As you can see the error message indicates that the error was found on line 8, while in the file, it's really on line 9

    As long as the number of lines in the script is limited, this may not be a problem and we can quickly find the actual line number in the code that causes the error, but for a code, including hundreds (or even thousands) of lines and with many comments and blank lines, find line number given by SQL * error message more becomes complicated.

    So my question: is it possible to make SQ * more properly draw the line numbers, as they appear in the source file?

    Thanks in advance,

    Kind regards

    Dariyoosh

    Hi, Dariyoosh,

    The line numbers in error messages are always from the beginning of the statement, but not the file.  The back-end which checks the errors and generates the error message, has no idea if this statement has appeared in your file, even if the statement was in a file at all, or if it comes from multiple files, each with its own line 1.

    You can divide your scripts into parts, so that the long statements, which may lead to error messages, are each in a separate file, so the statement starts on the line 1 of the file.

    For example, you can call a script called fubar.sql, which looks like this:

    SET SQLBLANKLINES ON;

    @@fubar_1

    Which calls another script, called fubar_1.sql, located on the same directory as fubar.sql, that looks like this

    DECLARE
        var PLS_INTEGER := 10;
    BEGIN

        var := 20
    END;
    /

    You never call him directly fubar_1.

  • How is it when I use "Space before" in a paragraph style, it only will space if I have a blank line above it. Shouldn't be doing this anyway?

    Maybe I'm missing something, but it seems to me that if I have a style with a parameter 'space before', for example, 21 p, I should be able to put text into a new text box and have this text with the pop of style applied to the bottom of the page. He does not. I can do work just hit 'enter' and by having a blank line in front of it, but in my mind, this should not be necessary. What I am doing wrong?

    This is expected behavior. If the text that spans columns or pages you don't want a space above if a new column begins with a paragraph at the top. Like this one, where you want to the 2nd column to align with others:

  • which will cause 'notify() and wait()' mechanism no longer works?

    Hi all

    My application has worked for a few years, unless the user recently upgraded to OS7.1 and to try out my new device, all of a sudden, he is part works not properly.

    Appplcaition will download data from the server, long story Short,

    When there is no queue of download, application will wait until asked to download real.

    my code something like the follow up:

            InvokeContainer c = new InvokeContainer(r);
            synchronized (c.syncObj) {
                // push to queue
                synchronized (_queue) { _queue.addElement(c); }
                LogManager.getInstance().add("Notify queue Thread _queue size " + _queue.size());
                synchronized (_queueSyncObj) { _queueSyncObj.notifyAll(); }
                // wait for release
               // LogManager.getInstance().add("Invoke data wait to release");
                //synchronized(c.syncObj){
                    try { c.syncObj.wait(); } catch (Exception ex) {}
                //}
                LogManager.getInstance().add("Invoke data released");
            }

            while (!_stop) {
                InvokeContainer c = null;

                // wait for invoke
                c = getNextInvoke();
                if (c == null) {
                    LogManager.getInstance().add("Wait For next queue");
                    synchronized (_queueSyncObj) {
                        try {
                            _queueSyncObj.wait();
                            LogManager.getInstance().add("Invoked");
                        } catch (Exception ex) {
                            LogManager.getInstance().add("Exception happened: " + ex.toString());
                        }
                    }
                    c = getNextInvoke();
                    LogManager.getInstance().add("Get a new queue ");
                }

    My question is:

    my request always stop at the:

     LogManager.getInstance().add("Notify queue Thread _queue size " + _queue.size());

    and I saw there's a queue, waiting, however, the line after wait() never called.

    which will cause notify() citing not wait()?

    For me, in places, your code seems too complicated for what he seeks to achieve.  I'll try to simplify.

    First you have loads of protection around your creating a Singleton RuntimeStore object.  This seems pointless.  Take a look at this:

    http://supportforums.BlackBerry.com/T5/Java-development/create-a-singleton-using-the-RuntimeStore/TA...

    Go through your code, I wonder what follows:

    (1) public static synchronized IPCThread getServerInstance() {}

    Why is this it is synchronized?  Iron several people getting to this offers no additional protection.

    (2) synchronized (GlobalSync.getSyncObj (GUID))...

    This synchronized block offers no additional protection either.  Either the

    IPCThread will be there or it won't, there is no possibility of a race condition causes you a problem here.

    (3) public static synchronized IPCThread initServerInstance() {}
    synchronized (GlobalSync.getSyncObj (GUID)) {}

    Here, there might be some value to have only one person to create it at the same time.  But if it's a question, then the second person through should check if it has been created, this code is not.  Thus, each invocation of

    initServerInstance()

    will create and start a new IPCThread.  The synchronized are totally redundant and you have a potential hole in your treatment.

    (4) public synchronized static getInstance() {} IPCThread

    you have another way to get an IPCThread, which in fact is not identical to the above and, will be different if you start another instance of your Application, for example an alternative entry or a variant of starting.

    I recommend that you replace it with the unique getInstance() method based on article.  Do start the IPCThread if it creates.

    OK, I understand that you don't think that this is related to your problem, but with the code you have, there may be several IPCThreads and would not help.

    Now on your invocation code.

    Can you please remove static from the following:

    private static class InvokeContainer...

    As far as I KNOW, he does not buy you anything in this circumstance, and it confuses me.

    The idea here seems to be that you can provide an executable in this process, which it runs and then inform the task (if necessary) awaiting.  You pack the floor area in an InvokeContainer.

    The first thing to look at, it's how you entered extracting from the queue.  Here you protect with this line:

    synchronized (inasmuch)

    So what you're saying to me here, it's that you will protect this treatment in protecting access to the inasmuch.  Something we will add it to the queue. or something is going to take off it the queue, both may not occur at the same time.  That's ok.

    So how do add you to the queue?

    Ignoring the code that will process if the process id is the same, we get this:

    InvokeContainer c = new InvokeContainer (r);
    synchronized (c.syncObj) {}
    Push the queue
    synchronized (inasmuch) {_queue.addElement (c) ;}
    synchronized (_queueSyncObj) {_queueSyncObj.notifyAll () ;}
    wait for the release
    try {c.syncObj.wait () ;} catch (Exception ex) {}}
    }

    Now, we have already seen the queue is protected using "synchronized (inasmuch).  But this code will not prevent the entry we just added picked up before that we treat the notify - in other words, the notification cannot be taken into account.  But that's OK.  The reverse is not.  If the Thread that processes the code IPCThread is at this point:

    If (c == null) {}

    and the Thread that the addition of the transformation executes these two instructions:

    synchronized (inasmuch) {_queue.addElement (c) ;}
    synchronized (_queueSyncObj) {_queueSyncObj.notifyAll () ;}

    then the IPCThread will miss warn him.

    To fix this, I'll do what I suggested earlier.

    The way, this seems very strange:

    InvokeContainer c = new InvokeContainer (r);
    synchronized (c.syncObj) {...}

    but in fact, this means that the code will never fail of the treated IPCThread this practicable, since the notification

    synchronized (c.syncObj) {c.syncObj.notify () ;}

    Cannot run until this thread is waiting.  It's a good thing.

    So that leaves only one thing to discuss - the.invokeAsync.  This code looks good, if the

    synchronized (c.syncObj) {...}

    is completely redundant.

    Summary - 2 recommendations:

    (a) change your Singleton IPCThread to use the RuntimeStore method suggested in the KB article

    (b) check the inside of the protection of

    synchronized (_queueSyncObj) {}

    which

    c = getNextInvoke();

    is always set to null.

    Finally, have you thought about putting a delay time in your expectations, while without worrying about the activity or not, the Thread will pick up every now and again work?  For example:

    _queueSyncObj.wait (1000);

    Edit: Minor typo and readability...

  • EPub - how to add invisible hyperlinks + lines of separation?

    Hello

    I use Indesign to create an epub.

    I would like to add a link that will take you to another section, but I don't want the other section that you are taken to a different aspect (e.g. as a blue link). How arrival point invisible?

    How can I add a black dividing line that separates a part of one chapter of another? Ive thought to use the underscore character or less symbol but output will be different on each ereader. I don't want a black line which is spread over two lines.

    Val

    Hypertext links often have an appearance in an EPUB. You want there to be some change if someone knows to click. But the destinations don't look otherwise.

    As for the creation of black separation lines, I personally don't think that would look very good. Usually, you want sections or chapters to start on a new page. There are two ways to do this. You can use the export settings to choose a paragraph style that causes a page break. Or, if you do a book, each file in a book will start on a new page.

    But if you want to use a rule, you need to learn more about CSS to do the formatting. You can do that in InDesign. I would suggest books of Elizabeth Castro at this address:

    EBooks - EPUB directly point shaped

    Or watch videos of Anne-Marie Concepcion on Lynda.com.

  • Adding blank lines to collections is displayed in an area of report

    How can I add blank lines to a collection that appears in a report from the region? I am viewing a collection area of report and have created a button 'Add as many lines' in the context of this region. I would like to add blank lines to the collection and displays the region again when the user clicks this button. Is this possible in Apex 4.0?

    Thank you

    Salome

    Hi Marc,

    Of course, this is possible.

    Pretend I'm a before the process of header on my page that creates my collection like this:

    BEGIN
       IF NOT APEX_COLLECTION.COLLECTION_EXISTS('EMP') THEN
          APEX_COLLECTION.CREATE_COLLECTION_FROM_QUERY_B (
               p_collection_name => 'EMP',
               p_query => 'SELECT EMPNO, ENAME FROM EMP');
       END IF;
    END;

    And I have a report like this region source:

    SELECT APEX_ITEM.TEXT(1, c001) empno, -- be sure to define column as Standard Report Column
           APEX_ITEM.TEXT(2, c002) ename -- be sure to define column as Standard Report Column
      FROM apex_collections
     WHERE collection_name = 'EMP'

    Then I can set a button called Add Row and made it to trigger a process of PL/SQL like this:

    APEX_COLLECTION.ADD_MEMBER(p_collection_name => 'EMP');

    You can improve this option to add a set number of lines by calling add_member in a loop, or go further and have an element of the list with values of 1, 2, 5 etc., so that the user can select the number of lines to add before clicking on a button to add lines.

    Hope this helps,
    John

  • This will cause a memory leak?

    Hello

    I have a question about how AS3 garbage collection.  This will cause a memory leak?

    var firstVector:Vector.<String> = new Vector.<String>;
    var secondVector:Vector.<String> = new Vector.<String>;

    firstVector.push("foo");
    firstVector.push("bar");
    // firstVector now contains foo,bar

    secondVector.push("baz");
    // secondVector now contains baz

    firstVector = secondVector;
    // firstVector now contains baz

    'Foo' and 'bar' exist in memory somewhere now?  In other languges such as Objective-C, if the first vector cannot be erased first before being assigned the second vector data, the first vector data, then that is not accessible, still exist in memory.

    Thank you!

    I think that they stayed in the memory, but we can't reach them because they do not have a reference variable.

    in java, we know that the String class is immutable.

    ArrayList - vector in AS3 - is also immutable too.

    so when the flash vm excute the first line:

    1 - vm will create two ref first, vm and the second table set the size for them like it by default size

    2 - the vm will creat a new string 'toto' in reference 0 of the firstarray - you learned in Assembly.

    3 - Add a new string 'bar' in 1 side firstArray address in memory

    4. new 'baz' and assign the secondArray mention

    the importance is here

    now when you equal first with the second, just by moving the pointer in the first table to the "baz".

    Baz has therefore two now first and second reference table

    foo and bar will remain in the memory, garbage will delete them after some time cause there are no variables that were

    You can also call garbage collection operation by:

    flash.system.System.gc ();

    NB. You may need to mess around with the order if that is not in the order you want. You did not mention what the rules were for all orders expected, so I composed my own * {;-)

    Also, I added a (cust_id) identifier to differentiate different types of payments, as is usually the case. Remove unless it is not applicable to your case.

  • How to eliminate blank lines in addresses mailing label?

    I'm merging the address fields in an Excel 2007 spreadsheet to labels in Word 2007.  Not all labels to use all the fields of the address of the spreadsheet, if I want to be able to ignore a blank in this field entry so that there is not a blank line to the address on the label.  I remember in earlier versions this was done automatically.  How can I remove the blank lines in the merged label?
