• Need advice on best practices for deployment

  I am a novice with APEX and would like some advice on how to set up a dev and test environment.  What I do now works, but I suspect that there is a better way.

  Currently I have 3-4 small applications APEX hosted by www.enciva.com.   They offer two drawings and two Apex workspaces into a single Oracle SE database.

  My current understanding is:

  Workspace_dev

  schema_dev

  main application <-application 10 (points to schema_dev)

  application for admin <-request 11 (points to schema_dev)

  When I'm ready to deploy from dev to prod I export the application (usually via the browser) and import it into the scheme of using SQL Developer prod.   For some reason that I can't import using the browser interface.  In the browser interface, I said to use schema_prod and assign the ID of the application to replace the application existing 20.  It shows a confirmation page indicating that I am about to delete the existing application and replace it with the imported application, but when I hit continue he returned immediately to the previous page.  As much as I know it don't even try do the import, but I could be wrong on this matter.

  Q2) should I be worried that enforcement is corrupt somehow as browser based import does not work?

  Use an application ID unique for each version of an application and a simple, permanent and immutable alias application over the life of the application. On deployment, the export of the development application and import it into the workspace of production with a new ID and then trade alias with the previous version. Start working on the next version, import the application into the space of development work with a new ID and start the cycle again.

  To work in this way, the application must never be referenced directly by ID. All the external links to the app must refer using the alias of the application. All internal references within the app must also use the alias or the integrated APP_ID substitution string.

  Import browser based works do not is abnormal. You can import these applications in the instance of apex.oracle.com using the browser?

  Page level import/export using the App Builder is possible between separate instances where the request and workspace have the same ID. It is not possible in your hosted environment because it contains only a single instance that requires the unique ID workspace.

  It can be done in SQL * Plus, or using SQL Developer apex_application_install API, but generally it is easier to simply import the entire application and copy the page between applications.

• Just improved m tips on best practices for sharing files on a Server 2008 std.

  The field contains about 15 machines with two domain controllers, one's data is the app files / print etc...  I just upgraded from 2003 to 2008 and want to get advice on best practices for the establishment of a group of file sharing. Basically I want each user to have their their own records, but also a staff; folder. Since I am usually accustomed to using windows Explorer, I would like to know if these actions can be done in the best conditions. Also I noticed on 2008 there is a feature of contacts. How can it be used? I would like to message or send an email to users their file locations. Also, I want to implement an admin at a lower level to handle the actions without making them far in on the server, not sure.

  I read a certain bbut I don't like test direct more because it can cause problems. So basically a way short and neat to manage shares using the MMC, as well as the way that I approach their mail from the server of their actions. Maybe what kind of access cintrol or permissions are suitable also for documents. Also how can I have them use office templates without changing the format of the model.

  For several months, one day each on ' Windows Vista Bussiness "and"MS Office Professional 2007' install.

  Relevant updates are:-

  2 update for Microsoft Office PowerPoint 2007 (KB2535818)

  The lifted message when the update is "patch installer has stopped working".

  Finally, the "errors:" are: -.

  I tried nmerous solutions suggested on the forums but nothing helped.

• C 64 Vista 64/security update for SQL server 2005 Service Pack 3 (KB970892) problem code

  I get a request for update update of SQL server 2005, (not even sure if I need the SQL code on my laptop) and it never ends. It errors. It seems to open a box to find a file called (sqlrun_sql.msi) this file does not exist on my system. Unable to reinstall SQL server 2005, it is impossible to uninstall.

  When I try yo install service pack manually the x 86 worm say to use the x 64, x 64 say to use the X 86 worm. ???

  If I do not need SQL server, I would really like to remove it. But how.

  I tried to get the fix for SQL Server 2005 Service Pack 3 update. I downloaded it, but there is an error that appears. (WindowsUpdate_0000737D""WindowsUpdate_dt000"). I have went threw this Help window to fix this. When I get to step 5 there are two choices. 1 is engine mssmlbiz:Database. 2 is SQLEXPRESS:Database Engine. I choose both of them. one at a time and then I get to step 7 and this is where I hit a wall. I do not have an opption for the next button. Thank you.
