  FWIW, I called hp. They believed excluded material and had me do a full system restore. Problem persists... The things you own end up owning you they say... I guess it's doubly true if you own a hp laptop. Full day turned... One day closer to death. Thanks Obama.

  Disconnect all external devices, mainly USB devices except for devices such as the mouse and keyboard.

  I remove the hard drive and attach it to your desktop and use the host operating system to run a check disk on your drive.  The laptop goes hard disk looking for instructions to start and he does not see the correct code.  This is probably due to a damaged boot sector.  Another idea is that your bios has changed and you have changed the SATA from AHCI to IDE type somehow or vice versa.   This problem might have occurred because of these reasons:

  1 conflict between third-party applications.

  2 corrupt system files.

  3 virus.

  Try the steps listed here:

  Method 1:
  I suggest to start the computer using safe mode and check if the problem persists or not. If the issue happen not in Mode without failure, you can set up your computer in a clean boot and check if it helps.

  Step 1:
  Start the computer in Mode safe. At the start of the computer Mode safe with the minimum set of drivers and files.
