SQL Server Agent locks with popup messages

My company recently moved our SQL Server 2000 Win 2003 win nt 2000. The server agent produced pop up messages to stop the agent in its tracks as well as the work that run. Some of these messages:

There is a long list of supported SQL server versions, but guess what, SQL Express is not listed.

Conclusion is therefore that only "full" MS SQL Servers are supported for backup. Guess I need to find another way to backup my SQL Express databases.

  • Use of the SQL Server Agent

    Hello

Lack of VMWare VirtualCenter Server 2.5.0.64207 on a Windows 2003 R2 SP2, SQL Server 2005 System. It is the only significant application on the system, and VirtualCenterDB is the only database.

We see that the system is running very slowly, both regarding the response time in the Console of the Infrastructure of VMWare and the response time for all other programs that you happen to run. For example, the MMC administration tools take a long time to start or respond to clicks.

PerfMon shows fairly low CPU usage, but the queue of average drive about 170.

However, the problem disappears if we stop the SQL Server Agent service. The average disk queue goes down to about 2.

I don't want to always leave the SQL Server Agent is turned off, because it is necessary to perform periodic maintenance. Is there a way to tell why the readers of SQL Server Agent use so much disk space?  Given that VirtualCenterDB is our unique database, I suspect that the problem is specific to VMWare.

Thanks in advance for your suggestions.

These jobs move data from system of VPX_HIST_STAT1 to VPX_HIST_STAT2 then VPX_HIST_STAT3 then VPX_HIST_STAT4 and finally remove the data from your database.   These tables to the expectations of the performance data for your hosts and virtual machines and jobs here correspond to the data of the basic performance levels than your game in the VI client when connected to your vCenter server.  It is important to keep these tasks to make sure that your weekly, monthly and annual data are properly maintained.

You have a database maintenance task that rebuilt the index?  If this isn't the case, then it is perhaps probably caused performance issues.  Without up-to-date indexes, SQL Server will be compelled to resort to analysis of tables when looking for data that can significantly increase the disk i/o.

  • Installation of the SQL Server Agent on the Virtual Center Server

    Hello everyone

I installed VC2.5 on a PowerEdge 1950 server.  The SQL VC database will reside on a different server, of course, I understand that you need to create a system DSN.  But he also stated that the "SQL Server Agent" must run on the VC server.  How to install SQL Server agent?  It is installed from the SQL installation CD?

    Thank you!!!

SQL Agent is part of the SQL Server installation and only would be located on the database server.

  • vCenter connects to SQL Server very well with 64-bit DSN, but does not connect with 32-bit DSN

Created a system DSN 64-bit and 32-bit vCenter server by using SQL Server Native Client 11.0 and exact same settings pointing to the database on a SQL Server 2012 box.  The 64-bit DSN connects very well and the 32-bit DSN fails to connect.  Can someone give some guidance as to what could be the problem?  I have never seen it before.  They are pointing to the same database and use the same local SQL account.

    TIA

The challenge was to enable the SQL Server Browser service in the SQL box - it is disabled by default in Windows with SQL Server 2012 2012...  This should really be documented by VMWare.

  • ThinApp SQL Server 2005 Express

I try to ThinApp Sql Server 2005 SP2, but so far have no success.

I followed the suggestions in the following links and the database works very well on my own PC, but I get errors when I try to run the ThinApp on other machines.

For testing, I start with a clean copy of Windows XP with SP3 and all updates installed 32-bit (host system is XP x 64). I start capturing ThinApp and run a custom Setup, which installs SQL Server 2005 Express SP2 on the computer and creates a server instance called SQLEXPRESS_CQSG2 with an account his and the password.

I then install the SQL Server Management Studio with SP2 and create the ThinApp using all the flaws, including the merged isolation mode.

When I try to run management studio on a Windows XP 32-bit machine, it starts, but it is impossible to connect to the server instance:

    http://communities.vmware.com/servlet/JiveServlet/downloadImage/4852/SqlServerError.JPG

I checked, and the server instance does not allow remote connections. I also have connection errors when I try to run the Configuration Manager and the Configuration of the Surface program. In addition, attempts to connect to the database using ADO Native Client provider fails with a connection string (provider = SQLNCLI; Server =. \SQLEXPRESS_CQSG2; UID = sa; Pwd = xyzzy) that works very well in a non-ThinApp environment.

I checked the log file in C:\Documents and Settings\Fred\Application Data\Thinstall\Microsoft SQL Server 2005\%ProgramFilesDir%\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL.1\MSSQL\LOG\ERRORLOG and it contains:

I saw him recently. It is due to a bug in ThinApp. The solution is to force the mssqlsystemresource.mdf and mssqlsystemresource.ldf files to the bin to sand. You can do this for example by starting a virtual cmd.exe, then:

    CD \Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL.1\MSSQL\DATA

    Rename the mssqlsystemresource.mdf temp

    Rename the mssqlsystemresource.mdf temp

    Rename mssqlsystemresource.ldf temp

    Rename mssqlsystemresource.ldf temp

  • In SQL Server 2000/2005/2008 UltraLiteJ synchronization

    Hi all

Does anyone know how to synchronize to SQL Server 2000/2005/2008 UltraLiteJ?

I tried this, but there is an error showed.

Detected a version unknown or damaged configuration of the MobiLink system under owner 'dbo '.

I had created a DSN. But when I created the synchronization model, it failed, I could shoot.

When I run the MS-DOS command prompt Mobilink server, an error has occurred again,

[- 10002] "Consolidated database server or ODBC error: ODBC: [Microsoft] [ODBC SQL Server driver] [SQL Server] Login failed for user (null)".
Reason: Not associated with a SQL Server login that is approved. (State = 28000 ODBC, Native error code is 18452)

Could someone help me with the setting and the code maybe?

    Hi Hari,

You can ignore the warning 'version' unknown or damaged The synchronization model compares its own set of system tables against what you have in SQL Server and responds with this warning if it detects a difference. The comparison is strict, and it may signal a difference for reasons such as unusual places or different ODBC drivers. The message should have been accompanied by a detailed description, which would explain what he saw different.

Looks like your MobiLink server starts correctly and connects to the database. If it does not start successfully, you should see a message "Server MobiLink has begun" in the server window, and you should not see any entries in the window of the server starting with 'E'.

So if you have deployed your synchronization model, and the server is started, the next question is why your synchronization failed. It would be useful to retrieve the codes of error on the device, software versions and the MobiLink log entries using a comprehensive framework as - v + on the MobiLink command line. I would suggest that we are pursuing in the Sybase for MobiLink newsgroup, where you will find a number of people who are more expert that I am to all aspects of MobiLink.

You can access newsgroups via the web or by using a News Reader. The starting point for the two is http://www.sybase.com/support/community-forums and the newsgroup you need is sybase.public.sqlanywhere.mobilink (http://www.sybase.com/detail?id=1009240 ).

I think this would be your best way to go for that matter.

  • Installation of SQL Server for the virtual Center Server

    Hi all

We bought 16 x 2 for ESX server CPU licenses.  So, I will prepare a database of virtual server of the Management Center 16 guests. As SQL Server 2005 Express is installed during installation of Virtual Center Server but VMware is recommended for use only for 5 guests.

So I would like to prepare a database of SQL for VC server, please help me how to make the database to the virtual Center Server. Are there special tables, configuration, permissions. I have no experience with databases then how should I go with it. Is there a guide for it. The ESX Server installation guide explains only create ODBC connections.

Please help me with this I would be very obliged.

I know that the procedure is restrited 2 steps (1 and 2) on page 68, but you need to install and configure SQL Server for your business standard (I guess asking the C: or D: and data/newspapers on E :). I'm not going to explain better how to install SQL Server on a server. For the SQL Server database:

    • Step 1: you create a database storing the files on the right disk (with at least 30 GB) with a default database size to the size defined by the "Calculator" (value of + 15% on the line of your choice statistical level).

    • Step 2: On your Microsoft SQL Server, create a user of SQL Server database with the database rights of operator (DBO). The default database for the DBO User is that you defined in step 1. Make sure the database user has a role of sysadmin server or the role of database db_ownerfixed on the VirtualCenter database and the MSDB database. The role db_owner on the MSDB database is required for the installation and upgradeonly. This role can be removed after installation or upgrade process iscompleted.

The user must be created for your standard business as service account (password never expires) with a long and complex password.

Other steps in the document are for the ODBC connection.

Creating the tables is made during the installation of VC. Nothing to do. A characteristic is not to stop the SQL Server agent because some tasks are scheduled in the database to 'compact' statistics.

For the record, the database is upgraded when installing patches VC creating of new tables, updating of data type or...

  • Error datasoucre SQL Server 2005 MX7

SQL Server is RC2 of Windows 2003, SQL Server 2005 (9.0.1399)
CF and SQL are on separate computers

    [edit: the fix]

OK, I have to love these guys d ' operators.

So we were she reduced the field to server-> server communication issues... specifically windows authentication.

We have set up a SQL Server user on the SQL Server and configure the data source in coldfusion that used this user of SQL Server (not domain\user, simply user) and jumped the DSN whole system on the Web server and it works.

So the long and short of it is that it seems to be a matter of trust network between our server app (cf) and our db Server (sql) and we are unable to put in place the way datasources which we used for (win2k/cf5-> win2k3/sql2005). Well.

    [/ Edit]

    [Edit: more info]

The SQL Server logs give this error message:

    Error: 18456, severity: 14, State: 6.

I looked towards the top of this error message on msdn ( http://blogs.msdn.com/sql_protocols/archive/2006/02/21/536201.aspx) and they say it means "attempt to use a login name of Windows with SQL authentication.

I made sure that SQL Server is running in «SQL Server and Windows Authentication Mode» (and restarted). No change. Of course Adobe says that you MUST use "SQL Server and Windows Authentication Mode" and Microsoft said the solution to the error is to choose 'Windows Authentication Mode'. Grrr.

I tried to change the JDBC URL to the IP address of the SQL Server and I get the same error mesaage. I purposely fudge the IP and I get a totally different "time out" (duh ;^) error So, anything on the way Cold Fusion talks to SQL Server nor is not quite right.

I feel stupid asking this, but is there a specific documentation on the MX7 connection to SQL Server 2005? Documentation on livedocs is a reference to SQL Server 2000 (I think... but I don't know he's not talking about 2005). I'm starting to wonder if there are a few small not stupid that I missed somewhere along the way when the place of things... * sigh *.

    [/ Edit]

I get the following error message when you try to configure the data source in the Coldfusion administrator:

Connection verification failed for data source: wamaxDS
com.microsoft.sqlserver.jdbc.SQLServerException: failed to connect to the user "UWT\cfusion2".
The root cause was that: com.microsoft.sqlserver.jdbc.SQLServerException: failed to connect to the user "UWT\cfusion2".

I have now, our production company that runs CF 5 connection to the same database on the same SQL Server and does NOT receive the "failed to connect to the user" error... which leads me to believe that it is not a simple permission problem. To be clear, my CF5 box connects fine to the database. My CF7 box will simply not.

I installed the latest JDBC drivers and set up a data source that generates the above error (I get the same error trying to implement as "Microsoft SQL Server" with the obvious exception of the driver in the error being different).

I searched the forums and not set of TCP/IP.
I tried to configure the ODBC DSN in windows using "windows authentication" and the "mixed mode"... I'm just confused here.

I lost track of combinations of things I tried to get this working (you know how you enter in "try everything and pray mode"?... it's me all day today).

I hope I've provided enough information to find someone started helping me. If I've left something out, chastising you please me and let me know what I need to let you know. Sorry if this message is inconsistent... my brain is mush * sigh *.

    Web server is Windows 2003 RC2, MX7.02
SQL Server is RC2 of Windows 2003, SQL Server 2005 (9.0.1399)
CF and SQL are on separate computers

    [edit: the fix]

OK, I have to love these guys d ' operators.

So we were it reduces the field to server-> server communication issues... specifically windows authentication.

We have set up a SQL Server user on the SQL Server and configure the data source in coldfusion that used this user of SQL Server (not domain\user, simply user) and jumped the DSN whole system on the Web server and it works.

So the long and short of it is that it seems to be a matter of trust network between our server app (cf) and our db Server (sql) and we are unable to put in place the datasources of the way we used to (from win2k / cf5-> win2k3/sql2005). Well.
