Start my computer programs are empty

Dear friends,

Today, I noticed that my most of the start up programs like calculator, paint, software adobe reader, programs contain in Accessories, etc. looks like they are empty, they have no symbol or nothing happen when I click on them.

When I go to their C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start start\program scoure and their are also many and most white, that nothing happens when I click on it, I am also attaching some photos.

See... There are empty shortcuts and nothing happen when I click it

Please help is their anyway to return without no system restore or reinstalling windows.

Thanks in advance...

Hi Aakib,

By the publication of the description, the programs contain accessories are empty. The question could be if the system is running a system optimization software or it is infected by a virus.

I suggest you to try the steps in the article mentioned below and see if it helps you to solve the problem.

How to solve the problem where all the Windows 7 desktop icons have become empty? (Items easy Fix)

How to recover programs disappeared from all programs from the Start Menu? -EeeKB

Note: When you use system restore to restore the computer to a previous state, the programs and updates that you have installed are removed.

Hope it would help. If the problem persists post returns with the required information, the current state of your computer and the result of the proposed suggestion, we will be happy to help you.

Kind regards

    Hello

    1. what changes have been made to your computer before the problem?

Follow these steps and check if they help.

    Step 1:

I would say you rebuild the icon cache and check if the problem persists.

    a. press the keyboard Windows logo key combination + R to bring up the Run dialog box.
    b. type cmd and press ENTER to open the command prompt window.
    c. in the command prompt window, type the following commands pressing ENTER after each line:
    Taskkill /f /im explorer.exe
    attrib-h "%userprofile%\Local Settings\Application Data\IconCache.db.
    del "%userprofile%\Local Settings\Application Data\IconCache.db.
    Explorer.exe

    d. this restart Windows Explorer and rebuild the cache icons as needed.

    Step 2:

Test the issue in a new user account.

  • Infected by a virus and programs are empty

I think we've got a virus. Of course, I can get on the internet, but in a weird way. My office is empty and "all programs" says "empty."  I need to try the system restore, but cannot access it. I've tried everything. I don't know that much about computers, but I'm trying to avoid taking it to be fixed.

Try to run the restore of the system at the command prompt:

It looks like your icons are hidden.  Change your settings to show hidden files:
    Panel-> folder-> View (tab) Options
Check the box "show the hidden files and folders".
Uncheck "Hide protected operating system files"
    OK your way out.

If you find that your files are hidden, and then right click on them-> properties-> uncheck "hidden". -> OK

  • How can I determine which programs need to run when I start my computer?

When I start my computer there are so many programs that start running. How will I know that I should really run? Can someone advise me please on this issue?

It seems that I have to add to my previous post that it is best to start to remove the start up programs a little at a time and try to do it with the programs, you know what they are.  Are some of the things that I try to remove Quicken, MS Office, programs that play music (for example Winamp & Real player), anything from Adobe.  Things I leave usually in (in addition to my software antivirus of course) are hardware related like my touchpad, video and audio, and my CD/DVD stuff that needs to be there when I want to burn discs.  This isn't an exhaustive list, but hopefully you get the idea.

Generally when making changes, change a little at a time to ensure that you do not have messed something up.  Run for awhile, and then if everything seems OK, do more than a few changes if necessary.  In this way, if something goes wrong, it's much easier to find the problem.

I hope everything says what I have failed to mention in my previous post.

    Hello

    1. have you made changes on the computer recently?

There is a possibility that another application is at the origin of the conflict with Internet Explorer. Let us check in safe mode with network and then we can check in clean boot to find the root cause of the problem.
    Step A.
Please check if you are facing the same question when working in mode safe mode with networking.
    a. restart your computer.
    b. when the computer starts, you will see your computer hardware are listed. When you see this information tap the F8 on your keyboard key repeatedly until you are presented with the screen Windows Vista Advanced Boot Options.
    c. using the arrow keys, select the desired option of Mode without failure.
    d. press the Enter key on your keyboard to boot mode safe mode of Windows Vista with networking.
    e. when Windows starts, use check and Internet explore if the problem persists.
For more information, refer to the article below.

  • Vista on the computer using hp laptop and when office comes to the screen after start, all icons and programs are amplified.

This just happened to new start-up of three days. Prior to this time everything worked very well. Also it some dialog boxes asking to click to launch an application platform that we know nothing about. We have looked for answers and went to the Control Panel, easy access and off Magnifier. But it is magnified. All icons and applications and the magnified programs.are. No new programs have been installed, no fonts won't changed, none of the DPI changed by us. . Some have suggested to go into the registry, but I'm not here. There are available restore points to restore. I don't know why there are no restore points.  Even went in safe mode and couldn't find the restore point. Our solutions may be next = copy data, use the restore disk, and all reinstall. GOSH, there must be an easier than treatment... Or go to the computer repair shop. Suggestions? Please, I beg you!

  • all programs are needed to start?

all programs are needed to start?

    Apparently not.

I have zero startup items and my system works fine.  That may not work for everyone, but it's the way I like to run - lean and mean hoping for infections of malware if I can keep on my toes on the way to correct
I don't know that anyone could tell you what startup programs, you need or those who you don't need without more information on the issue, trying to solve... or are - this just curiosity.
Where do you see these startup items, that you remember to turn off and what are they?
If you want to help looking at your startup items, I would like to start here:
Since the Microsoft Answers forum does not have any kind of information system request when a new question is asked, we know absolutely nothing about your system.  Not knowing the basic information a problem prolongs the frustration and the agony of these issues.
Thank you MS Answers, allowing the resolution of simple problems as frustrating and a lot of time as possible.
Provide information on your system, the better you can:
What is your system brand and model?
What is your Version of XP and the Service Pack?
What is your Internet browser and version?
Describe your current antivirus and software anti malware situation: McAfee, Symantec, Norton, Spybot, AVG, Avira!, MSE, Panda, Trend Micro, CA, Defender, ZoneAlarm, PC Tools, Comodo, etc..
    Next:
I would like to use CCleaner to watch all your startup items and you might be able to identify and disable the (this may take a few passes) or if you look at the list of startup items and do not know what to do, you can publish a list of your startup items and someone can help you to look at.
    Here's how:
    Download CCleaner here:
CCleaner allows you to manage most of the startup items and also do some other operations oriented cleaning.  Some people will you recommend is not to use the registry functions in CCleaner to avoid these features for now.  I have no problem with it for me, but sometimes it's a contentious issue, I prefer to avoid as much as possible
    !
You can uninstall CCleaner later if you don't like it.
You can disable the startup items, see how things look and if you want to - delete totally useless, or just startup items leave the disabled while you continue troubleshooting.  Note that disabling things does not uninstall anything, and if there is a problem, you can simply re-enable the point.  If you're sure you don't want at all, then you can delete it.
After launch of CCleaner and see what startup items you can disable/remove, if you are still not sure of your startup items, follow these steps:
Run CCleaner and choose Tools, boot and bottom right, click on the button "Save to text file" to save the startup information in a text file on your desktop with a name you remember - something like startup.txt
Save the boot information text file on your desktop (or somewhere you can find it) open the text file with an editor (Notepad or WordPad), select all (Ctrl-A), copy text, all the text selected in the Windows Clipboard (Ctrl-C) and then paste (Ctrl + V) the contents of the startup list to come back here in your next reply and maybe someone can tell you other things to consider.
A more revealing startup Analyzer is Autoruns which will allow the manipulation of all sectors of boot and does not actually install anything:
I have zero startup items on my computer and my startup list is empty, so none of this is important to me!
