  That's very true, I used gparted before checking this again, and it was corrupted. Very well! I ended up installing windows 10 home using a free student license. It's perfect, since I have windows 8.1 before running on the 1 TB hard drive and it was filled with bloatware, thanks to HP (no offense). So, it is nice to have a clean install. Everything works fine now, I had to change some settings of 'Legacy Boot' in the bios to boot from the USB.

  A friend gave me your laptop to watch - there edition family vista (64 bit (I think) on it and when you try to run Explorer he says it does not find or access is denied and something about 16 bit / 64 bit (it has been a few days and I'm not memory clearly until what I try again tonight)

  I guess that I didn't that I had seen the name "verclsid.exe" in some of these error messages trying to run things.  I looked and saw it was to check the files or something.
  Anyway I couldn't rename even in admin console so I started in a different environment and renamed the copy in system32 and syswow64.
  Now, I've started and bang things seem to be ok! I guess I should try and replace it with a known working version? That or just give back it.
  I doubt that everybody does all c:\windows control total should be too dangerous, right... just?  : P I don't have a way to put permissions by default anyway, so Hey.  Formatting beats!

• Backups not starting not not in time on demand

  Running Windows Vista SP1.  Backups were starting their scheduled time until recently.  Now they does not start as expected, but I have no problem running them manually ("backup files" of the control panel).  I did the following to this day:

  1. in the control panel. Backup restore & reset backups scheduled start time to another time and then place it back at the time, I want backups to operate; has not fixed the problem.

  2. in administrative tools. Scheduler of tasks, I did the same thing as #1 (i.e., reset start time safeguards: a different way). has not fixed the problem.

  3. I ran a full backup and set the scheduled for subsequent backups as part of the installation backup procedure; has not fixed the problem.  Backups will not start at the specified time, no problem running them manually.

  At this point, I don't know what else to try.  If anyone has any ideas or has encountered this problem, please let me know.
