  Hi, I hope someone can help me to solve this problem, because it drives me crazy. I have Dell Inspiron 4500 which HDD is running out of space. There was also a problem with the disc essentially installed 2 new 1 x 120 GB Maxtor hard drives and 1 x 320 GB Hitachi. I installed Windows XP Home Edition on the Maxtor from scratch and load all the drivers and patches, etc... However whenever I try to put in place the Hitachi under NTFS, it falls on the formatting.   Click on "disk management".

  I recently damaged my R100 thanks to a virus attack. Despite late cleaning things up with Norton, it will now very slowly and I think that the only way forward is through a total reinstall XP.

  I have the original recovery CD and a USB floppy drive but not a PCMIA CD-ROM. As luck would have my USB CDRom is broken. How can I get out of this situation? I'm about to throw an old desk and would be happy to use the XP retail on the R100, if necessary. Desperate people make desperate methods!

  If you can get the installation on the R100 HARD disk files using a FAT32 partition, you can install Windows from the HARD drive after booting from a bootable MS-DOS floppy. (MSDOS can not see NTFS drives).

  You can use a 1.8 "adapter HARD USB drive to copy the installation files on the disk HARD R100 from another PC. The adapter would be cheap.

  Have you installed/updated a driver/software before that? You should uninstall in safe mode and try again.
