Static configuration

Hello.

Is it possible to jump my network in Hyperic autodetection/discovery and define all nodes/services manually? Is it possible to do using an external program/script?

Best regards

Here is an article on disabling the auto-discovery.

VMware KB: Disable automatic discovery for VMware vFabric Hyperic Agent 4.2.x/4.3.x/4.4.x/4.5.x

If you want to manually create resources, HQAPI would be the way to go.

Hope this helps

  • local host to access the vpn site to site with nat static configured

I have two 881 routers with vpn site to site between them. I have a static nat on the router for a Web server that is accessible from the internet. I can't access the Web server through the vpn. All other traffic is fine its VPN. I think that there is a problem with the NAT. Here are the relevant configuration lines.

IP nat inside source overload map route SDM_RMAP_1 interface FastEthernet4
IP nat inside source static 192.168.150.2 bonnefin map route SDM_RMAP_1

    allowed SDM_RMAP_1 1 route map

    access-list 100 permit ip 192.168.150.0 0.0.0.255 any

You should be able to access the web server with its IP private (192.168.150.2) through the VPN connection.

If you just add the VPN and the road map, try to clear the existing translation and see if you can access it via its private of the Remote LAN VPN ip address.

  • Static configuration of iSCSI targets

I was playing with New-IScsiHbaTarget, but has problems.  Each of my iSCSI Target names has the same IP address for the iSCSI server, and he didn't like that.  I tried something like:

    New-HBA target HBA - vmhba33-address 10.0.0.10 - static Type - nomiscsi iqn.2003 - 10.com.lefthandnetworks:blah:blah - 001

and that seems to work, but when I tried:

    New-HBA target HBA - vmhba33-address 10.0.0.10 - static Type - nomiscsi iqn.2003 - 10.com.lefthandnetworks:blah:blah - 002

He would say that "the specified target '10.0.0.10:3260' already exists... but I can't add these volumes manually using the client vSphere...

We have a bunch of iSCSI volumes, and we are forced to use static targets for each.  For each vmhba on each host (vmhba33, vmhba35), without a script, we have to manually add each iSCSI target name.  So for 5 guests with 2 adapters for iscsi and 10 Mon, it's 100 steps.  Or someone at - it a script that can add several static targets?-preferably something that can extend over several hosts.

    Thank you very much!

You're right, this looks like a bug.

Until the problem is resolved, you can use the AddInternetScsiStaticTargets method directly.

    Something like that

    $esx = Get-VMHost MyEsx
    $hStorSys = Get-View $esx.ExtensionData.ConfigManager.StorageSystem

    $targets = @()
    $targets += $tgt1$targets += $tgt2
    $hStorSys.AddInternetScsiStaticTargets($iScsiHba,$targets)

  • General question about DHCP network configuration

In the past, I've always set up printers on network with a static IP address. With the proliferation of networked printers and progress in the printer driver software, I wonder if the static configuration is always recommended and necessary.

Let's say I have install an Officejet 6500 wireless printer configured for DHCP and it gets an address 192.168.1.7. To continue, the printer driver is installed on the computers all networked and the printer port is listed as HPxxx192.168.1.7. After a break from running, say that the address assigned dynamically changes printer 192.168.1.5, leading to the question... to will the computers still be able to print to the printer who has now a new IP address? Basically, is the intelligent print driver so that he will direct the print jobs to the new address without additional configuration? (perhaps the answer varies depending on the printer model and the operating system of the client)

I have installed HP network printers on a regular basis in a variety of operating system environments. So the question in more specific general. I don't feel a particular problem at this stage. But when I configure network printers in the future, an answer to the question will be useful.

    Thanks in advance.

It depends on.  On older printers a static IP address is very important on the latest not so much. It is really dependent on the platform on which rests the HP software.  HP printers currentlyon market, in theory, do not need static IP addresses.

In addition, when you set a static IP address, I always put one outside DHCP pool.  If the range is the range (.2 a.254) I reduced the scope and then put printers outside the pool.  This way there is never any conflict.

This configuration works for a unique dynamic counterpart, and it also works if I add peers with the same pre-shared-key.

However, I would add tunnel groups for many different peers dynamic in order to have different pre-shared keys for each of them; I tried several times but I don't see any work phase 1.

Can someone help me with this?

    Thank you very much.

If it is dynamic to static IPSec LAN-to-LAN tunnel, the answer is no, you can set different pre shared key for dynamic lan-to-lan tunnels because the peer ip address might be different. However, if the peer address is static, you can create a static encryption card (However, which requires static configuration for each remote peer).

  • APEX 5 - problem with static files after Installation

After some research, I discovered, that static files normally appear in my workspace in the Administration Services - I can access it and download it. BUT: When I compared the scheme with APEX_050000 APEX_040200 in the database, I discovered, that static files were not copied to the new instance (in the view APEX_WORKSPACE_FILES are just a few files...).

  • 11 GR 2 - statically define listener.ora in GRID_HOME with earpiece of SCAN.

    Hello

    Grid infrastructure 11.2.0
    11.2.0.3 DB & DB 10.2.0.4.3

For all databases on this CAR, I encouraged the handful of earphone Grid Infrastructure SCAN all connections which is fine. However, without using the DBHOME Local listener - how statically set listener values in the listener.ora GRID_HOME?

On some of my setup, where Dataguard is present - I'll need to statically define XPT, DGB in the listener.ora so that these services can be tuned so that the broker deals with Dataguard failovers. They will allow databases to be restarted automatically, without having to 'manually' start of the databases.

Mind you, some of my configurations do not require the XPT and DGB to be defined statically so that the databases to be started automatically during a failover.

Define statically XPT and DGB was a workaround solution Metalink offered also on my SR for a long time, but it was more clearly defined under DBHOME listener.ora. Less than 11g GRID_HOME, seems to be more dynamic.

    In what format?

This is what is currently in listener.ora GRID_HOME.

    perdevora01:Oracle-VPMPER:/apps/grid/product/11.2.0/grid_1/network/admin>cat listener.ora

  • Script to set the static Mac address

I have an Infrastructure virtual with about 200 vm with several vNIC and automatic Mac address. I need to assign static Mac for all NICs for and want to perform this operation with a powershell script and a csv input file. I have the entry csv file that looks like this: Vm, portgroup Mac Vm1 00:11:22:33 Vm1, pg1, pg2, 00:11:22:44 Vm2, pg1, 00:11:44:44 (I know the Mac above are not valid) can anyone help with the powershell code to automate the static configuration of mac?  Thanks in advance

    Hello, ITS.

You should be able to use the following to achieve:

    ## import the info from the CSV$colNICInfo = Import-Csv c:\vmNICInfo.csv$colNICInfo | %{ $oSingleNICInfo = $_ ## get the VM, get its NetworkAdapters and for the one whose NetworkName matches that from the CSV, set its MAC address Get-VM $oSingleNICInfo.VMName | Get-NetworkAdapter | ?{$_.NetworkName -eq $oSingleNICInfo.NetwkName} | Set-NetworkAdapter -MacAddress $oSingleNICInfo.MACAddr -Confirm:$false -WhatIf} ## end foreach-object

    A few things to note:

    • I left the '-WhatIf "parameter on the Set-NetworkAdapter portion, so that you can run this first (perhaps with a small sample of game in the CSV file) to check that things look like they will work.  Remove this parameter to set the MAC addresses
    • The code provides that the CSV of this format:
      MACAddr VMName, NetwkName,
      someVM, VLAN128, 00:50:56:00:00:0F
    • The cmdlet Set-NetworkAdapter requires the new MAC address in the range 00:50:56:00:00:00 - 00:50:56:3F:FF:FF.  It's not the range likely to use, VMware only a subset.  Seems to be a limitation of the cmdlet (probably intentional).

Message edited by mattboren: added a note about removing "-WhatIf" to actually set the MAC addresses of the network adapters

  • Wireless Cardbus - Tecra 9100

    Hello

I have just re-installed XP SP2 on my 9100 and have downloaded different drivers from the Toshiba web site and even went to the Intel web site and got the specific Chipset drivers, most of the stuff works now.
But the main problem is the internal wireless card does not function perfectly, it is seen by XP and can connect to my router wirelessly using the key WEP etc but it does not pick up an address DHCP and if I statically configure an IP address in I can't ping anything (loopback ping works) the fixed Ethernet port works fine.
I also have an external Wireless PCMCIA card which behaves in the exact same way. So the thing in common, that I can see is the Cardbus TI PCI-1410/ToPIC100 controllers, they use the generic Microsoft drivers, anyone know where I can get drivers updated for them? TI website is no help! Or have any other suggestions? (I n t have the recovery CD!)

    Thank you very much

    Trent.

P.S. Can't display driver to work either the access key.

    Hello

First you must install the utility chipset on the Toshiba site and not the site of Intel because Toshiba is recommended to install the drivers from the download area of Toshiba.
If you install the operating system manually (not from the recovery CD) so it is very important that you install Toshiba stuff in the right order.
After you install SP2 and windows, you must install the driver from chipset from Toshiba site and the common modules. After this installation, you can install graphic driver driver audio, etc.
Please also check the information of SP2 from Microsoft Update Web site.

Is it you wireless problem: I think it s a router issue because the two wireless cards can peak t the DHCP address. Well, nevertheless the TCP/IP protocol must be set on automatically and please check if the windows wireless configuration is enabled.
I recommend also to disable the encryption, then try the connectivity.
