Status of messy score in several hard drives

I found something weird looking at the partitions of hard disks in my office...

Disk 0 is a SSD drive with two partitions:

-System reserved (g) is 100 MB (active, primary Partition) - unknown content

-OS (C :) is 112 GB (Boot, page File, Crash Dump, primary Partition) - contains Windows system/applications)

Disc 1 is a HARD disk drive and has three partitions:

-Partition 39 MB EOM - unknown content

-OSBkp (d) is 12 GB (System, active, primary Partition) - content unknown

-Data (E :) is Go 920 (Primary Partition) - personal content)

I think that the OSBkp partition (D :) on disc 1 should be on disk 0 and named differently.

What should I do to get the installation program appropriate disk 0 and get rid of the (d) OSBkp on disk 1?

I know that my desktop Dell computer originally had only the HARD disk drive and the SSD Traoré was added later with the operating system.

Thank you

Daniel

Hello

I was able to move everything I hoped - with a little work and some frustrations with the third party partition manager that offers...

(a) it did not provide more features than Windows without Disk Manager to pay for it.

(b) it installed in fact two applications and one of them took control on my browser configuration!

I spent two hours to get rid of that junk :-(

After removing the two applications, I was able to install all my drives using Windows Disk Manager and end up with the following:

0 disk (SSD):

-Reserved system (System, Active, primary Partition)

-OS (C :)) (startup, crash dump, primary Partition))

Disc 1 (HHD):

-Data (e :)) (Page file, primary Partition) - file here instead of on my SSD)

-Bkp (g) (Primary Partition)

My problem is then solved - part of you that helped me to understand what went on and by myself using standard Windows disk management application.

  • Dell Precision 690 workstation several hard drives

I have a Dell Precision 690 and I am trying to connect the hard drives in the right order. The documentation says they must go into the HARD drive marked locations on the motherboard, but they do not work. The only slots that work are the SATA slots. I tested five SATA drives but I can only get three to work on three SATA slots instead of four locations of HARD drive and slot extra SATA as the book said to do.

I tried which helps the controller under the BIOS: has no significance if it is enabled or disabled. I determined that AHCI is unable to be activated, it must be ATA.

In the end, I need to have five total drives. Four in the slots in the HARD drive and the other in the SATA slot. (Which will be for operating system 1 SATA and SAS RAID 4). I realize that the HDD_0, 1, 2, 3 locations are to use SAS/SATA but I can't take too much work.

In addition, I don't ' know if this is important or not, but he has Windows XP Professional x 64. BIOS A05 and I know an update is A08, I did do that yet though.

Anywhere I can find that material assistance would be much appreciated.

    -E.Avalon (help).

Yes, there are three ports labeled SATA (0,1,2) and four ports labeled as HARD drive (0,1,2,3). The manual says to connect hard drives in HARD drive ports, then in the SATA ports. The first two SATA ports are for additional optical drives and the last port is used for a fifth hard drive.

I got in touch with several people in technical assistance from Dell and eventually find the right driver to install.

Because I don't have the OEM disc that came with the computer, I was doing a new installation of a Windows disc. I needed F6 (third party drivers) to activate the HARD disk ports until the installation has taken place. (And honestly I don't remember what the file was immediately.)

The AHCI could not be activated because the discs I have are Serial ATA disks and in the BIOS, there is a choice between ATA and AHCI.

The problem is solved and I feel like I could do a test on this computer and become a technician for her.

  • Windows 7 seems to have unexplained memory use high after a scan of viruses of several hard drives.

    My computer:

    • 6 GB of installed memory, normal use is about 1.5 GB
    • 3 hard disks of the computer (OS [Raid 0]. 2 data readers)
    • Windows 7 64 bit

    Problem:

    • After analysis the entire computer, the use of memory up to 3.5 GB of jumps and stay until the computer is restarted.
    • Research in the Task Manager and resource monitor shows the memory used, but running programs don't add to what be close to 3.5 GB
    • I tested it with AVG and Avira antivirus, and it happens with both. Then he would lead me to believe it's a matter of Windows.

    Troubleshooting:

    • Tried it with several antivirus, same problem with ones I've tried.
    • Scanned just the OS partition without significant increase in memory usage.
    • Scanned two data discs. Memory usage has jumped about 1 GB during the analysis of the first hard drive and another 1 GB when on the second disc. Use of memory are remained high, once the completed scan. Subsequent analyses retains high memory usage.

    Question:

    • What is causing this behavior? Indexing, or is it some sort of memory leak?

  • Is it possible to split the Windows 7 on several hard drives?

    Hi all!

I have a question I asked on for a while and have never found an answer to.

I use Linux and Windows together and I like the two operating systems, and one thing I LIKE about Linux, it is how it is easy to split on several partitions/hard disks.  If I want to put my/home folder on a different partition of the root folder that is located on a different drive of my Swap and / boot partitions, no problem! In fact, in some ways, it is almost encouraged/forced to make a system like this.

Now, my question is can I do the same thing during the installation of Windows? (I mean Windows 7, but a response for all versions would be nice, too.) Specifically, can I have my 'Program Files' and the contents of the "Program Files (x 86)" folder exists on another drive and the rest of Windows partitions and have these partitions mounted these subfolders under C:\? The reason why I ask is that I received a Solid State Drive, and I don't want to fill it with all my programs/games that exist in those folders.

Thanks a lot for the answers you can provide.

    Sincerely,

    Austin

  • The reorganization of several hard drives in customers?

Hi again.  I'm under VMware 6.5.1 Windows XP host, Linux comments.

I have several VMware "virtual hard drives" in my comments.

There seems to be no UI within VMware to establish the order of in that these disks are visible.  When I create and delete records over time, the order gets randomly mixed around.  This causes problems with the start of Linux.

I can manually edit the GRUB file and fdisk, but it is a pain,

as it must be repeated for each guest and wonder if there is a

    best way.

If the VMware UI to edit the comments configuration had a 'Move up' and 'Move down' button for devices, it would be great!  It would be useful to establish the order of hard drives, and other devices such as Ethernet cards.

As a feature of the wishlist, it would be nice to have a way to specify where each IDE drive appears to.  Main master primary slave, second master, secondary slave.  Similarly, the SCSI drives should allow me set the device ID.

Yes, there is a current solution for this limitation, which will allow me to rearrange the order in which records are visible in the comments?

    Thank you!

    Two ways to Rome...

through GUI: select the disc in question in the form "Edit virtual hardware" - click on advanced - the value of the scsi0.0 device node. or else - there is a drop-down list for this operations

by editing the vmx file: adjust the entries in the vmx manually - file make sure you do not change the device for the boot disk node

  • Total GB of VM with several hard drives

    Hi all!

It is probably an easy one.  How can I get the total amount (GB) of hard drive space to a virtual computer with multiple disks.

I used the following to get the result.

    $harddisk = get-machine virtual vmname | Get-hard drive

    $harddisk.capacitygb

If the virtual machine has 3 discs to 100GB each output is:

    100

    100

    100

How can I add the total of each disk and total output?

    Any help is appreciated!

    -Justin

    Use the Measure-Object cmdlet.

    $harddisk | Measure-object-property CapacityGB-sum | Select sum - ExpandProperty

  • Several hard drives

I just got a Dell 2950 III with 6x1TB drives that I intend using virtual machine. What is the best way to put in place so I can enjoy the storage full I availible for VM? Should I go ahead and install ESX then in ESX create extensions? Or do I have to go about it another way?

And just as an observation. I received that one server at the moment, but our final installation will be actually 2 Dell 2950 III with discs hard 6x1TB.

And if there is a post somewhere before in this topic I apologize.

As a first step, you should think about type of load disk in your virtual machines and choose appropriate RAID. Then slice it to LUNS not more than 2 TB each.

After that ESX or ESXi will create default layout on LUNS that you choose to boot from and automatically creates the VMFS data store on the remaining space. ESX take a few gigabytes for himself.

All other LUNS will be available for manual creation of data store.

You can of course check if Xtravirt Virtual SAN is interesting for you, because the ESX servers with BIG local data store is primarily intended for server consolidation.

  • MISSING hard drive volumes (D / & f /)

    I got 4 partitions on my hard drive(C, D, E, F). but now I can not find D & F readers

    Windows displays C & E readers. readers D & f are missing.

also, when I attach my USB, windows displays the USB in the D drive under devices with removable storage

How can I find the 2 lack of readers back?

    Help, please...!

    Hi John,.

-You have all four partitions on a hard drive? Or you have several hard drive installed in the computer?

-Since when are you facing this problem?

-Don't you make changes before this problem started?

This can happen if you have several hard drives on your computer and if you lose the connection to one of the hard drive.

First of all I suggest you to check if you have several hard drives and check the connections.

You can also go to disk management and check if the hard drive and partitions are recognized in disk management.  To access the management drives follow the steps below:

    1. Click Start.
    2. In the start menu search box type diskmgmt.msc and press ENTER.
    3. In disk management, check the reader connected to the computer and the partitions.

Post back the result, after checking with the hard disk in disk management and by checking your computer for several hard disks.

I hope this helps. Post back and let us know the status.

I have replaced several hard drives on some laptops but I have never used any further papers of aluminum and I have no problem with the temperature.
In my opinion, it is not necessary.
