Status of the host down to DB OAM nodes

Hi all

I see that my host db node status is displayed in red (bottom) in OAM but our database and listener is running.
AppsVer:r12.1.1

OS LInux 5

What would be the reason?

Thank you

  • SDK API to use to check the status of the host after RebootHost_Task API perl for VMware

    I use the RebootHost_Task API, ping the server ESX to check if it is in place (using the Net::Ping module), then using ExitMaintenanceMode_Task to get out of the mode of maintenance for the ESX Server.

    I sometimes lack of InvalidHostConnectionState when I trigger ExitMaintenanceMode_Task. This is because even if the ESX host is to ping requests, the SOAP request has failed. What Vmware perl API SDK can be used to check the status of the host before triggering the aPI ExitMaintenanceMode_Task

    Probably the best way is to check the HostSystem runtime.connectionState.

    $host = Vim::find_entity_view (view_type-online 'HostSystem', properties-online ['name', 'runtime.connectionState'], filter => {-online $host_name 'name'});

    $connected = 0;

    until the ($connected) {}

    $host-> update_view_data();

    $connected = $host-> {'runtime.connectionState'};

    # Add a timeout here break

    }

    #.. .do something with newly restarted host

    I also used the runtime.bootTime in the past, where I waited for the value is longer than the previous string XSD time recorded before the restart request (with a long timeout to avoid problems).  It's better than the connectionState option since it manages the window between the restart request and the actual restart.  It * doesn't * updated until the host is connected again (and available to call you to leave the maintenanceMode).

    These values using works even when the host is not connected (cached by the vCenter API service), so you can wait for them to change (and in the case of connectionState, once again).  You'll just take into account the window of the application restart and real reboot before you start querying using connectionState.

    You can probably drop your logic of ping, so if encode you correctly around the State API variables for the host.

  • Status of the host (red, yellow)?

    Hello.

    A simple question, I think that...

    It is possible to know the status of the host? alias: Red State, yellow State or Ok...

    I see Get-VMHost shows State and ConnectionState attributes. Maybe the State?

    Thank you in advance.

    Best regards.

    Try again with

    Get-VMHost | Select Name,@{N="Alarm State; » E={$_. ExtensionData.overallStatus}}

    The State property is depreciated, and it shows connected/disconnected/NotResponding/maintenance.

  • Status of the host

    Hello together,

    I have a strange question.

    I know that States to host returned by the powercli. Connected, disconnected and maintenance.

    But when I put a host in maintenance with 1 TB of RAM it takes a lot of time. Meanwhile our can´t script deploy new VM´s because the status is returned as connected.

    But when the host on the way to the Maintenance of the CLI output looks like this:

    VM-new operation is not valid due to the current state of the object.

    So the vCenter got another status...

    How can I get the status? Any idea?

    Thanks Rainer

    As far as I know, this is not a property you can recover.

    The CreateVM-task method receives an InvalidState of vSphere Server error.

    What might help is to query methods with disabilities.

    At the time wherever you set an ESXi host in maintenance mode, the method EnterMaintenanceMode_Task appears in the list.

    $esx = get-VMHost-name MyEsx

    if($ESX.) ExtensionData.DisabledMethod | where {$_ - match 'EnterMaintenanceMode_Task'}) {}

    "ESXi is in maintenance mode.

    }

    else {}

    "Go on, create a virtual machine.

    }

    Is it ok if the status of the host is checked-active time on both nodes?

    Thank you very much

    Ms. K

    Hello

    Is it ok if the status of the host is checked-active time on both nodes?

    Yes, because each node represents one (or more services) and both are active (upward).

  • Network host adapter and the status of the connection

    Does anyone know the property of the object to get the host 'Link Status' network adapter?

    I can get the name of the NETWORK adapter and the speed duplex but nothig on the status of the connection

    Thank you

    You can not get the status of link directly (as far as I know).

    You can detect the status of "link down" through the linkSpeed in PhysicalNic object property.

    You can use something like this

    (Get-VmHost  | Get-View).Config.Network.Pnic | %{
         if($_.LinkSpeed -eq $null){
              Write-Host $_.Device "Link down"

  • Plugged in the new maps the host network but show as 'down' in vCenter

    Hello

    I hope someone can help me.  I'm under ESXi 5.1 on 3 different servers.  They each have 4 network cards, but for some reason when our IT installed in the data center, they decided to connect just 2 network cards in each server in our dedicated physical switch.  They presented themselves as vmnic0 and vmnic1 in vCenter and can be used.

    I asked them to connect 2 additional network cards they have done today.  These are connected to the same physical switch. They appear as vmnic2 and vmnic3 in vCenter.  They are always displayed as "Down" for the speed and 'None' for the observed range of IP addresses.

    I tried to restart a host without change.  I connected to one of the hosts through Putty to try to get him to help

    # esxcli network nic place vmnicX - n

    But that does not change. No error is given, but when I list the network cards they always see down and still there in vCenter.

    Any ideas?

    Thank you

  • How to remove a VM inventory in vcentre when the host is down

    Hi guys,.

    We had a power outage today where one of our physical ESX host is dead (we have 2 VM cluster hosts).  HA/DRS unfortunately does not work as there are insufficient resources to automatically migrate the virtual machines on the host failed through to the host remaining (another separate question that I will not here address)

    when the hsot went down, virtual machines have been left in the market, but were in a disconnected state (see table).  I read that you can reallocate virtual machines to another host by 'navigate to the data store and do a right-click on the vmx file and click Add to inventory and select the host. " (Ref: ) http://communities.VMware.com/thread/173314 )

    However when I browse to the data store, the option 'Add to inventory' has also dimmed.  I suspect (Please confirm) that he wwas because the virtual machine in question was still at the "running" State  problematic, because that disconnected/running state, I could not close it out vcentre gui (or console, as host was dead)

    can someone tell me how - if possible - can I migrate the virtual machine to another host, while in the situation described above?

    If this is not possible for future situations where the host is lost, I would be better together virtual machine to stop? (this would allow me to reassign the vms can?)

    see you soon

    The virtual machine will remain in the host inventory and disappear once you remove the host to vCenter inventory. What you then do - at least that's what I would probably - to be able again to power on virtual machines is to register the virtual machine to other hosts on the server vCenter Server (click right the VM .vmx file and choose 'Add to inventory')-after the correction of the host and before adding it again to vCenter Server - connect directly to this host and then delete the virtual machine already 'moved' from his inventory.

    What you need to do after registration of VM for other hosts is to check the VM based backup applications (if used), because the virtual machine will receive new ID.

  • Access error in the status of material on the hosts to vCenter

    I have a virtual machine on one of my hosts, 64-bit Windows 2008 SP2, with of VMware vCenter Server installed on it. I connect to manage all my guests. I changed the NETBIOS name of the virtual from Windows machine to comply with the new standards of the convention of naming on our network, and now I have the following problem when you try to access the page of material status on my hosts. It works fine if I connect directly to the host, but no longer works via vCenter... Someone knows how to fix this? It must have something to do with the change of name, because it worked fine before the change.

    I don't myself yet, but maybe http://vr0x0r0man.blogspot.com/2010/08/rename-vcenter-41-server.html can help solve the problem.

  • Follow-up status for the Cluster host list

    Hello

    I write a short script to list out all the properties of my clusters in my environment. One of the properties is monitoring of the host State (should be checked/enabled). Is there anyway that I could ask it via PowerCli? I'm just using something like below, but lack the surveillance state host. Thank you!

    Get-cluster | FL name, HAEnabled, DrsEnabled, DrsAutomationLevel, HAAdmissionControlEnabled

    This property is located in the Extensiondata, which corresponds to the object HostSystem .

  • HA, host down, not reboot VM on the second node

    Hello...

    I'm testing the Esxi5, and I have a problem with HA.

    I configured a Cluster and two guests on it.

    Cluster - CLUSTER name

    Host 1 IP - name VMWARE0 - 10.0.0.9 (Master - vMotion Enabled) - Dell PowerEdge R715 - AMD Opteron 6136 - 64 GB of RAM

    The 2 - name VMWARE1 - 10.0.0.10 IP host (Slave - vMotion Enabled) - Dell PowerEdge R715 - AMD Opteron 6136 - 64 GB of RAM

    I used reconfigured for vsphere HA on both hosts

    There is no virtual machine in production, only the tests yet.

    But when I reboot VMWARE0, virtual machines powered are moved to VMWARE1 in off State, but they are not started automatically.

    When the VMWARE0 end reboot all virtual machines come back and then they are started according to the configuration of "Virtual Machine Startup/Shutdown" on the host computer.

    Y at - it a Bug that we need to correct or I do something wrong?

    vCenter Server and vSphere Client - Version 5.0.0 - build - 455964

    ESXi - 5.0.0 - 20120302001

    Thank you very much...

    No, the virtual machines will not migrate back once the host is up and running again. This must be done manually. If you have any DRS in place, DRS can choose this host for recently powered on VMs (initial investment) or migrate virtual machines on that host, in the case where the other host is overloaded.

  • Unable to communicate with the host computer using the network University compactRIO

    Please move this topic to the appropriate section if it is not the right section. I can't locate a Council called the compactRIO. Thank you very much.

    I encounter this problem of network communication with my cRIO 9067. the linklocal or USB connection is fine but not static IP connection on the network. I contacted the it Department to assign me a static IP address for my MAC address of cRIO. In our University, they block only unknown MAC address access and the cRIO is in the whitelist. Here are the details

    cRIO attributed to IP address: 129.12.54.xxx, tried both netmask 255.255.255.0 and 255.255.0.0, no luck

    the host computer's static IP address: 129.12.50.xxx, subnet mask 255.255.255.0 (information of cmd - ipconfig)

    First question would be: they are on the same subnet? I need to make sure that even if scientists confirm that.

    Secondly, I followed https://www.ni.com/getting-started/set-up-hardware/compactrio/static-ip by using the IP address assigned, but not luck. I've noticed that I configure same address type cRIO static IPv4 using the USB connection or for local link mode, she went in DHCP mode or Local link once I unplug the USB and restart it.

    Whenever I restart MAX, connect the cRIO and my host to Ethernet jack on the wall, it shows the DHCP mode or link with assigned Local 129.12.54.xxx IP and the subnet mask 255.255.255.248. In addition, I am not able to change it in a drop-down list even after removing it and restart MAX indicated by tutorials OR.

    If you need more information, please let me know.

    Help, please!

    Jinyu

    Dear Mikko,

    I am pleased to tell you that the problem has been resolved. The cRIO works very well.

    The reason why it does not work is in first place because they are in the other subnet. For my school, my host is 12x.1x.54.130 and the IP assigned to my cRIO is 12x.1x.54.131. the subnet mask is 255.255.255.0 number marked in red must be the same for the cRIO is connected correctly.

    Kind regards

  • Start the host program automatically starts the RT program

    Hey guys,.

    I'm in a test phase and wanted to ask if it is possible to start the RTW program automatically, when I start my host VI. I don't have any executable for the moment because I am in the test phase, but I only want to support on "the button execute on the host VI and start (RT and HOST) screws.

    Is that possible or do I have to press two buttons to run?

    Kind regards

    Slev1n

    As Crossrulz notes, LabVIEW RT is essentially to another computer, does not Windows but rather running a real-time operating system (if on PharLap an Intel processor, often a version of Linux on FPGA hardware, I think).  It has always been necessary for these targets of RT to be 'on' and 'something', of course.  In the early days of LabVIEW Real-time, they sat often slowed down and you would use VI server to download and launch your RT code on them.  With the advent of the LabVIEW project (much) better to manage the objectives of the RT as, OR goes to a slightly different model where, as Crossrulz points out, the RT Code is supposed to be downloaded to the target and configured to start automatically running when the target is powered.

    In development Mode, there are provisions to download ("Deploy") and start the target RT and (theoretically), it should be possible to do it programmatically.  I tried to do this, but it was noticeably awkward that I have "gave in" and (except when in development Mode) practical to develop recommended follow-up of OR deploy and defined as starting on the target of RT.

    The idea, of course, is that if you know that the target RT is running when you start the host, the target should wait for the host to send a signal saying ' Hi, Target, are you ready to start working with me? (the target, of course, answered "Sure, let's get started...") »).  How to set up the first handshakes, it is up to you.

    Note that this model assumes / requires that until the host stops, it informs the RT target that she came out, allowing target RT back to its State "in expectation of the host."  A really simple way to do this, of course, is for the host to tell the target to reboot, which in fact boost its Startup Code (which is the target RT program).
