  I'm curious to know what I see using TestStand, LabWindows/2013 2013 with regard to initial in TestStand string values when you perform the steps in the process or an external instance of LabWindows/CVI.

  I have a step (CVI) string value that is used to check an array of characters stored in an EEPROM to test.  I pass on the Step.Result.String in the CVI by reference.  I then read the table charater of the EEPROM in the chain (Step.Result.String).  The string is then compared against the limit as specified in the test step breast.

  When I run this test step to perform the steps in the process selected in the popup Configuration of the adapter of LabWindows/CVI, it seems that the memory allocated for the string is filled with null characters.  Which is what I expected.

  When I run this test step to execute the steps in an external instance of LabWindows/CVI iselected of the Configuration of the adapter of LabWindows/CVI popup, it seems that the memory allocated for the string is filled with something else.  That is not what I expected.  For example what I see in the memory, it's the first characher is one byte NULL but the remaining bytes are some other values, as shown below:

  In my code I make sure to write a null character in the following location table charater I just write in the chain so I have no problem with the test is working properly.  I have remove the writing from my code null character and was able to verity that the test passes when executing the steps in the process and fails during execution of the steps in an external instance of LabWindows/CVI.

  The returned string contains what I wrote for her, and then the rest of the string is filled with the values that are in the memory allocated for the string.

  Here's my Question: is this the expected behavior for the original string values in TestStand between both types of stage performances?

  In general teststand not Initializes the unused portion of the string buffer, so it is expected that the values of the memory after character no endpoint will be different, or even to each call. If you happen to be get zeros after the null terminator which was probably due to random character (i.e. the memory allocated just arrived already having zeros in there) or perhaps a debug setting you use perhaps in the Visual C runtime (if you are debugging the process in visual studio or modify visual C runtime heap parameter). TestStand is not initializaing memory after the null terminator character in both cases (I checked the code).

  Development environment: TestStand 2010 SP1 and LabVIEW 2010 SP1

  Problem: is there a way to run the following steps programmatically and get values out of each of them?

  I have already extended a bit a complete interface IO for TestStand load any sequence, choose among the measures and execute step by step (something as an alternative to the steps run selected). What I'm trying to do is to add some actions between each step and do in the UI (I can't change the sequence!), so I start the NewExecution with some previously configured InteractiveArgsParam and option breakAtFirstStep set to true. Eventually I do just something like step over when debugging the sequence and it works well, but I didn't do well a way yet to read the output values of the place...

  So, if I wait before the end of the run I can read my results by treating the ResultObject, but it works only after the completion of the test sequence. Because I wanted to stop after each step, read the values, do some actions and continue to the next step, I've tried to register a running Trace event reminder View Manager. I see that after each step is executed, this event is fired, but when I try to read that a ResultObject returned in the event data it is not filled with values (ResultList seems to be empty?). Is this a correct behavior or maybe I'm reading the wrong way? (It's the same VI regarding the reading of the ResultObjects after the sequence ends and there it works very well for tables, containers and other types of data).

  As I mentioned I can't change Test sequences, I can not add a UImessages.

  What are my options? If the trace event returns output all the values from each steps or is it just used to check the status? Or maybe there's a completely different approach to this issue?

  When you manipulate the UIMessage trace (you need this before the return of the event or you will present the race conditions), download myuimessage. Thread. Then call Thread.GetSequenceContext (0, & Iplease).

  And then on the context of the sequence, either go to PreviousStep.Result if it exists, or watch Locals.ResultList.

  Trace events occur between the steps executed step the more recently is the previous step, but it is also a trace event to the beginning before any measure have run at this time, there will be a previous step.

  Perform the steps mentioned below and check if that helps:

  Step 1:

  Flight Simulator x: using a gamepad

  Usually, vista Windows 7 will find and automatically install the necessary drivers when you plug your game controller into your computer.

  (a) connect the joystick to the USB port via the adapter.

  (b) see if it is detected.

  (c) Windows should recognize the new hardware and set in place to work properly.

  If this isn't the case, install the relevant drivers for gamepad for the manufacturers Web site.

  Step 3:

  I suggest the following steps and check for the device.

  1. in Control Panel, open game controllers. To do this, use one of the following methods:

  a. click Start, typejoy.cpl in the Search box and press ENTER.

  2. click on your game controller, and then click Properties.

  3. on the Test tab, test the game controller to verify functionality.

• Difference in size between Simulator .bar vs device-release .bar

  So, finally, I created my first app and I have a lot of trouble hell ship. so, here are the steps to generate the file bar. (using qnx momentics 2.0)

  1) click Project, and then export to another directory

  (2) import these files into a new workspace.

  (3) right click on the project and change the device-release build configuration

  (4) construction project

  (5) use bar - descriptor.xml for the Release version of export

  (6) create a folder as packer BAR and it has the bar of the file with arm / o.le - v7 (not sure what that means?). the file size is about 470 K.

  But if I do the same step and instead use Simulator-debug, the file size is about 1.6 M.

  When I click on the bar of file for the two build configurations, he settled on the Simulator (didn't have not a device to test, so using the Simulator to test the bar device-release file). Interestingly, file bar Simulator works fine, but the bar device-release file locks up.

  is this expected behavior, or am I missing something here?

  It is expected that the bar version file is much smaller than the debug bar file.  The debug version contains a bunch of extra stuff for debugging.

  A generation of device (debug or release) will not work in the Simulator as the Simulator requires an x 86 version and the real peripheral ARM version of the binaries.

  I don't know why you should export your project and import again to do a release build.  What happens when you try on your original project?

  I had a peek at the webcast which gives the Setup instructions for the BlackBerry PlayBook SDk and Simulator. I completed all the steps - installed the SDK, Simulator, VMWare Player. I'm having a problem in the last step during the installation of the Simulator, that is, I get a WinZip file and not an ISO file (which says that the presentation). On decompression, I get a bunch of folders and files, but no ISO file.

  I've seen sometimes, if you have winRAR or something similar it open ISO files as if they were archive type files because and ISO is essentially a container for files and folders. Are you able to see extensions such as. ISO on your computer?

  Try this download of the file from the blackberry site and unzip the latter ONCE. After this let the file that it just decompressed as it is to instead open it again unzip again and the VMWare Player allows access to this file and see what happens.

• Redirect to URL processing conditional step problems

  So I'll try to set up a redirect to the URL processing step that will redirect only some single select drop-down values.

  Example of menu drop-down

  Apples

  Grapes

  Oranges

  Grapefruit

  Bananas

  Plums

  In the "redirect to the URL" I have it being directed toward my URL, then in "this treatment step is executed" only if they following the condition are met:

  Value of result is = apples or grapes

  But, this doesn't seem to work. I can make it work with fair say apples, but really, I don't want to create several processing steps in each form that I have to do.

  I think it should be something with Boolean and wildcard characters, but can't seem to find the combination. Has anyone ever used this?

  Hi John,.

  You can actually use a choice list for all fly out of a field. So if you take your example of fruit, you would create a list choose where your fruits would be your option names, then the URL you want that each fruit to redirect to would be the value of your Option.

  Then, on your processing step, choose 'Form field' for the Source Type, select the field in your form that contains the drop to the bottom of the fruit, then check the 'Search' box and choose the list you created:

  

  This will allow you to store all your possible values on the menu drop-down with what URL they want. Make sure that the URL in your list of selection have been completed (including the "http://www").

  By setting the time step to Thred One Only you tell others taken to just run the code once (i.e., as if the time step did not exist for other loops).  So why they go out the closure on the first iteration and imperatively which was the "thread" will end out of the loop.

  I think I'm a little confused on exactly what you want the code to do.  I think you all in loops to execute for all discussions, if you want that all sockets to loop.  There isn't a way around that.  Why don't you have of the step to execute for each thread?

  1. I have a Type of custom data called ConfigurePokaYoke.

  

  2. I have a step Type called Step_PokaYoke (this is a custom calling sequence step). This has a previous custom My Data Type field.

  

  3. when I insert a step of this kind in my sequence, I am able to open a window to change its variables of step (step configuration). I pass these variables as parameters in the call sequence load the other .seq file.

  

  

  4. I know that if I want to put this step to execute in a new thread, I need to:

  Right-click in my step, select specify Module, then the Module tab, and then click the execution Options list select on using New Thread.

  In my configuration window, I put my race in the new Thread switch in NONE, so my variable iRunInNewThread of step is 0, so my approach may NOT use a new threat.

  

  Example 2:

  In my configuration window, I put my race in the new Thread switch in YES, so is my variable iRunInNewThread of step 1, so my step USE a new threat.

  Report generation sequence file, as reportgen_txt.seq comes with TestStand, a step called "add an account no. In my understanding, this is the model, as sequential model.seq, but I always saw him again.

  I was interpreting this parameter in the report would say a test had altogether, how many steps because my tests may take a different number of steps. Is my assumption correct that this setting would say total number of steps performed, including all the step is executed for example in a while loop?

  Your understanding is good. ' Add an account of not ' AddReportHeader sequence step adds the total number of steps performed in test runs.

  This parameter in the report will be 0 if you have disabled 'Understand the results of Step' in the dialog box for the corresponding report plugin Report Options.

  I'm looking for a callback function run the initialization routines not taking into account execution using model or no model.  The callback function that I finally choose is "SequenceFilePreInteractive", and it seems to work like I wanted.  However, I do not understand what is meant by "PreInteractive"?

  Hello

  This callback allows you to perform a task (for example, hardware, initializing), before the selected steps are executed. It is known only in Interactive Mode.

  It is not used in normal running ie Run Single Pass, TestUUT or sequence to run, but it is used when highlight you some steps and use run or run Using Single Pass or TestUUT.

  Like wise there is a SequenceFilePostInteractive that allows you to perform tasks at the end of the Interactive run.

  I can manage to run an exe file using the executable called stage, but when it comes to DOS commands, could not.

  I have tried to create a nest of infinite loop For TestStand and stuggling to find a way to do a little.

  If you see the attached screenshot, the program runs to each index of the table, for loop 1. There is another loop For loop 2, with the Start/Stop/not inside the loop For For 1. Execution stage element is the index of loop nest, for example, Array Index 2 will start at 5, go to index 1 and run the loop (from 0 to 10 in step 2 and here at every step, he goes back to the Index 0 and run the table. When finished will return to index 1 index 0, and go well the loop. The same systematic for the Index 2 at each stage will be index 0 or everything he has the value).

  In LabVIEW, I can just set it to re-entry VI and feed in the index of the step to execute, but how can I do this in TestStand?

  You must use "by value" settings of your variables. To create these settings, insert variables in the setting of the display of the variables group. By default, they are "pass by reference", to change them to be passed by value, right-click on the variable parameter and uncheck the option menu "pass by reference". The variables that are passed by value are passed as in the copies of the original, everything changes for them in the order does NOT affect the original versions in the calling sequence. However, if you want to be able to pass data in the sequence they you need to at least some of your settings to "pass by reference" so that changes made to the parameter in the subsequence may be returned to the calling sequence.
