  Usually, a bad end cable will not cause you have. It could be one of the items you listed, but could also be the encoder being dirty in this place.   When the printer prints, you will see a small printer icon to the taskbar (lower-right). Click it and you'll see the files that are printing. If you view the document, please remove it from the print queue.
