Here's a suggestion on how to do a 'clean ': install
[quote]
For testing purposes, it is best to install Windows "clean".
It is, basically, install the way that Microsoft intended (with the drivers from Windows Update).
This procedure is for Windows 7, Vista is similar (but has 2 service packs)You will need your installation/recovery DVD (s) before you start. Once you wipe the hard drive, there is no going back!
1 back up all your data.
It will wipe everything off of your hard drive, so what you want to keep should be backed up elsewhere.NOTE: If this is due to an infection, remember to analyze the data with current antivirus to another system to locate and remove malware.
2. connect the system to the internet (if the system shows then disconnect from the Internet, do).
3. use one of these free utilities to wipe the hard drive:
DBAN ( http://www.dban.org/download )
KillDisk ( http://www.killdisk.com/downloadfree.htm ).
This will also remove the system recovery partitions - so the installation/restore DVD is essential!4 install Windows by booting from the installation/recovery DVD - DO NOT change any settings!
5 visit Windows Update and get all updates
6. check device for all unknown/disabled devices Manager - if there are unknown disabled devices, secure them with the latest drivers from the website of the manufacturer of the device (not the PC manufacturer)
7 visit Windows Update and download the Service Pack 1 (normally under important updates). Read these notes for installing SP1: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2505743
8 visit Windows Update and get any other available updates
9 download, install and update a free antivirus, so it does not get infected during the test ( http://www.carrona.org/freeav.html ).
If problems persist, then the problem is probably with your hardware.
Warning: If you have an Asus motherboard, check the date on the file C:\Windows\System32\driver\ASACPI.sys. 2004/2005 is a problem, 2009,2010 is OK. Updates are available on the Web from Asus site.
Warning: If you have a Sony system, make sure that you do NOT have the 2007 version (or earlier) Extension of Firmware of Sony Analyzer (SFEP.sys). To update this driver immediately!

original title: how fix/stop blue screen of death with the BBCode: 1000008e?
My laptop started throwing up blue screens of death at random, usually after a minute or so, I have not installed new hardware or software recently, but I accidentally download a virus of frostwire (I know, dumb huh?), that's the problem (at least I think in any case) as what all started after I downloaded it. My laptop has started to go very slowly as take 5 minutes to initialize and my software norton anti-virus has not picked up something on the scan, but since the analysis, he took and destroyed two files I think that they were named hki292.exe or something like that. The blue screen is still but that occur. That's what he says about the error in safe mode, at the beginning it says ECCode has but now its changed to 1000008e.

Number of the stop, blue screen
my computer does not restart. It's a windows xp just continues to display on a blue screen. It is said that a problem has been detected and windows has been arrested in order to prevent the damage., but does not restart. There are a number of the stop, but no error number. the number of stop is 0xoooooo7e (0xc0000005, 0xf924530c0, 0xf96e152c, 0xf96e1228). can someone help, I can't do anything at all. Thank you.
If you have not recently changed hardware or drivers, this Stop error indicates generally bad RAM (memory). I like Memtest86 + www.memtest.org . Of course, you must obtain the program from a working machine. You will download the .iso image file to create a bootable cd. You will need a third-party burning software such as free ImgBurn , Nero or Roxio. Burn as an image, not in the form of data. Then start with the media that you did (you may need to change the boot priority in your BIOS so that the optical drive is the first boot device). The test runs immediately. The test run for an hour or two--at least that errors are seen immediately. If you get any errors, replace the RAM.
On tests of hardware failures often alleged swapping parts by parts checked. If you can not do the test yourself and/or are uncomfortable opening your computer, take the machine to a professional computer repair shop (not your local equivalent of BigComputerStore/GeekSquad). Boot Manager is missing and the Messages from Stop blue screen.
Hi Henry here, I lost my Windows Vista disk and I reformatted my hard drive to use my Windows XP. So I ordered a recovery Windows Vista Home Premium SP1 of HP Distribution Center System. When I try to install the recovery system. I get messages from stop and disk boot manager is missing. I have to buy a disc of Windows Vista all over again? or what I can do to fix this? Henry
How to get Vista recovery Media or the Vista recovery Partition on your computer back to factory settings.
There is no Vista free download legal available.
Contact your computer manufacturer and ask them to send a recovery disk/s Vista set.
Normally, they do this for a cost of $ small.
In addition, ask them if you have a recovery Partition on your computer/laptop to restore it to factory settings.
See if a manual provided with the computer or go to the manufacturer's website, email or you can call for information on how to make a recovery.
Normally, you have to press F10 or F11 at startup to start the recovery process...
Another way I've seen on some models is press F8 and go to a list of startup options, and launch a recovery of standards of plant with it, by selecting the repair option.
Also ask them if it is possible to do the recovery disk/s for the recovery Partition in case of a system Crash or hard drive failure.
They will tell you how to do this.
Every computer manufacturer has their own way of making recovery disk/s.
Or borrow a good Microsoft Vista DVD (not Dell, HP, etc).
A good Vista DVD contains all versions of Vista.
The product key determines which version of Vista is installed. There are 2 disks of Vista: one for 32-bit operating system, and one for 64-bit operating system.
If install a cleaning is required with a good DVD of Vista (not HP, Dell recovery disks):
Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.
At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu

try to run dell diagnostics by pressing F12 at startup
If you experience a problem with your computer, perform the checks in "Finding of Solutions" and run the Dell Diagnostics before you contact Dell for technical assistance. Run Dell Diagnostics may help you solve the problem without having to contact Dell. If you contact Dell, the test results can provide important information for the service of Dell and support staff.

I just finished a new construction, including Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit. Update all the drivers went through, and now I get BSOD. I am running WIndows XP Pro SP3 on a Dell Optiplex gx270s and get several error messages stop "Blue screen" intermittent and different at startup (for protect my computer). Prompt notification Windows found problems with the file system and run CHKDSK/F. I am unable to do so as I can not find my administrator password (also necessary if you plan to run from my XP installation disc). Windows Fix - It Center, running 'Folder & troubleshooting' reports icons randomly change the icons but no resolves not. I didn't notice the icons change and do not if this is related to Stop what error messages at startup, I've been doing. Running a disk check during start-up and Diagnostics IDE are not problems. It lasts for quite awhile and I've delayed just deal with it because it is not always the case. A lot of program installs / uninstalls and Microsoft Updates since its start if the system restore wouldn't do me any good. Before reinstalling the operating system, what are my options? Is there a way to reset my ' Administor password ", or better yet does not require one, (it is a personal computer for personal use only and I don't remember why a password has been assigned)?
