stop the warning to change the host name

I continue to be careful:

Your computer name is already in use on this network. the name has been changed...

I click ok and keeps coming back with many more and will not stop!

Thank you

This is the share name that is duplicated on another device on the network, or the name of VICTORIES under the Ethernet settings. Both are in system preferences.

Under network, click the network connection you are using (wired or wireless). Click the Advanced button, then the WINS tab change the NetBIOS name to something else. Click OK. If it is active, click on the button apply.

If that doesn't help, click on the share icon. Change the computer name to something else. This is necessary, or even do anything if at least one of the options of sharing is checked.

  • LaserJet P1505n printer: How can I change the host name to NPI1BDC68 to meaninful something more?

My network, a HP LaserJet P1505n printer, host name is set to NPI1BDC68. Is this cable or is there a way for me to change? Trying to solve: manuals were reviewed, Forum questions were searched, google General search conducted. I am running Win XP and a Mac Pro with OS X 10.6.8.

Well, which took me 10 minutes to solve.  I found the answer on a HP site based in France. (I kinda changed my google query and tried again.)  The site asks on first access, if you wish to continue in English, thankfully.  http://support.HP.com/us-en/document/c01175001

In short, use Internet Explorer or Safari, go to the IP address of your network printer.  For Win XP users, you can determine the IP address using, start/printers and faxes /(select printer)/properties/ports tab / select new/Configure button/second field printer port to down the IP address shown.

Once connected to the network printer subsystem, select the Networking tab.  The host name is the first field which can be changed. Enter a new name from 1 to 15 characters.  Tip: He doesn't like spaces. Underscores work well and the new name can be mixed case. Press the button apply at the bottom of the screen when done.  Warning appears that access to the printer may need to be changed if the IP address has been changed.  Acknowledge the warning. Printer goes offline for a few seconds. The page automatically refreshes and the new host name can be confirmed by inspection.

    Hi everyone;

I'm changing the host name on our printer that is currently Imprimante1 that's not what I'm looking for (I have no idea how it was change or not at all).

I tried to access the printer via IP in a browser (tried Chrome, IE and Edge) still occur. I see the host name to the title of the network, however, I am not able to change it.

I also thought I might be able to install the software and use the Toolbox, except that during the installation, the Toolbox links are created in the start menu, but it is never installed (confirmed uninstall reinstall twice)

    So yes, here it is...

Anyone have any ideas on the issue?

    See you soon,.

Do not know your printer exactly, but on most of these when you go to the web page, you must go to networking and you will need to go in which change you the method of how it gets ip address or an ip.  On this screen will be the ability to set the IP in a manual address and the area that contains the host name you should be able to click on it and change the name.

First line (vim - cmd hostsvc/net/dns_info) would get only the host name, while the second line would be the main task of chaning the host name.

Once you run the second line, just select another item in the client vSphere (such as data store) and then check back the "and DNS routing, so it'll be Refresh display data (for me, it automatically displays the changes).

If you still get the same result and the host name has not changed, could check if you can change it via DCUI?

On the summary of the machine tab, you can see a host name, below the status line. Is there a way to change the host name, because now it reads something is no longer connected to the ESXi server.

    I'm under ESXi 4 Update 1.

Unfortunately there is not. You do not have access to the physical console?

    Concerning

    MAhesh

    Mahesh,

The client connects to the base on the HostAddress profile field.

Host name, is what is used to populate the drop-down list and identifies the connection in "plain language." Although it is often the COMPLETE domain name, it doesn't have to be.

When a user makes the connection, one of the things that happens is that any changes in profile on the ASA is pushed to the locally stored user profile.
