A thunderstorm? Certainly it damaged your equipment. You are
lucky the rest of the computer works.
How do you connect to the internet? Dial-up? Cable? DSL? Something
on the other? The modem was probably fried and needs to be replaced.
In the future, when there is a thunderstorm in your neighborhood.
You must disconnect all computers and devices. And unplug
the modem all that it is connected to.

A freezing Storm blackBerry smartphones... help!
I'm a convert of Treo in the world of BlackBerry and I thought that the storm is the way to do it. In any case, after getting the telephone, connected to my corporate email server and downloading some apps, I run on the problem where scrolling and tapping are just frustrating me no end! For example, when you try to scroll through applications, it just freezes on me and won't do anything. I can press 'End' and it brings back me to my home screen. Then, I tried to get into the phone to call Verizon to see if I could get help. hen tapping/press the 'Contacts' icon, nothing happens. OK, press harder. Still nada! OK, so I'll just type the number manually. I press the 1 and 5 rises. I press the 1 and 5 another appears. I try to change where I am pressing on in the hope that I can get a 1 appears on the screen. Nothing! I had 3 seconds to throw this thing out the window. I know that the BlackBerry is far superior than the Palm Treo but I want to tell you, I was contemplating going back to Palm. I don't want to give up and hope that there is someone out there who can help out me. Thank you!!
Tim
OK things more to check...
How did you leave apps when you're done? If it's with the back or on the red button, then the app is unable to close properly. Always use the BBKey and "Close" or "Exit" to exit the application when you are finished. Only if you have a reason to keep it running, you must use another method to exit an application. If left to themselves, many apps will remain running, and just like a PC, more you ask him to do at the same time, him more bogged down it will receive.
Something to watch - free memory of the App. Options > memory, check the free AppMemory immediately after a restart of batt-pop. Then watch an it... If he's dropping like a stone, then something is running for consumption.
You can always check what apps are underway into the BBKey - he will always phone, home screen, BBMessenger, Messages and browser running... everything else is an application that has not closed. Be very frugal with allowing applications to stay running.
You can also search the QuickPull... a version is free on the AppWorld. According to a schedule, it will be a reboot which is almost as good as a proper reboot batt-sweater. I have mine work every night at 1130 hours... longer, with the paid version (which I have), it will monitor the memory of the app and ask me if I want to restart when it reaches a set threshold.
The thing we want to avoid is an OS reload... who is the most radical, and we need to reduce the other elements of first possible causation (IMHO).
Give these things a try and report.
See you soon!

browser can not connect to the internet-help!
Running A Dell 3000 desktop with XP. After a reasonably stable relationship, my browser does not open an internet connection. I tried IE and Firefox, neither of which work. When I try to open the browser, I get "connection to the 207.46.250.101 site." and then the browser tells me that it cannot open the web page. Operation of the fine to send and receive Outlook e-mail.
The connection is through Motorola modem and router D-Link. My office is connected to the router which is connected to the modem. Other home computers (wired and wireless) continue to work well on the same modem-router, set up. Comcast tech support was not able to help. We went through recycling, ipconfig, ping, etc. I bypassed the router by attempting a direct connection to the modem - same result. It seems that the router and modem are in order and the problem seems to be with the office or the software.
I tried to restore the system to an earlier time when the problem started, which did not help. I have no restore points more early to get to the system restore.
I got the following message with attemtps have failed to get on the internet: "Windows cannot connect to the internet using HTTP, HTTPS or FTP. This is probably caused by the settings of firewall on this computer. Check the settings of the firewall for the HTTP port (80), HTTPS port (431) and FTP port (21). »
I have disabled the Windows Firewall.
Previously, I used zone alarm and uninstalled it, although it seems always on the list Add/Remove programs in Control Panel. Nothing opens when I double click to open the program. When I try to remove zonealarm, I get the following message: TrueVector Internet monitor has not been uninstalled. Uninstall wasn't able to stop the True Vector software services, this will happen if other software uses the true vector engine. to uninstall zonealarm mare that all other true vector programs have been closed. "I don't know what another program uses TrueVector, or if it has nothing to do with the problem.
Sorry to be verbose, but it took a lot of time and I wanted to give as much information as possible about the problem.
any suggestions? Thank you!

Hi Mark,
For me and a lot of others, the idea of having to be connected to internet to be able to effectively use the Creative Suite is repellent.
Community aid is one of the problems.
I can put it to use local help, BUT when I go to the for use first it tries to access the internet and must expire before local help becomes available. What makes 'aid' VERY SLOW and boring. I've been complaining about this for years, but not here Just you found.
It would be wonderful if the entire suite was a preference "I am not connected to the internet", but since I don't seem to make much progress on it after 3 generations of work with the development team.
Perhaps Community aid could have such a choice, so we didn't have to wait for the time-out.
Thank you
Scott
Hi Scott: I would recommend copying the contents of your entire CHC directory:
- Mac OS X: USER NAME (home) > library > Preferences > chc.4875E02D9FB21EE389F73B8D1702B320485DF8CE.1
- Note: the downloaded help files are a click down to the Local store > help > en_US; However, the copy of the entire Local store will ensure that all your configuration files, preferences, etc. are migrated correctly as well.
Once this is done, you can reinstall it on a second machine to either copy the application of AIR above your existing Applications (located in the Adobe folder) directory. Or you can download it here: http://www.adobe.com/support/chc - the application AIR itself is less than 5MBs.
To each of you out there the Windows folks, here is the equivalent path:
- Windows: %appdata%/chc.4875E02D9FB21EE389F73B8D1702B320485DF8CE.1
(copy and paste the sentence above in Windows Explorer File Manager)

I modzilla firefox and internet explorer, but I prefer to use modzilla firefox. can I both to connect?
I also need to install windows xp service pack 2 and 3 but my computer doesn't have enough ram so I'm
attempt to remove unnessasary programs I have. can someone help me remove these programs or tell me which ones I need
so my pc will work properly?
(but helped me free of charge)?
Hi Jennymc01,
RAM and hard drive are two different things. As I understand from your post you don't have enough space on the hard drive. To make more space on the computer, you can try to delete the temporary files, temporary internet cache, compress old files, swith off hibernation and limit the size of pagefile.
Click my computer-> right-> properties-> disk cleanup Local disk.
You will have the option of deleting the temporary files, tickmark where it says, compress old files, click ok. It may take a few minutes to compress the files (you will notice little drop color file from black to blue, but this is indication of compressed files).
Now click on start-> settings-> Options Internet-> delete browser history-> Ok.
Click Start-> run, type &-> % temp %-> ok. Select all files and delete - this is all temporary files, you will not be able to delete some files, but ignore those and delete the rest.
Now, if you have enabled on your system from hibernation disable-> click Start-> settings-> Control Panel-> Power-> Hibernation-> remove tickmark-> ok.
Find the swap file must be set to managed windows-> click Start-> settings-> Control Panel-> system-> advanced-> virtual memory-> change-->-Advanced Online Performance-> select your drive-> select "System Managed size"-> click define -> Ok.
Restart your pc and check free space.
If you do not plan to uninstall all installed service pack files, you can delete many files - open my computer-> tools-> folder options-> view-> uncheck "Hide protected files System"-> Yes-> select 'show hidden files and folders'-> ok.
Let's go to C:\windows. You can delete all files named $NtUninstallKB $ (number) .
I hope this helps.

Get "Internet Explorer cannot display this page" since Saturday afternoon. I went through the usual steps of my router off anf then turn on. Did not help at all. Finally contacted my ISP (Verizon) who told me that the problem was with Microsoft and a recent update, they did. It seems that they got anumber of customer calls. The upgrade fails to recognize my IP address... I was told to contact Microsoft to see if they could come back to me in time before the upgrade to see if it could restore the internet connection. I am at a total loss, as I'm not that Tech savvy when it comes to such things. What can I do?
Hello
It is not Microsoft.
These are public Forums set up by Microsoft on their servers and animated by them.
We are mainly Windows users help each other here.
@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@
Microsoft gives sometimes you updates for the 3rd party hardware: graphics, network cards, etc.
You should only get the latest drivers for them to real hardware manufacturer's website, as Microsoft normally does nor those have the most recent drivers available as Microsoft relies of the 3rd party hardware Manufactuer to provide.
But unfortunately, the only way to know which is the update of the problem is to install them one by one, until you find the 'wrong' for your installation.
You can do a system restore to get back until it has been installed (which is NOT the best way to remove an update) or follow this method:
'Remove an update'
http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/remove-an-update
When you have found the issue of update of the list of updates which is presented > then right click on the update problem > select Hide update > and it will not be available to you once again
"How to hide or show an update of Windows Vista"
http://www.Vistax64.com/tutorials/72491-Windows-Update.html
Here's how to chanage update settings, if you think it is necessary to:
"Understanding Windows Update and Extras in Windows Vista and Windows 7.
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/Windows-Vista-updates-and-extras/
Or the other of these two update settings will give you the chance to see what you want to install through Windows updates;
Download updates but let me choose whether to install them - if you select this option, Windows will download the updates on your computer, but not install them automatically. If you want to install updates, then you must install them manually. You should only select this option if you have a reason to not install updates automatically. Only advanced users should use this option.
Check for updates but let me choose whether to download and install them - if you select this option, you'll be alerted when there are new updates available for download and install. You can then choose to download and install the updates that you want. This option should really be reserved for people who know exactly which updates they need, or those who have little access to the Internet.
But remember you normally only have problems with hardware 3rd party drivers. Other updates are to improve the Performance and security of your system
See you soon.

Am able to still navigate, browse and navigate using the icons in start, all programs section. Hello
It's your drive D: Recovery being almost full messages.
Your recovery Partition was photographed on your hard drive during the production of your computer by the manufacturer for all of these reasons.
1. to reinstall Vista from in the case of a failure of the system, based on individuals or the keys at startup.
F10 or Alt + F10 or F11 are a couple of different manufacturers use sequences.
You will need to ask your manufacturer for proper sequence.
2. to make the recovery disks on if your drive hard breaks down, so that you can then reinstall the operating system on a new hard drive.
Also ask them how to make records.
Your D: Recovery Drive is should not be used for backups, defragmented, etc..
There are backups on an external hard drive.
To resolve the problems that have arisen with the recovery D: Partition, you will need to contact the manufacturer of your computer to remove all that has been added to it.
