strengthen the memory of oracle database

Hi guys,.

How do you know if we need to strengthen the memory of oracle database?

I know, instance efficieny hit % is not an exact value to look at as low % does not mean that the server is running out of memory. This may mean that some of the sql made many complete analysis leading to low % of success.

It is advisory to watch SGA Advisory target / PGA Advisory target?

Read how physical improvement is considered a lot where we can consider adding memory to the sga?

kindly share your knowledge about what you guys are looking for normally to beef up.

Thank you

It is advisory to watch SGA Advisory target / PGA Advisory target?

Years: Yes.

In addition, you can check the ADDM report for your high-end database load time. In ADDM, you can get advice to increase the SGA.

But, if your end user is satisfied with the performance of the database then it is useless to increase SGA/PGA.

    It is a symptom of textbooks classic does not have read and followed the original instructions to prepare the downloaded files.  You should have two files zip files.  They both must be decompressed in the same directory.  If you unzip using Windows graphic interface - in right click on the name of the file and selecting "extract all...". "the default behavior will be to create a directory, the same name as the zip file and extract in it.  Thus, file_1_of_2 pulls in directory_1_of_2 and file_2_of_2 extracted in directory_2_of_2.  You must override this stupid behavior by default and specify the directory yourself.  And specify the SAME directory for both files.

    Or just go to a command prompt, change directories to the directory where the two zip files are located and deliver "unzip " and "unzip ", and they will both be properly unpack to a directory named "database".

  • Options of the Web server for the Installation of the APEX on Oracle Database 10g

    Hello. We are installing an APEX on a test server that runs the Oracle 10 g 10.2.0.4.0 database. As I understand it there are two Web Server Options:

    (1) oracle HTTP Server (Apache)
    (2) oracle Application Express listener

    Do both of these jobs for Oracle Database 10 g 10.2.0.4.0? I thought I remember reading somewhere that only the Oracle Application Express listener only works with version 11 database or higher.

    Do both of these jobs for Oracle Database 10 g 10.2.0.4.0?

    Yes.

    I thought I remember reading somewhere that only the Oracle Application Express listener only works with version 11 database or higher.

    No, only the restriction (except 10 g XE) applies to the third option of web server that you have not mentioned: Embedded PL/SQL Gateway (EPG), such as discussed in your previous thread: + {: identifier of the thread = 2201975} +.

  • How do the function of Oracle database in OBIEE Administration tool

    Hi all
    I want to use an Oracle database function as a column in OBIEE (BM, presentation model). Can someone made this inOBIEE. Pointers to this is much appreicated.

    Thank you

    Hi user7417334,

    You cannot use the formulas in the presentation layer (not that I know well). But you can certainly use functions of oracle database in MDB layer.

    You want to use the function EVALUATE. It works like this:

    can EVALUATE (' TO_DATE (%1, %2) "AS DATE, 31 December 2009", "MM/DD/YYYY" ")

    Generic version: EVALUATE ('' AS , value1, value2, etc.)

    FUNC) is the syntax for the function you are calling. All parameters must be replaced with %, where number refers to the order in which you specify your settings.
    DATATYPE) the type of data that will allow to evaluate the function. In this case, the DATE.
    Value1) the last part of the formula is a list separated by commas of all parameters used in the function. In this case, this is the date I want to ride
    Value2) is the second parameter. You need as many times as you have referenced in your function. In this case, it is the date format.

    Good luck and if you found this post useful, please give points!

    Best regards

  • SGA, PGA is greater than the memory and oracle does not work

    Hello

    Wrongly, I put the following:

    ALTER system SET sga_max_size = 1500M scope = spfile;

    ALTER system SET SGA_TARGET = 1400M scope = spfile;

    ALTER SYSTEM SET PGA_AGGREGATE_TARGET = 9000M scope = spfile;

    My total memory is 16 GB, Win8

    When I rebooted the oracle, he could not start and I m sure 100% that these sizes of memory are the problem.

    Now, I can not connect to the DB set these sizes of memory.

    How can I change the SGA, PGA, while the entire oracle is down? It is not only the DB instance that is nt working. It s the entire oracle.

    Is it possible to change the spfile from a text editor?

    I d appreciate your quick responses.

    Kind regards

    Vidar, great recommendation.  There are cases where the spfile directly change can cause problems. If you happen who meet and the spfile is not usable, you can also create a new pfile of content in the journal of the alerts, start the instance by using the new file pfile, then make a copy of the pfile to the spfile.  Here are the basic steps if the spfile is corrupted and you need to create a new:

    (1) find the alerts log, copy the lines below the comment "parameters of the system with default values:" in a new file calledinit .ora and save the file in the directory by default (dbs or database) file.

    (2) make sure that the bad spfile is not in the directory of the file/start setting and start the Oracle service & the instance should now be available.  If you are not able to connect as "/" try to use sys / as sysdba

    (3) create a copy of the spfileinit .ora file: sql > create spfile from pfile;     -You can specify the directories, or leave the default value.

    (4) return & validate the parameters according to the directives of our discussion earlier.

    Hussien, I hope this helps.

  • How to strengthen the basis of oracle data that is installed by default configuration

    Hello DBAs,

    A recent hearing in our database by the world famous firm oracle administration gave us their evaluation report, which also includes a clear guide to harden our server and the database. I got very frustrated by their report because he had only 5 lines of conclusion which should be corrected so that my expectation was higher that this number because I gave them access to one of our databases was in its default installation mode. So, I can't assume the database secure after these made corrective activities. So, please could you me what would be the minimum that must be in place for safety. Therefore, I would like to know all the post of tasks of installation if someone already has.

    Thank you for your support.

    The Security Guide database for your version of Oracle will have a chapter on maintenance of your Oracle Secure database which is a good starting point.  In reality, however, much will depend on the specific requests that a specific database is running and the requirements of your organization and these applications.  If you run a system or application of health care, for example, in some other highly regulated industry, it is likely that additional steps will have to be taken beyond the generic suggestions the Security Guide - configuring encryption transparent to data or Data Vault or data, encryption of communication via the network masking or activation of the audit to end grain or any number of other technologies allowing Oracle.

    I guess that your listener.ora always has a section of SID and you did not copy paste... Then please post the entire file

    Please open a command line window and do:
    C:\oracle\ora9I\bin\hsodbc
    After all output including the call.

    Published by: kgronau on March 6, 2012 18:31
    When the listener above is still correct, the cause would be that you have 2 SID with the same name in your listener.ora:
    SID_LIST_ODBC1 =
    (SID_LIST =
    (SID_DESC =
    (SID_NAME = ODBC1)
    (ORACLE_HOME = C:\oracle\ora9I)
    (PROGRAM = hsodbc)
    )
    (SID_DESC =
    (GLOBAL_DBNAME = ODBC1)
    (ORACLE_HOME = C:\oracle\ora9I)
    (SID_NAME = ODBC1)
    )
    )

    Please change to:
    SID_LIST_ODBC1 =
    (SID_LIST =
    (SID_DESC =
    (SID_NAME = ODBC1)
    (ORACLE_HOME = C:\oracle\ora9I)
    (PROGRAM = hsodbc)
    )
    )

    Once you change the listener, please stop and start the listener called odbc1: odbc1 stop lsnrctl and lsnrctl start odbc1
