Style InDesign Grep question

Hello

I have a question about Indesign. I want to make the text a certain character as a space of hair for example "BOLD". This must be addressed in a paragraph style. I think that this can be done with GREP styles. I've tried several things, but it is not supposed me... Anyone know if this is possible or is there a better way to do?

Thank you!

Apply style to "bold" to the text:

(?<>

    Hallo zusammen,

Passiert aber nichts - see Screenshot.

In meinen Texteditoren works dieser regulare Lutherischen aber in jedem fall. ICH mache was GREP please?

In InDesign GREP, you find something here to change it.

    trying to find ^.

    Replace by bla $ 0

This will search the first character to your paragraph and replace it with blah , followed the found character. The net result is that blah is added to the front of the paragraph, and the found character remains.

  • How to create an InDesign Grep Expression of specific words

I have a long list of wishes of congratulations following a certain rhythm. How can I create a style of grep with the following sequence:

    Congratulations to [name] for...

    • The first two words of the paragraph are always: congratulations to
    • Followed by: name
    • Followed by: to... (then continue with the rest of the info)

There is a style of general paragraph to paragraph, which we will call this 'body '. A character style, let's call 'fat', should be applied to the first word, then spread the word "to", apply the character 'fat' new style name (however that may be long) and stop at the word 'on '. Remember that the word "to" is mentioned again later on, so I would not use an expression with the words 'to', unless that can be specified only in the first instance.

I am new to GREP, but have found so far that what follows will give me the style applied to the first word characters: ^ congratulations

Thank you in advance to those who can help me here.

In your GREP style in the paragraph style

    (?<=Congratulations to).+?(?="">

  • How can I add a style "BOLD" grep on the first occurrence of a Word?

    Hi all

I need help on adding a style "BOLD" grep on the first occurrence of a Word.

I can add the "BOLD" to the word, but it adds to all occurrences, see below:

    GREP style (Incorrect)

    Apply Style: "BOLD"

    Text: \ < Lorem Ipsum\ >

Nam Lorem Ipsum semper pellentesque tincidunt. UT nisi sit amet arcu nulla tristique dictum. SED commodo total non mauris cursus pretium. Lorem Ipsum Aliquam erat volutpat. Morbi id pretium justo. Nam lorem quis facilisis molestie risus fermentum. Vestibule ut sem elit. Nunc eget neque Sed elementum augue EU outbound.

I need only the "BOLD" to add to the first occurrence of the word, as below:

Nam Lorem Ipsum semper pellentesque tincidunt. UT nisi sit amet arcu nulla tristique dictum. SED commodo total non mauris cursus pretium. Lorem Ipsum Aliquam erat volutpat. Morbi id pretium justo. Nam lorem quis facilisis molestie risus fermentum. Vestibule ut sem elit. Nunc eget neque Sed elementum augue EU outbound.

Thanks in advance for the help!

This should do it for you

    Apply style

    "BOLD"

    text (? i) ^(.+?) Lorem Ipsum

    apply the stye

    Book

    text: ^. * ? (? = Lorem Ipsum)

The first expression search all the text from the beginning of the parapgrah through the Lorem Ipsum

The other defines the rest of the text before the Lorem Ipsum to the base style (book, novel, or whatever your basic style)

  • Nested style Nested Grep for the last 2 words

    Hi all

I'm under InDesign CS6 on Mac.

I am trying to create a style for a header so that two last words of position have a designated character style (i.e. position is written in light character and last two words of it are in bold). So that I can return the nested style, and by adding the command end nested Style here to each topic, I prefer something more automatic. The only similar to that post was dated 2008 and it was for CS3. Not to mention it was a script. Not a lot of help.

    Thank you for your time.

Can't wait to hear a solution on your part.

    Sincerely yours.

    Sebastian

The last two words in a paragraph matches the grep expression:

    (\S+)\s(\S+)$

    \s whitespace

\S a space that is not

    $ end of paragraph

in other words, a series of spaces that are not followed by a space followed by a string of nowheres at end of paragraph.

  • PDF-6 InDesign interactive questions

I have a few questions making an interactive pdf in 6 - my client wants the following (witch I can't be able to figure out how do it, or even if it is possible):

-J' have some difficulties to do spesial characters in the final pdf (ÆØÅ - I m Norwegian)-how do these letters work?

-Can do you somehow the date section so that it comes out automatically the right to 'date' - way when people type here?

-Can you do the same thing with the numbers: fields, representing a sum of money?

-Can you add the numbers in two or more fields automatically together, making an AutoSum? In this case the price of carparts and adding a 25% tax and who gives the final amount that all together (Excel-style)

    I m using MacBook Pro 10.7.5, InDesign CS6.

    Thank you for your comments...

Make sure that you update InDesign CS6 to 8.0.1. That can solve the problem with Norwegian characters.

Other things compared to the forms will have to be edited in Acrobat Pro. Implementation of the calculations and date formats can be done in Acrobat, not in InDesign.

  • GREP question: How do \r and \z play at the same time?

    InDesign CS5

I have a couple of styles GREP designed to allow development of large portions of the text much easier. In order to reduce the time back on and force things back, I created an unbreakable character style to be applied to the words at the end of a paragraph and after punctuation. To get rid of the massive gaps at the end of the lines, I have limited the number of characters in words and whenenver, some still get through, I apply a character style "Delete everything" separate. This makes it easier for our web service during the file conversion, the lack of forced returns and the addition of seamless formatting instead.

So far, I have 3 GREP queries to apply:

    -\s\ < \w{1,7}\ > < \w{1,8}\ > [.!,:;] »] \r

    -\s\ < \w{1,7}\ > < \w{1,8}\ > [.!,:;] »] \z

    (? < =[.!?;:,"]\s)\ < \w{1,7}\ > \s\ < \w{1,7}\ >)

The reason for the 3 is the end of the paragraph (\r) query does not apply at the end of a story (\z). I tried to combine the two using ' | ' between queries but it just ends up by doesn't work do not at all. Or with the ends as follows: (\r|\z)

Is it possible to get this consolidated to a better query, so I need to copy and paste the three whenever I want to apply it to a style? It would be easier when you give the query to people, too, if she were consolidated. All the 3 together would be ideal.

Thanks to anyone who can lend a hand.

    Use $ instead of \r or \Z

  • Nested styles or Grep?

    Hi all

    We have a section Q & A on a magazine.

    It's like that

Q: this is a question of "BOLD" pink?

A: He is a regular response in a new paragraph with A "BOLD" and two points, it has also 2mm of space after.

Q: this is a question of "BOLD" pink?

A: He is a regular response in a new paragraph with A "BOLD" and two points, it has also 2mm of space after.

How can we get this two apply all at once? Should we Grep or nested styles. Nested styles doesn't seem to be able to do all this. My Grep is very basic!

Any pointers in the right direction enjoyed.

That is waaay to overload it, I think.

Just two paragraph styles for every need set as the next for each other. The style of Q must have the color of the characters on the rose and weight, set to "BOLD", one called should have a style nested for "BOLD" up through two points 1 or 2 characters or something, and the color of the black characters and weight all you want.

  • Query style InDesign

Hello, I've been racking my brain trying to figure how the best way to recreate the first couple of words in yellow box in Indesign CS6 (see attachment). Whenever I have try this using the paragraph styles the yellow box suddenly finds himself at the bottom of the paragraph. I can easily create it with the yellow box on its own line, but when you have the box and the body of the text on the same line as a whole. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

This can be done with a underscore that must be saved as a character style to make it easy to apply. See this screenshot for some details, but you will need to play with the settings.

  • Find and replace grep Question.

I'll put up paragraph styles and I'm changing anything with < CR > in a ^ p. How do I do this with a string of grep? I am wanting to add this string grep grep style in the paragraph styles.

With GREP Styles you can not change the text, but the formatting of the text.
You will need an action of find/replace with the TEXT or GREP find/replace.

  • Yosemite & NEW installation of InDesign CS6 - questions?

I installed on my 2010 Yosemite MacBook Pro. My boss wants me to buy InDesign CS6 as a new installation. (I've never had any version of InDesign installed on my Mac). I prefer InDesign CC, but he's going for him.

I've seen a few questions where those who have already installed versions of InDesign CS6 have problems with it after the installation of Yosemite.

Given that mine would be a NEW installation of InDesign CS6 on a Mac of Yosemite, I wonder if there are any known issues.

I don't want to buy the software and then have problems.

(I'm not having problems with already installed versions of Photoshop CS6 and Dreamweaver CS6 and Yosemite).

The problems are happening with update installs Yosemite. If you did a clean installation, you should be fine. An upgrade? Anything other than a roll of the dice.

Download the trial version and give it a whirl.

BTW, you could explain to your boss that CS6 will cost $700. A subscription to InDesign will be $ 20 $par month.

  • InDesign CS6 questions!

Since we have obtained CS6 here at work, we had any other questions. This is not an upgrade, it is a clean install on a new iMac 10.8.5.

Today begins a new series of questions. InDesign crashes about 2 or 3 times just for fun, then this afternoon when I tried to export a PDF file, I noticed that there is some text missing on my screen. The text boxes were there, but no text was visible. I tried to click inside the text box and select - nothing! I thought that maybe it is just a thing seen so I exported the PDF in any case and the missing text in him also - Gone! I went back to the identity document, selected the text, open, closed box it up - nothing. Then all the sudded when I zoomed in or on a single click (that has happened both ways), as the magic, the text appeared. Now, I can see the text, but I can't select or edit text. One of my boxes of text, I had to redo everything. It is a major pain, see how I just spent the last hours 9 working on a product gatefold brochure 36 x 11 and now I can't change it, but just a part of the text. I checked and without layers are locked and there is nothing on master pages... I don't want to go back and retype all data... It is all the text, the text just random boxes. One of the boxes, the text is just went... There's nothing there.

I deleted the files of Version 8.0 of my cahses and my prefrences file folder but nothing works.

Does anyone else know this kind of questions?
