Successful HotSync but no information from Palm Desktop.

Wireless Hotsync "completed", but there is no information in my Palm Desktop, no contact, no notes, no tasks, etc., although this information is in the Palm Pilot. I have Windows 7, 64 bit computer laptop.  HotSync wireless worked well in the past.  Just started this problem a couple of days.  HotSync Manager version 7.0.2.  Palm Desktop version 6.2.2.  I have a backup file on my laptop but don't know how to restore the desktop.  Any suggestions?  Thanks, PNeely

I suggest you download an extractor free files like 7-zip or WinZip.

Maybe after installation, any registry that are problems will be straightened.

  • Export from Palm Desktop calendar to .dba archive

I have data for agenda 2003 to date on my Palm Desktop v6.2.  I would like to archive everything before 01/01/14 by exporting the data in an archive *.dba and then delete the data from Palm Desktop.  The export dialog says that I can choose to archive the items I selected, but does not say how to choose.  I want to select a range of dates - more precisely, 1/1/03-12/31/13.  Someone knows how to do this?

The Export of Palm Desktop feature, you cannot selectively archive a specific range of dates of the calendar events.  There is a function of the Purge, but he will serve only to items older than a month, not a selectable date.

One thing you could do, which requires a pocket computer, is to use an application of Pocket called Agenda 6 jointly with a freeware SD card backup utility called NVBackup for more security.  NVBackup lets you back up the entire database because there is at all times on the handheld and allows you to make backup sets so much data that your SD card will hold (max size 1 GB, regular SD card).  And agenda 6 allows you to delete data from calendar before the date.  Then...

    • Export your entire calendar on your desktop.  It would not be limited at all before 01/01/14, but it would preserve everything.
    • Buy and install DateBook 6 of www.pimlicosoftware.com (it is not freeware).
    • Download and install NVBackup.  Run NVBackup on the handheld to create a full backup on a SD card.
    • Then use Schedule 6 to remove the calendar data before 01/01/14.
    • Change the calendar (or calendar) led in Palm Desktop to handheld overrides Desktop.
    • HotSync the handheld to the desktop calendar data.  Palm Desktop calendar data should show then only events for 01/01/14 forwards, but historical data would have been preserved in the file exported as well as on the SD card and you can restore it at any time.

    I hope this helps.

  • 'Successful' HotSync, but no data

I recently bought a new laptop and am trying to get my data moved from the former.

New computer laptop OS is Windows 7 64 bit.

    The device is Palm m500.

I downloaded the version 6.2.2 to Palm Desktop software

I followed the instructions on another post on the 64-bit driver.

The installations were successful.  I tried to hotsync and the device connects and says it was successful.  He asked if I wanted to add a new user with my name and I said yes.  He added that, but when I'm looking for my contact information is not there.  Help!

    Thank you

    Janet

Your problem is the version of palm desktop, you used. PIM lines are different on new devices. You have a legacy device. Uninstall the 6.2.2 and download and install palm desktop 4.1.4. You will need to reinstall the driver 64 bit Aceeca after than the 4.1.4 palm desktop instillation.

  • HotSync pass (default) Outlook to Palm Desktop?

I just changed computers for Vista 32 bit.  Downloaded the new Palm pilot 6.4.  I copied the old data from my old computer to the new, and the office works very well (even if the font size is horribly tiny).  I have synced, and he said the synchronization was successful, but there is no synchronization.  I clicked on HotSync Manager, and it is said in the details it's sync to my Outlook calendar, calendar, etc.  I do not use Outlook - I use Palm Desktop.  When I go in the HotSync Manager Applications section, the list of Applications a. applications Outlook to synchronize with my camera (Z22)  How can I change this so that it syncs with my desktop?  I spent so much time trying to understand this.  Help!

    Thank you, Angie

On your PC, go to start--> programs--> Palm--> led PIM sync--> sync with Palm Desktop. Click ok and then finish.

  • How to copy the data from Palm Desktop on a PC running Windows 8.1

If like me you still find the Palm Desktop data (addresses, calendar, notes, etc.) handy and use it long after throwing the combined capacity and 'sync', you can see this is useful.  I bought a new PC running Windows 8.1 and had problems with data transfer due to a problem as I understand it, which does not exist in Windows XP, Vista or 7 versions.  Here is a summary of a way to easily transfer data from these earlier versions if you have a USB flash drive (or Dropbox, Google Drive, whatever) very convenient:

    (1) Download Palm Desktop 6.2 or 6.2.2 to your new PC.  Give a user name exactly as it exists in the database from your old PC.  This name will serve as Office Automation to create a folder name of six letters (an abbreviated version of your name) to hold the data that Palm Desktop will turn upward.  Wait a few seconds for this to happen, and then close the application on your new desktop.

    (2) in your old PC you want to transfer data from, find the folder named "Palm OS Desktop" which should exist in 'Documents' under path of folder and subfolders 'Users' as > your subfolder name > Documents in Windows 7 (can also be Vista) or may be under "Documents and Setting" folder in Windows XP.

    (3) in this folder "Palm OS Desktop" search this subfolder of six letters of your name and select this whole subfolder and select 'Copy' or Ctrl-C

    (4) locate the same name of subfolder in your new PC (which will have data zero), delete and then 'paste' the subfolder you "copied" in the exact same location.  If you did it right, Viola!  Your new desktop PC should display all the transferred data, once you open the application again.

Most of the same procedure works with PC Windows 8.1 (probably also Windows 8).  What I found different is that the subfolder of data created under "Palm OS Desktop} had 7 instead of 6 characters with a"0"(zero), added as the last character.  When finally, you copy and paste this subfolder in the new PC there so rename and add "0" for the Palm Desktop to locate these data.

    I hope this helps.

Data in XP is located in C:\Program Files\Palm (or PalmOne) \ < your HotSync name truncated > \Backup.

HotSync for Win8 has been available for quite a while now!  See the post at the beginning of this section called "64-bit Windows USB drivers for Palm Desktop" for instructions and driver downloads.

Palm Desktop 4.x and 6.2.2 use different database formats - 6.2.2 went to .mdb as an extension.

Best way to migrate data is to perform a HotSync on the new machine, or use the built-in in Palm Desktop Export/Import option.  Export the addresses and calendar files, and then copy those of the new machine.

The import option to retrieve data.

  • Convert data from Palm Desktop to Outlook?

Is it possible to convert the data for my wife and my Palm Centros currently with Palm Desktop to Outlook 2007? I hope that there is an automated process available, although I don't see anything in a (admittedly quick) look on the Palm website. Any tips? Suggestions? Is there a third-party tool? I expect to simply do a conversion at once...

    TIA-

    Ken Mayer

hirschv, have a look here on your PC:

Start button / all programs/Palm/PIM led Sync / syncing with Outlook.

This is the 'switch' that redirects your Centro to Outlook data.    Palm Desktop by Access 6.2.2 conducted Outlook 2007 integrated into the program, but the version 4.x is not and will require a patch to download first on the Palm support pages:

  • I can't open the .jpg files from the desktop using "Windows Photo Gallery" as the default program. They open normally from nowhere elsewhere, but not directly from the desktop. No error, nothing happens.

If I right click 'open with' open with other programs like IE but not "Windows Photo Gallery". It is not a specific .jpg file, this is all .jpg files. For example... I have a .jpg file in a folder on my desktop, open folder double click, it will open in the "Windows Photo Gallery". Copy and paste the SAME file on the desktop, double-click on, nothing happens. I tried to restart, change the default value of IE, open the file, it opens, by default change to "Windows Photo Gallery" doesn't work... I am confused?

    Hello

Welcome to the community of Windows Vista answers.

    Method 1:

This can happen in the database that keeps track of all the photos and videos in your collection is damaged. You can rebuild your database by:

    (1) close Windows Live Photo Gallery

    (2) · Click Start

    (3) · Click on my computer

    (4) · Paste this address into the address field %userprofile%\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Windows Live Photo Gallery

    (5) · Right-click Pictures.pd5

    (6) click on rename

    (7) · Change the name of the file to OLD_Pictures.pd5

    (8) · Restart the computer and then try to open the Windows Photo Gallery.

    Method 2:
Try using the tool (SFC.exe) System File Checker to check and repair corrupt system files.  To do this, follow these steps:

    How to run scan SFC

    1. click on the Start button

    2. on the Start Menu, click all programs followed by accessories

    3. in the menu accessories, right-click on command line option

    4. in the drop-down menu that appears, click the "Run as Administrator" option

5 If you have the enabled User Account Control (UAC) you will be asked to consent to the opening of the command line. You simply press the button continue if you are the administrator or insert password etc.

    6. in the command prompt window, type: sfc/scannow then press enter

    7. a message is displayed to indicate that "the analysis of the system will start.

    8. be patient because the analysis may take some time

    9. If all of the necessary files any replacement SFC will replace them. You may be asked to insert your Vista DVD for this process to continue

    10. If all goes although you should, after the analysis, see the following message "Windows resource protection not found any breach of integrity.

11 after the scan finished, close the command prompt window reboot the computer and check.

  • When I try to download a file from the internet, it shows that the download is complete but then disappears from the desktop. I can not open or save attachments in e-mail

I am runing Windows 7 IE8 searching in Google, Microsoft Security Essentials that came pre-installed. I tried to disable the anti-virus (MSE), disabling the firewall, creating a new user account, safe mode, by saving the file on different locations, including a switching flash player. Looking for the file once downloaded, but there is no sign. I checked my file and check options "Show hidden folders". I can also view or open any e-mail attachments, pdf through Windows Live Mail i.e.excel... Help, please!

You say you have win7 and yet you have posted to a group of Vista

You cannot open an attachment unless you have the appropriate software installed, that is to say you need Excel or the excel reader in order to view an excel file.

Looks like you've been juggling your win7 settings, you do not disable the firewall or disble MSE, or create a new user account.

The default location for downloads using IE8 is C:\Users\'username'\Downloads

Assuming that you have a version of Office that is installed, insert the Office cd and run Office Diagnostics, or detect and repairs according to the version

  • Palm Desktop 6.2.2 on Win8.1 synchronization but only showing no data

I'm so happy to have found this forum.  I didn't know there was so much love for the old Palm devices.  I started with a Palm V and worked my way up to a Tungsten T & palm Desktop 4.1.4 on WInXP and everything was so good that I resisted to move away from Palm Desktop, as it is just what I need.  But I just bought a new Win8.1 PC and am having a few problems that I hope someone here can help with.

I have been through help here on the installation of Palm Desktop 6.2.2 and win8 driver and installation has been very good and I couldn't hotsync via USB without apparent problems, except that Palm Desktop does not display any of my palm data!

When I ran hotsync (from cradle palm button) it asks a user name.  My Tungsten T was already used on my XP PC and was full of data.  If I entered the username of tungsten and hotsync continued.  It took a few minutes or so (as would be expected) and once finished he said that everything was ok.  I checked the logand Hotsync, it was confirmed that everything was synced properly - but when I open Palm Desktop there is no displayed data.

I then checked the data files in ...documents\Palm OS Desktop\... and addresses and calendar files are present and full of my data.  I've even opened in Notepad and could easily see loads of text ascii among all of the "junk" characters, so it seems that the synchronization process has worked correctly, but none of my Tungsten is displayed in Palm Desktop.

I then added an event on the agenda in Palm Desktop and another event the same day in tungsten.  I then did an another hotsync.  It was reported as a success, but the event of tungsten is not in the office, although the same office appeared on the tungsten.  If the synchronization process seems to work only one way!

I have had it before and would appreciate any help.

OK, try to use the "Palm Hotsync Setup" program found on this page.

    Since you're using an old T | T, maybe that's the answer.

There is a guide available on this site for the migration of data from Palm OS Android, if you are interested.  I made this jump years ago when webOS was finished.  You can find it on their homepage.

  • Palm TX but want to HotSync with the Outlook calendar Palm NOT!

I have a Palm TX with Palm OS Garnet v.5.4.9 I like to use the calendar and tasks etc that come with the Palm operating system, but from what I can tell I can only synchronize with Outlook!  Outlook does not print all my appointments in the week, I also very much and he will cut them to a print on.

There must be a way I can use the calendar that I love so much of Palm.  I used an old Palm III and IIIx and upgraded to the TX.  It's a deal breaker, I hate Outlook its not functional for me with what I'm doing.  Anyone have any ideas here?  When nothing appears on the Palm calendar or tasks hotsync etc.  I have the Palm Desktop by Access 6.2.2 application.  I went in the HotSync setting Manager but my only options are listed as schedule (Outlook), Contacts (Outlook) etc and I can change if the handheld or desktop computer Replace duplicates.  IT'S HER!  Should I uninstall and reinstall an earlier version?  Palm TX will work with that?  Its my time 04:24 and I'm driving me crazy trying to figure out the fix for this.  Got to sleep but will check for all the answers!

Thanks for any help I can get!

Hello livingny, welcome to the Palm support community.

Try running the 'switch' to sync with Palm Desktop.  Somehow, it seems to be set to synchronize with Outlook now.

On your PC go to: Start Button/All programs/Palm/PIM led Sync / Sync with Palm Desktop.

To redirect the information in Palm Desktop on your next HotSync calendar App.

  • How to import from outlook tol Palm Desktop (*.dba)?

I lost my (Palm Vx) hardware, but I have all my data on my computer (Windows XP). Can´t Outlook Import *.dba as far as I understand. How can I recover my Outlook calendar?

Hello and thank you for using the Palm Help Forums!

You will want to consider a programme of 3rd party called PocketCopy. This will transfer data from Palm Desktop in Microsoft Outlook.

  • Upgrade Plam Desktop app for Palm Desktop by ACCESS

Have tried to move from Palm Desktop on Vista (Tungsten T) again Palm Desktop by ACCESS that came with a new Centro, I get the message "File in use" during the installation process.  The message is this: the following applications use files should be updated by this Setup. Close the application and click Retry to continue - Windows Explorer (process Id: 1716).  1468, yesterday.

Explorer does not at least visibly.  Yesterday, I ignored this process and passed, but something seems to have gone wrong.  I was not able to sync.  Information about Palm Desktop was missing.

From TT to Centro, I probably have to give up 3rd party applications, but move all the other data (contacts, calendar, Memo, etc.) for Centro.  The tech guy that I was talking last night could not help me and told me to call someone who is familiar with the Palm.  Someone at - he meets a similar problem?

Yes, you will need to update the Docs To Go to 10 or save the files in 2003 for use on the Centro with the current version of the DTG.

Regarding the 3rd party app, the Centro is a newer and improved performance compared to the T.

The Centro has 4 times the internal memory at T has.

If you wish, you can first try to install it on the map and see if there are performance problems. If this isn't the case, then stay on the map. If it seems slow, install in the main memory of Centro.

To copy all your data from Palm Desktop to Outlook without a device, you must go to Chapura.com and buy an app called PocketCopy. He will be able to take all your data from Palm Desktop and drop it in a vacuum (new) profile in outlook. I hope this helps...
