• Help, my lightroom cannot find my catalog at startup

  Where can I find my catalog? This program works perfectly for 6 months. So that's what happened when I tried to re - open LIGHTROOM on my IMAC OSX 10.9.5 5.7... now I can't go through a screen that says "Adobe Photoshop Lightroom - select a catalog...". and there is a list that says "select a recent catalog to open...". BUT there is no listed catalogue click. WHERE is my 17 000 photo book? (everything was working fine until I added another FOLDER called ARchive and is my external storage drive...) How to use this form?

  PS I'd also renamed the PICTURES to THE PICTURES folder, don't you think not that LIghtroom cannot find it now? I looked for the .lrcat extensions and found a series of backups, so how can I get the LIghtroom program to find the catalog?

  Of course, this is why Lightroom cannot find the catalog. But if you go to the folder all IMAGES should have a Lightroom folder. And inside this folder, you will find your catalog. It has the .lrcat extension. There are other files in this folder as well as Lightroom depends on. And since you renamed your pictures folder Lightroom cannot find these either. In any case, double-click the catalog file in the new location and everything should be good.

  Programs are designed to run on the dependencies in different folders. It's really not a good idea to rename you arbitrarily a folder. In fact, I would really say that you change the name of this folder to what it was originally, and let it. It's a standard folder that other programs might be addicted as well.

  And just to clarify, I would like to rename your PHOTOS ALL at what it was originally before you start looking for the catalogue and double click on it as I suggested. This folder of photos could almost supposed to constitute a system folder, in my opinion. It's that I don't think needs to be renamed.

  My wife uses an iMac with OS 10.9.4 and 5.5 of LR. The LR catalog and pictures are on an external hard drive. Whenever she launches LR it displays the dialog box asking to select a catalog however no catalog is listed. She navigates to catalog and selects, LR opens the catalog and begins with 'tips' screen as if she was going to open LR for the first time. I put the catalog LR preferences indicating that the catalog that it uses must open up to the opening of LR, I selected "do not show again" for the screen of "Advice" but nothing will change at the next opening of LR.

  Clues on how to solve this problem will be appreciated.

  Looks like preferences have been corrupt and must be reset. Of course, they will act exactly as what you see on the first restart, and you may find the catalog that you would use in fact, rather than by default creates a Lightroom.

• Lightroom cannot find Photoshop CS5

  I just installed for CS5 and uninstalled CS4. (I have a license of the CLP and can not get updates, so I have to install each new version of CS from scratch).  Now, Lightroom 2.7 is not Photoshop.  The new version is in C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS5\, but Lightroom is apparenlty in CS4 folder. I can't find a way to tell LR where to look for PS is - does anyone know how I can get PS returned as an external editor?  Thank you.

  My old computer had a diving C only.  All the photos and lightroom saved on the C drive.  On the new computer OS on C, all documents, photos etc on D.  Lightroom displays more my files.  How can I fix it?

  Are the images in the same folder on the D drive structure as they were when they were on the C drive? If this isn't the case, then you must place them in the same structure.

  If when the C they were in C:\Users\YourUserName\Pictures\Lightroom and then some subfolders they need it then the same D:\Lightroom\ structure files, same subfolders.

  Otherwise, you will have to reconnect them individually or by new subfolders, they are now in.

  Photos stores your images in a buried folder called Masters. This folder is hidden inside a Package folder that ends with .photoslibrary.

  You need to right click on the package folder and select "Show Package content" then it extends to many different files.

  

  

  Lightroom can't see that folder Masters because it is masked by Apple, Mac, OS X.

  The version of Camera Raw that see you in Lightroom, it is what is incorporated for Lightroom...

  What version of Photoshop are you using?  OK, I see you say CS6

  It maybe now CS6 takes no more updates for ACR... Let me check.

  EDIT: Ok ACR9.1.1 is the last version for CS6 so that you will always get now that opening from Lightroom... you must choose Lightroom to make... and then when you want to edit the PSD in Photoshop still choose to modify the Original.

  Although I tried to move the folders and files only with Lightroom, I see that many of my images in the thumbnails shown in the library cannot open 5 Lightroom cannot find the files.  I guess that I moved the files between readers accidentally without knowledge of Lightroom.  I also find that I can control click and try to find individual files.  Is it possible to make this process of discovery for the readers or the entire folders?  Can I import files from a disk (which is the original source of the lost files) mass and run through the import on Lightroom function and return them directly in the file from which they were imported?  This create a new thumbnail in the library but duplicate files in the affected folder, and the drive?

  Jim, thank you very much for your answer.  I used the approach that you have listed, but there are still a number of lost images.  Maybe I didn't do the below files I try.

  The D800 has been supported since Lightroom 4.1.

  You use an earlier version of the Nikon software to transfer files from camera to computer? Older versions are known to make Raw files unreadable by Adobe software.

  Try to download a version update of Nikon. Or use a different card for example reader method.

  These error messages can occur if you (or software) also disabled Aero. Aero must be on (and supported by the video card) to play Chess Titans. "192GO should be enough for everyone." (of the miniseries "Next generation jokes")
