SUGGESTIONS NEEDED: Graphic designer who needs to organize my graphic library

Ive been wanting to find a better way to organize my extensive library of what follows (art of vector and Raster): Raster/vector designs, Logos, icons, vector graphics, backgrounds, Fonts (I use FontBook), print & web templates, Stock Photos, a large NUMBER of vector art, something frills to multi color images complex Web Design stuff (icons (, buttons, banners, etc) and last but not the least swatches native Adobe CS, patterns, gradients, actions and brushes.  I'm sure I've left out some, but you get the idea.

I build my large collection for the period of 4-5 years and has grown to 40g of HD space to house these vaguely catergorized subfolder (i.e., vector Art, Stock Photos, plugins (degraded, brushes, etc) PS backgrounds/Textures, so on and so forth.)  I would like to store my data on the outside but with the speed of the USB flow, am not wanting to slow deck more than it does already. But help with external storage and quick access to the files would also contribute to

As your probably thinking he is trying to become difficult to manage and even worse finding or searching for items, whereas many generically is Ive gained package names (132456.eps. flower00234.jpg, etc.)  Bridge helps a lot, but I'm trying to catergorize records and the Word key, or images that as clean as possible I hope to do it manually on a system recommended or using a 3rd party software to apply metadate as keywords that will be available is IDEAL!

I started using Lightroom 3 to manage and catalog my collection (no), but like the keywords functionality and features meta data in LR.

So what I am trying to accompish:
1. organize all my art in of specific catergories
2. I hope use metadata and keywords within the operating system program or a 3rd party manufacture easily searchable items in the Finder or Adobe Bridge.
3. properly manage and store the art as it comes to me several times a day to keep everything up-to-date if I make a backup of all my design files, every month or so to keep stored on computer or on the cloud.

Of the suggestions(software/procedures), links or general help on this issue is greatly appreciated!

  • ADF Mobile: design suggestions needed

    so I'm building a mobile application and want it supported on Web services exposed using adf bc.

    The question is to create the webservice project, I had to do it in a separate workspace or should I create the model project in the workspace of the mobile app?

    Both are technically feasible, what are the views of the expert.

    You create the ADF BC model on the server, not the mobile application of ADF. I recommend that you create the ADF BC service interface in a separate web module ADF BC project. On the ADF mobile app, you then create a project for the WS data control to access the WS of the ADF BC service reference.

  • Table work around suggestions needed

    I am a new user of MUSE having been forced to give up my beloved old FrontPage software where I had the ability to design the tables internally, split cells, merge cells, add or remove rows and use the table to control the position of objects and text on my pages.  I'm working on a real estate site that changes frequently that the ads are added, outstanding, or sold.  In the past, I could just copy & cut a line containing information and photos of a table and move to a different section then reinsert - simple keystrokes couple and made.  When I took out a line, the rest of the table back in place and filled the holes .  Nothing was to be moved around manually.

    I understand that I could make a table in another program and import it in MUSE in HTML, but I need the ability to be able to easily modify the table on the fly.  Redraw the table constantly, then adding all the content just don't work at all, and a simple change could take a whole day of work.

    With all my content on the homepage of Muse, there are so many pieces that need to be selected and moved around / moved when the State of a listing of Exchange it is completely unworkable.  I like to keep the most recent ads at the top of the page and others move down as needed.

    I don't know why, but do things and deselecting items are very clumsy and slow on my computer Windows 8, which is also very fast and none of my other software has this issue slow - only MUSE.

    Does anyone have suggestions on how to make this work?  I'm ripping my hair out!

    Tables are no longer used and are either obsolete so it's a good choice of Muse is not to support. This right from the site of Mozilla developers:

    I believe you are referring to the rectangles of tile as visitors on the page? not exactly customer database?

    You can add rectangle with different effects with rollover State of mouse and about adding new, you must do this manually in design mode.

  • Using IMAQ create - Suggestions needed

    Hi ppl,

    I use a lot of IMAQ create VI to create image stamps in my application. Since there are a lot of instances IMAQ create it will be better to create all the references of the image at once and use them. Or is it OK to create buffers to image and close them inside each sub VI. My fear is that since these sub VI is called inside the loop it will not be a good idea to open the reference of the image for each iteration.

    If you create a reference to an already created image and if you call IMAQ Dispose.VI on this reference so as the image will be deleted from memory. Thus, the image will also be not available in the other thread where the image was created first.

    I think it is best to create the image at the start of the program if you need very often an image 'assistance' to store the results of treatment. I guess that it make little difference in a Subvi if you pass the reference of the image through the front panel or get with IMAQ create. The difference is in not throwing images every time.

    IMAQ has all open one image at a time by using a Boolean value, you can close connect to the VI.

  • Chart suggestions needed

    I have some data that are say amount for 7 days. This quantity value 1 day is 1541 and 2nd day say 1543, 3rd day say 1541 and so for 7 days only vary from 1 or 2 units.

    I created a graphic line to portray. But as the amount varies from a small value to every day so that the chart seems not interesting at all. It looks like a straight line (the less human eyes). Thus, any suggestions to plot a graph that looks interesting showing this small variation a little prominent.

    Just to add others that I chose graphic line coz series, I got three quantities. Say the amount of product A, product B quantiy and the quantity of product C. product A quantiy starts in 1541 and varies +/-1 or 2 every day and in the same way beginning of product B to 645, beginning of the C 115 product with the same degree of variation.

    In all the chart looks like only 3 straight lines... How to make a little interesting grpah with this type of data?

    Change your vertical axis (y) as follows:



    interval = 1, the value axis forces stick to whole numbers. If you change the interval = 0.5, it will give 0.5 intervals and so on.

  • InDesign DPS several suggestion of workflow designer

    My team is currently working on a magazine. In order to speed up the timetable of the project, we have divided 3 parts of books for 3 designers.

    3 of them store the indesign files in their own PC/Mac.

    Here's the problem:

    When 1 of the designer with a short trip and unable to make amends article he is accountable to. Then another designer 2 need to go to his machine to make the changes. Or copy the indesign files to their own machine and re-upload article even once.

    I want to ask is - can we leave to store all the indesign files on the server and we can access with several machine such as PC and Mac?

    I try to download the indesign file from the server from my Mac, but my colleague can access from his PC.

    Any suggestion or solution for this kind of problem?

  • Need simple explanation - move iTunes library to new PC

    I'm looking for a simple explanation of the functioning to the iTunes library to MOVE from one PC to another. The current/old computer will go far. KEY: need to keep notes of the song and playlists.  The last time I did I lost the scoring for thousands of songs and lost all the selections.

    • Where appropriate, consolidate your library so that all media included in the library are stored in iTunes standard media folders
    • Copy the complete library (whether as a result of the default values of iTunes, this will be C:\Users\username\Music\iTunes) from the old PC to the location on the new PC
      • If the library is small, if would be possible to copy over a network or using a USB
      • for large libraries, use an external hard drive as an intermediate storage device
      • Although the Windows copy and paste standard functions ' should be enough, third-party utility (I use Terracopy), or the method described in the user tip of turingtest2 on the backup of your iTunes for Windows with SyncToy library, may be more resistant to errors possible/interruptions during the copy process
    • If you have already installed and launch iTunes on the new PC, you need to overwrite all the files/folders is already present in C:\Users\username\Music\iTunes (this implies that you haven't added all the new PC which is not present on the old media).
    • Now launch iTunes on the new PC - the method described above ensures that data from the old PC iTunes (which is where are stored all your playlists, ratings, etc.) is available on the new.
    • An additional advantage to do this correctly, is that the new PC has now a physical copy of the same logic of the old library, so all iDevices will see this 'the same' library and you can continue the synchronization operations without risk of deletion of the device.

    You can add custom classes and JAR files to a composite SOA application. A library to extend SOA to add classes from jars and extension to a composite SOA application is available in the $ORACLE_HOME/soa/modules/oracle.soa.ext_11.1.1 directory.

    This approach, but requires a restart of the server and the pots are not deployed as shared libraries.

    I don't know if you can shared reference JEE libs in your composite application.

    I don't understand this. Downloads of the place where? Apple provides no music in Apple Lossless format. You can store all the files in a compatible format in the library, it's just that you can end up with multiple copies, each one representing the different format, unless you remove other versions or you do something fancy with smart playlists.

  • Organization of photo library

    I am in the process by putting my main workstation to Windows to Mac. I have a pretty big photo archive (110 GB), that I always organized in the folders as I want - year, photo taken months and I use Bridge and Photoshop for editing (cloud Creative). I really _want_ to take photos but I understand Photos on import organizes all the pictures of the Photoslibrary in folders by date imported. That makes me hesitate. I don't understand. Have tried Googling and Youtubing, but cannot decide what to do. My biggest concern is that if I want to return to using Bridge and Photoshop as my main workflow I'd on the photos in Finder folders organized by photographing year/month - is it possible to export all the photos in the photo library in Finder folders organized by photo date taken?

    Of course, another option is to use the photos without copy photos in the photo library. Is this a bad alternative? Is there any feature that I miss with the option?

    Help a total newbie on Mac out. I'm so confused.

    Pictures displays your photo library in two different views:

    1. The sight of Photos show you the photos organized by "Moments." A Moment is a group of photos taken on the same day in the same place.  The times appear firstly by capture date, oldest chronlogically.  You can change the display of the Moments to a view of collections or year for large groups of photos.  Collections are grouping related moments, so you will find pictures of holidays in a collection. The title of the collections and the moments will show catpture date and location, if your photos are tagged with GPS. I mainly use this view to access my photos to the capture date.  Collections and the 'Moments', years are saving me a lot of work, since the consolidation is carried out fully automatically.  I don't have to create folders named by date ranges and places on my own.
    2. The photos in the album 'Pictures' is sort by the date you imported, so that you can easily access the most recent import.

    And Yes, you can export your photos in folders named by date.  Among the export options is the subfolder option "name of the Moment."

    The Masters folder inside the photo library contains the original images, if you copy photos in the library, but it is not intended as a means to access pictures.  Always use the GUI of photos recover photos and pass them to external publishers.  To edit a photo in photoshop, you open the photo in edit mode and run the extension of "External editors" photo editing and select Photoshop as editor.

    Photos will work this way, but you cannot use iCloud photo library.

    Also, this is not well supported to use the pictures in this way.  Photos has no tools to reconnect the pictures referenced quickly, if you must move the photos to another drive. or if you restore a backup photos, because the leaning reader operation.  You will have a lot of work, if you need to replace your drive with the library or move it to a new computer.  So I can't really recommend.  If you want to manage your photos from the Finder, do not use the Photos for Mac application.

    I prefer to have mage Photos my photos, because it is easy to create albums of the purpose FRO specific to search for photos: the date of capture one titles and legends, the names of the people in the photos, the name of the scene.

    But it is to you, how you want to organize your Photos.  You can use a Mac without the help of pictures.

    If you like Adobe software, why not use Lightroom?  It supports the referenced pictures and integrates well with Photoshop.

    I decided to spend time in organizing and creating a backup decent system for my personal iibrary of images which is about 500Gig.

    I used CaptureOne for years, but to do research the best software to use for this purpose, decided to jump in the use of Lightroom.

    I am now reasonably confident with the basics of importing and creating catalogs / folders / Collections etc., but there seems to be a slight fracture on how people break there images using these tools.

    Some people recommend that this is done by creating multiple catalogs is to say every year or even by use / event because it prevents LR latecomers under duress of a large portfolio.   Others say to keep catalogs to an absolute minimum and sort all Collections projects instead.

    I am sure that there is no absolute right and wrong and a lot is probably down to personal preferences, but can I ask the community if you would mind throwing some advantages and disadvantages of each method please?

    It is a horrible idea which defeats the entire purpose of the Lightroom library Module. Any who recommend what needs to explain how it is preferable, because it isn't better somehow, in my opinion.

    If you have multiple catalogs, you can not search for your set of photos. You find not all photos with particular metadata, you can find the photos with this metadata in a catalog.

    Most people I know (including most of the people in this forum I've read) say to keep everything in a single catalog. Use keywords and other metadata, no collections, as your tool main body. Smart Collections are used as a mechanism of research (not a mechanism of "spell"). Regular collections are used to group the pictures together for a specific task, such as the creation of a book, slideshow, web page, etc. (again not a mechanism of "spell".
