Support BitLocker G555?

Question roughly by subject-

I tried to activate Bitlocker on my drive system via the context menu and received a message that no appropriate TPM device could not be found.

It would amaze me that a new cell phone in 2010 would not come with a TPM chip.  However, thanks to the brilliant choice of Lenovo to a USELESS BIOS, I does not seem to be able to find a way to turn on a TPM chip, when one exists.

Is this really true? That the new laptops Lenovo have no TPM chips and so cannot use Bitlocker the way it was intended to be used?

Yes, but you can try to encrypt only the primary partition (Windows), not the entire disk.

You can try if you have the time and patience.

  • Tecra M5 - supported BIOS for Bitlocker in TPM mode

I have a Tecra M5 (PTM51E) running Vista Ultimate. I would like to configure Bitlocker with the TPM secure who is aboard. I am aware that you can use Bitlocker without a TPM, but it requires the user to have an external token for example on a USB key that they have to be inserted at boot time. I prefer to use the TPM mode there is no need of this.

I have flashed the BIOS to v3.60 which is the last. Before I was able to Flash the BIOS in Vista (which is the only option provided on the Toshiba's European support site) I found I was load drivers for 'VAT package', without that this BIOS update simply says "computer not supported." Another way to do it is get the BIOS for the PTM51U from the American site which allows you to write the BIOS update on a bootable floppy.

I used the "Bitlocker Drive preparation tool" which is available in "ultimate" Microsoft to set up the partitions as required by Bitlocker, i.e. my HDD 40 GB is divided into a primary to be encrypted (c) partition of 35.7 GB and 1.5 GB separate partition (s).

I have the driver v3.00.1135.00 "Trusted Platform Module", which is the last. After you activate the TPM secure in the BIOS (press and hold ESC when turn on/off and then press F1, second page) I can then go to the Infineon security platform Initialization Wizard and set the "owner of the platform" and other passwords etc.

The TPM Initialization Wizard automatically opens the Bitlocker setup application when it ends (or you can get to it any time thereafter through the control panel).

The message I get from the Bitlocker cmdlet is:

"Your system is not configured to use BitLocker Drive encryption. The BIOS did not correctly communicate with the Master Boot Record (MBR). Contact the computer manufacturer for BIOS upgrade instructions'.

Does anyone have this working on a M5 (i.e. Bitlocker with TPM)? How did you do?

    Thank you very much m.

  • W7 and my new HP PC - Bitlocker

I have a new HP PC (HP Pavilion Elite h8-1039).  If I'm on W7 version that supports encryption with BitLocker, how will I know if my PC hardware is able to use it?  I ask because a few years ago I had a new (not HP) desktop with Vista Ulitmate, and when I tried to use Bitlocker, it said there was no TPM isn't installed and the manufacturer told me after the fact, that the equipment could not work with Bitlocker.  Is it possible to see if the material has a module of TPM or Bitlocker needs now?

    Thank you

    Mike

Here are the specs of your computer from HP h8-1039 and here are the specifications of the card mother Μatx-RS880-H (Aloe) in your system. There is no mention of the TPM secure anywhere in the documentation, so it is unlikely that she supports the TPM. Also, I have a HP with a m/b Aloe and Eastern computer without TPM option secure in the BIOS and no device TPM listed in the Windows Device Manager.

That being said, the versions of Windows 7 that support BitLocker to use a USB key to store the key BitLocker. There may be conditions and limitations associated with the use of BitLocker in this way. Please read this document from Microsoft regarding the use of BitLocker and Windows 7.

  • Acer veriton x4640g: ACPI\MSFT0101 he is a rider who can install this?

    Device Manager: ACPI\MSFT0101 (unknown)

I have no idea if I can get these drivers...

    pls HELP...

    TNX_shin18

    Hi, @shin18 :

Unfortunately, there is no W7 32-bit driver for this device.

If you upgrade to W7 64 bit, this is... you install this hotfix.  It is only good for W7 64 bit.

    https://support.Microsoft.com/en-us/KB/2920188

Now... If you need to run W7 32 bit, check the BIOS of your PC and see if there is a setting to turn off the Trusted Platform Module (TPM).

Unless you are running W7 Ultimate or Enterprise, this device has no value.

It is only used to support Bitlocker on the operating systems W8.1 and W10.

Only the W7 Ultimate and Enterprise versions supports Bitlocker.

If you can not disable it in BIOS and you can not install W7 64 bit, then you can simply ignore the device not installed, now that you know what it's for.

  • Question on the TPM on g7 - 2381eg.

    Hello

I am owner of the g7 - 2381eg and I'm trying to implement encryption bitlocker on it, while the d: (not system) is supported by bitlocker, disk C: (System) is not! It is said that no TPM module has been found. I want to know is this model supports this feature TPM and so, how can I enable it. UEFI, there's something releated to safety and start keys secure.

    Thanks in advance.

    Hello:

Only a few portable computers companies HP have TPM chips.

HP consumer notebooks have no TPM chips.

Your consumption pattern will not support bitlocker.

  • Pro vs ultimate: is the difference of ONLY between Win7Pro and Win7Ult the language support of Bitlocker and Multi?

I have Vista Ultimate and want to upgrade. It looks to me that Vista Ultimate should be upgraded to Win7Pro if your not using or nededing Bitlocker or a multi-language support. I can only find the compairison simplified feature and it makes me worried that I might make a mistake. Ultimate in Vista has features like support for live wallpapers. Will it be a feature included in Windows 7 Pro version, or what I need to keep on the path of the ultimate.

In point: Fact Windows 7 Professional have ALL but 2 offers this Windows 7 Ultimate seporate?

Its combination of things. BitLocker data provide a protection on the disks, internal and external, DirectAccess provides a transparent connectivity to your corporate network.  (requires Windows Server 2008 R2), clerical management reduced time waiting to open the file on the network with BranchCache. (requires Windows Server 2008 R2), prevent from running with AppLocker unauthorized software. In addition, the features that were formerly available Windows Vista Ultimate Dreamscene and Ultimate Extras are no more a part of Windows 7. In addition, you can't keep these features during the upgrade of Windows Vista Edition full of Windows 7, they will be deleted. • 250 HP G4: HP 250 g4 Windows 7 Bitlocker

    Hello.

I have HP 250 g4 with TPM module and installed Windows 7 x 64 Ultimate.

I have updated the bios to version F. 21 and set options 'Device TPM' to 'Available' and "State TPM" to "enabled."

In Device Manager I see Security TPM v. 2.0.

When I try to use Bitlocker, I get message, TPM does not support the current version of WOOD and I need to contact the manufacturer of the BIOS update.

    How to fix?

Which option 'TPM State' in the BIOS do?

    Concerning

I solved this problem. System disk must be converted to MBR mode TPG. Windows 7 must be installed using the UEFI. You must install the Windows6 update. 1 KB2920188-v7 - x 64.  After Bitlocker with TPM2.0 works.

  • The update of the BIOS for Satellite Pro M70 does support TPM?

    Hello

There was an update of the bios that is specially designed for Vista... = bios-vista - 510win.zip on the Toshiba site...

Although my Satellite Pro M70-113 did not support the default TPM module (BIOS verson 1.1, I always have this), is it possible that this update includes the TPM secure to enable bitlocker on vista?

Can someone check and confirm please... :)

And secondly, is configuration BIOS update for Windows utility saves the current state of the BIOS in some external as backup media, while if it happens with the process of update... the previous version can be restored in return?

And a BIOS may be downgraded?

    Thank you.

    Hello

(1.) I m not 100% sure but I think the new BIOS for the M70 does not support the TPM secure. I read somewhere that all BIOS versions that support TPM on Toshiba laptops cannot be updated by a common user, but the user must contact the authorized Toshiba service provider for these updates.
That's why I think that Toshiba would not any BIOPS version by download issue if this BIOS would support the TPM.

2.) now something about the second question:
The new BIOS version replaces the old BIOS and BIOS States and to my knowledge it of not possible to save the settings for a backup more later.
Generally, you must be careful with any update of the BIOS. Bad BIOS or bad update procedure may damage the jury!

  • Z930 Satellite PT23LA - 00D 009 does support TPM?

    Ask for help please!

I have a Toshiba Satellite Z930 for which I try to enable Bitlocker for drive encryption, the TPM module-based.
When I bought my Ultrabook, I agree that there was any TPM (Trusted Platform Module).

Several Internet searches seem to suggest satellite models Z930 have TPM...

    How will I know however if my Z930 Satellite PT23LA - 00D 009 a TPM?

Note: It does not appear in the BIOS as an option to turn on or off, and I have upgraded the BIOS (for v6.80) and is not visible any reference to this. THIS version is 1.20.

    Any suggestion would be appreciated!

Your laptop has been preloaded with Win7 Home Premium 64 bit OS.

BitLocker Drive encryption is supported only on Windows 7 Ultimate Edition and Enterprise Edition.

And no, you can't add this feature to Win 7 HP OS.
To use BitLocker Drive encryption, you need to install Ultimate and Enterprise edition.

  • How to enable bitlocker on Tecra M5 with Windows 7

    Hello!
Can someone help me to enable bitlocker on M5 with Win7?
I also think that a BIOS update is nessessary, but the version that I downloaded from Toshiba (3.70) doesn´t work on the M5 motorway. "This computer is not supported.
    Please, help me

    Tanks, bye

As far as I know, this problem is not related to Toshiba, but for the version of the OS pre-installed so for more information contact Microsoft.

  • Protégé M200: Question about Vista TPM and the Bitlocker

You want to know if I have a TPM chip to launch bitblocker on the M200 using Vista. Just call Toshiba Technical Support - the guy was totally distraught!

If I don't have a TPM chip, then I can install it?

    Hello

It is a good question. To my knowledge the Portege M200 does not support TPM but the Portege M400, R400 module and the R200

But the Bitlocker, which is only available on the Vista Enterprise and ultimate can also be used without the TPM chip but then some functions are not available; for example, the SecureBoot.
Without TPM only the OS volume encryption is available.
In this case you can encrypts the entire Windows volume including both data and file system user, the file of hibernation, the page file and the temporary files.

Using volume of BONE (HDD) encryption an encryption key will be generated. This key will be written to the USB and then the USB is required!

AFAIK the Bitlocker requires 2 partitions. A partition must be created as needs at least 50 MB primary partition. I recommend a? about 1.5 GB
The second big partition Vista can be installed.

After the installation of Vista the Bitlocker must be enabled in Group Policy (units without secure TPM). This can be done using the command 'gpedit '.
And then under models of administration-> windows components-> Bitlocker bitlocker function can be activated!

Anyway, there is much information Bitlocker and I think you should also consult the Microsoft Web site for more information:
BitLocker Windows Drive Encryption step-by-step guide
