Support CPU for Satellite Pro 4600 series

I tried to find out if I can pass the CPU on my satellite 4600. It is running a PIII 800 MHz, but what is the maximum that can support the system board?

Hello

Like chris said there is no way to upgrade CPU. You can upgrade the RAM. The maximum memory for your laptop model is 512 MB.

    Hello

There are not many drivers and utilities, so I recommend starting with Chip Set Utility, Display Driver, Driver Sound, infrared Driver, LAN Driver, Wireless Lan Driver, mouse driver.
Then follow with common modules and energy-saving, etc.

    Hello

You can find these drivers on the European driver Toshiba page.
I think you didn't look in the folder to ARCHIVE.

That's why first ARCHIVE-> Satellite Pro-> Satellite Pro 46xx-> Satellite Pro 4600 for all Toshiba drivers for this oldie ;)

    Hello

I found the news that DVD-ROM Toshiba SD-C2402 and Toshiba SD-R2002 readers are compatible with your model of laptop. If you have info that Toshiba SD-C2732 can also be used you should try it.

Moreover, in my opinion, it is OK that's just English allowed on this forum and can be understandable for us all.

  • Drivers for Satellite Pro 4600

    Hi all

I just reinstalled the operating system on a 4600, but I have no driver disk. I checked this site (for the last week and a half) and a lot of research on google, but can't find an archive of drivers for this laptop more old.

I went on the Canadian site that another person was carried out, and although they have the 4600, the reference numbers are not matching.

Part for my mobile number is PS460U-06QVX8.

Once done, I will also consider pilots for a Satellite 2180CDT. If all goes well, the two drivers are in the same place.

    Thank you.

  • Restrict HD for Satellite Pro 4600?

    Greetings!
I thought of upgrading my Satellite Pro 4600 (PIII 800 MHz, 20 GB, 386 MB RAM) with a larger HD.

My question is: what are the limits of this upgrade? Can I put in we'll say a 60 GB HDD? 80 GB? or is the satellite Pro 4600 limited to 20 or 40 GB?

I am running Win XP, bios and other updates specific to the Toshiba computer are up-to-date.

BTW: can I choose freely amongst external hard drive? Are there any size limits for these storage devices?

(The satellite Pro 4600 is a robust small snowman isn't?) I pulled a joke with a colleague: "Hey, I got an apartment yesterday when driving in the countryside. The road was all mud and I had to use my Toshiba under the jack! ("He thought me :)...).

    /Wade

    Hey,.

Toshiba has a HDD 40 gig for the model, but I'm not really sure if you can upgrade the model 60 or 80 GB

  • WLAN for Satellite Pro 4600

    Hello

I installed the recovery disk (Windows 2000) for my Satellite Pro 4600 but WIFI could not be started.
The software "Toshiba Wireless LAN Client Manager" says that there is no wireless network card-driver.
I do not see a "Toshiba Wireless LAN Mini PCI Card", only a "Intel (r) PRO/100VE Network Connection" to the hardware Manager card. But there is also a "PCMCIA UNKNOWN_MANUFACTURER" - device. The WLAN driver does not fit.
The Notebookhardware has not been changed then what is it?

Please help me fix this problem.

    Thank you
    Stefan

    Hello

If you use original recovery CD for the installation of the OS (SP4600 only) all hardware components must be installed correctly. Before we do that any external devices should be deleted (USB keys, printer or PCMCIA card). If the wireless card is displayed correctly under NICs without yellow exclamation, I guess that the wireless network card is installed correctly.

Driver Toshiba designed for WLAN should be used for INTEL adapters. I really can't understand why you use the same driver for the PCMCIA unknown device.

In my opinion, you should check the download from Toshiba site and try reinstalling the chipset utility. Please don t forget to disable the WLAN Windows option if you want to use the WLAN client.

    Good bye

  • Need for Satellite Pro 4600 wireless network card

    Hello
ICH have a Satellite Pro 4600 with processor Celeron 700.
    The model Nr is PS460E-00NKZ-GR
Where can I buy a WLAN card for this laptop?

    Best regards
    A. Jung

    I found this thread:
    http://forums.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=12924

Someone suggested that the mini-PCI Wireless card has PA3070U-1MPC part number.
Google for this part number and you should find some offers or you will contact the service provider allowed in your country to order a card compatible WLan.

  • PC133 is suitable for Satellite Pro 4600 memory upgrade?

    Hi all

I'm looking for an extra 256 MB memory module for my Toshiba Satellite Pro 4600. The specs say one module of memory PC100 is necessary, but I was wondering if the PC133 modules would work as well. If so, are there problems with the mixture of the modules (PC100 and PC133)?

    Thank you for your attention.

According to the information on the site of very useful memory module, it should be possible to use the PC133 144 pin SODIMM modules.

I found this info on this site:
    http://www.orcalogic.co.UK/ASP/ProdType.asp?ProdType=5778&ft=m&St=3

In addition I don't recommend mixing the different modules. To my knowledge the lower speed module will decrease the performance of the memory. The two modules will work with the operation of the lower module.

  • For Satellite Pro U400 series Vista drivers

    Hello

I have a laptop Sat Pro U400 - 142 (PSU45E). My computer scientist he wiped Vista (against my will) and stuck on XP. He even gave me a XP Recovery disk! I have now removed XP and stuck on Vista. Unfortunately for Vista Business readers seem not to be on the Toshiba site (only XP). Anyone know where I can get readers or can provide.

    Thank you

    Hello

I think drivers Vista for the Pro U400 (PSU45E) Satellite will come soon.
To check from time to time the European Toshiba driver page because the drivers may be released in the coming days.

Please give me a feedback if you find drivers!

    Hello

As Lucky said already support memory Expansion can be found in the lower corner of your laptop and it is fixed with two screws. I hope you have the module that is compatible with this unit.

I found the info that Ram module with the PA3005U part number is good.

  • Updating BIOS for Satellite Pro 4600

    Hello everyone,

I'm trying to update the bios and I followed the instructions, but I don't know what the problem is.

    1 - download the files
2 - unzip them filed in a non-bootable disk is.
3 - restart the computer with the disk in.
    4 - press f12 during startup.
5 - nothing happened, the system asks me remove the disk, but nothing is updated.

    Thanks for your help.

    Hello

I found this statement to update the Toshiba BIOS for this series of portable:
1 extract the zip file containing the BIOS upgrade to a formatted floppy disk (please see note below regarding the type of disk to use).
    2. make sure that the laptop is plugged into the sector.
    3. turn off the laptop.
    4. turn on the laptop with the F12 key. Press and hold until a short beep can be heard.
    5. the message "ready for the update of the BIOS. Place the BIOS update floppy in the drive and press any key when you are ready to move forward"will appear.
    6. place the floppy disk containing the BIOS upgrade in the floppy drive and press a key. FDD access will begin.
    7. When prompted by the message: "Please push the RESET switch (or turn the AC OFF power off / WE) to restart" remove the disk and press the RESET switch (if available) or turn the system off and turn it on again to restart the laptop.

But note; Update the BIOS is always risky! If your laptop works ok, then update the BIOS is not really necessary!
