  If you are using XP Home Edition, the built-in Administrator account probably doesn't have a defined password. You can start in safe mode, where this account will be selectable when connecting. It allows to connect and change the password of any other connection.

  To start in safe mode, keep hitting F8 twice a second after turning on the PC until you get the start menu where safe mode is selectable by the up/down arrow keys, and then press ENTER.

  If you are using XP Professional, try to connect using the built-in Administrator account. You don't need to do it in safe mode (although you can if you wish).   Figured it out. Seems the https sites are treated differently in the newer versions of the FF. To the left of the address in the address bar is a key. When I click the button, it asks if I want to remember the password. If I choose to never remember the password, it will then add the site to the exceptions list.

  There is no error message.  As long as you have two accounts with the listed names so there is no problem.

  If there is nothing wrong with the system, then you can go directly to any account chosen by:

  1 click on the Start button and in the search box, type netplwiz

  2 right-click on the shortcut resulting & select run as administrator.

  3 in netplwiz dialog box, check the option "users must enter a user name and password to use this computer". Select the user account Standard that you want to connect automatically by clicking on the account you want to highlight, and then click apply. Enter the password for this user account (when it exists) when you are prompted, or leave blank if there is no password.  Then, return to the dialog netplwiz new & still having that same account selected, uncheck "users must enter a user name and password to use this computer" then click OK.
