Supports the 8830 World Edition GPS functions?

Hi guys.

I am facing some problem GPS. I need to test my app on Simulator for the BB 8830 World edition.

But this Simulator supports the GPS (using JDE 4.5.0). I read the topic on smart phones with GPS from herecapabilities.

The reason for writing this post is: my friend's 8830 world edition and it works at my request.

Then my application detects "no GPS device.

To detect the GPS, using following code:

If (LocationProvider.GetInstance (null) == null) {}

This device has no GPS

} else {}

GPS is ok.

}

Is it really unit no GPS?

What is the best way to detect the GPS features?

Please share with me any source code of example concerning the detection of GPS capabilities.

Thank you guys.

The 8830 supports only "assisted" mode on the Verizon network, which you can't access without EDP information.

See your other thread on the subject, where I answered your question with references to the relevant KB articles.

    If you move to Canada permanently, you will not be able to use only 8830 and use it on Bell or Telus Mobility. Currently, they do not support foreign NSE (electronic serial number). So, you will need to buy a phone that is sold by Bell or Telus Mobility.

  • Unlocking blackBerry Smartphones 8830 World Edition GSM and code provider

    Hello

    I'm a guy unsavvy tech and have an 8830 World Edition phone. Bought this from Auntie Indicom (Vendor ID: 269), a CDMA operator which also provided a GSM SIM for only international roaming. Last month, number portability Mobile came into India, and I went to a GSM provider, Vodafone India. After the transfer of numbers, simply inserted the new Vodafone SIM and the phone and Blackberry services are working well with the new operator. Two questions:

    1. from the Options-> advanced-> SIM card Options, after typing MEPD, I see:

    ID: a large number

    Customization:

    Disabled SIM

    Active network

    Network subset disabled

    Service Provider disabled

    People with reduced mobility

    Does this mean that my Blackberry is locked? If Yes, is it blocked by Vodafone? Given that I have moved the Auntie service provider Vodafone and does not seem to wear the same number on the same phone, aunt locked the phone.

    2. type Alt-EACE, I always see the Vendor ID 269 (Auntie). See also the logo of Auntie initially upwards. Is it possible that I can change the ID of the seller or at least stop getting the start screen for the old vendor? This ID Vendo has something to do with the above-mentioned lock?

    Would be very grateful if some kind soul illuminates.

    Thank you

    There must be something different on a BB WE that allows the use of other SIMs, though always stuck at home carrier. Odd, but your experience proves the theory. I seriously doubt that release will make a difference, but certainly to try I guess.

    I don't know why your BB is as you describe... but, I want to propose the following steps, in order, even if they seem redundant to what you have already tried. However, you want to be careful here. I don't know how you originally got your BB running services on your current operator. All BB services are controlled by the Service books. If a carrier does not natively support a BB model on their network, there are a few things that need to be taken to get these SBs on than non-native BB. If only it had to do, don't go here... you could just wipe out all your services level of BB. But if none of these tricks are required (which would mean that your carrier supports natively your BB model), then you should be safe to go ahead.

    Steps 1 and 2 each should translate into a message to your BB to come:

    (1) registry HRT

    • KB00510 How to register a BlackBerry smartphone with wireless network

    (2) Service reference books

    • KB02830 Send the directories for the BlackBerry Internet Service

    (3) restart to take batt

    • Each time a random strange behavior or slow creeps, the first thing to do is a battery pop reboot. With power ON, remove the hood back and remove the battery. Wait a minute, then replace the battery and cover. Power on and wait patiently through the long reboot - about 5 minutes. See if things return to functioning. Like all computing devices, BB suffers from memory leaks and others... with a hard reboot is the best remedy.

    Maybe it will make a difference. I really do not know about you, to be honest. It's a tricky business, and you can well serve just as well by getting a new BB you get from your carrier... which by the way, you would have at least that the formal support at your disposal channel.

    Good luck!

  • Question of blackBerry Smartphones Sprint 8830 World Edition SIM and possible causes

    I recently bought a Sprint 8830 World Edition as a phone good trip/backup. The device is unlocked, as check by going to Options > Advanced Options > SIM card and then type MEPD. All that it shows people with reduced mobility.

    Here's my problem:

    While in the United States just to test, I inserted a T-mobile SIM card and 8830 research for a GSM network, and after some time, shows "no service". I also tried an AT & T SIM card and 8830 is still searching once and after some time shows 'no service '. I get this because I am in the United States? Is this an indication I'm having a problem in another country, using a local SIM card?

    News of the Bill:

    When the 8830 is out, way back when, I found a comment from someone who says

    "This (8830) is unlocked for GSM networks and probably only GSM networks that are not in the same region as Sprint networks (roaming on AT & T and T-Mobile in the United States is probably also out of the question).

    Yes and of course while out of the country, need you the SIM card by the local carrier and a data Plan of BlackBerry by the carrier, if you plan to use data, email, etc.

  • BlackBerry smartphones upgrade to version 4.5 on the Verizon 8830 World Edition network

    As I understand it, Verizon doesn't support or offer version 4.5 on the Blackberry 8830 and I tried to auto update directly from the "Update your device software" page of Blackberry and get an error message "an error occurred when connecting to the service. Please check your internet connection. »

    Someone at - it no work around for this problem and or a way to install 4.5 on an 8830.

    Thank you

    You can find the beta on the internet and install those. Keep in mind, if anything happens, Verizon will not help you. So, to do this at your own risk. I installed a beta version and loved it, except that it was extremely slow and I have too many commercial e-mail among other things to have a slow BB. I'm hoping to find the real for 8830 someday. But for now, theres nothing you can do.

    I found the article of Blackberry - Document ID KB20496 which makes it appear as if this can be changed since the end of the customer.

  • BlackBerry 8830 World Edition Smartphones accepting not SIM

    I had posted on February 28, 2009 on a trip outside the United States in Asia and the use of my 8830 here and was informed the phone is unlocked and would accept a SIM card. However, I tried to insert the SIM card in the slot that matches that I had (there are two slots Im assuming one if, for a multimedia card) and it doesn't seem to work. I used the SIM card in another phone (not Blackberry) and it seems to work so its must be the BlackBerry.

    I have to do something before I insert the SIM card for it to work? Or y at - it another way to solve this problem?

    Thanks for your help.

    SAL

    PS I'm in India so that relates to the answer or help.

    Go to Options-> advanced-> SIM card Options.  Here to ensure what he says "SIM Card: security disabled.

    If it is not the case, you should contact your provider and tell them you want to have security disabled for SIM card.  This will allow you to use SIM cards (for example those paid in advance) on your Berry.

    P.S. I have a VZW/Vodafone SIM (it's free) from the service overall assistance and after that I got this SIM card installed on my phone, I had to call and have the security-disabled.

    Good luck

  • BlackBerry Smartphones 8830 world edition - problems with SMS text messaging

    Every now and then my phone randomly deletes my journal of history and appeal of texting. The only thing left in my folder of messages are emails I've sent or received. I can still send text messages, but I can't receive them, and then all of a sudden everything will be back to normal. I checked my media card and I still have 1.7 GB free space again so I don't think that it is a memory problem.

    Anyone know what is happening?

    Will be

    The items that you have saved on the media card do not count for the memory of the device. You can check the device memory by going to Options | Status and take note of your free file number. Then reset the unit by removing the battery and 1 min and replace it and let the device restarts. After that he did check and see if your free file number has increased.

    Also do you have a lot of third party applications on the device that you don't need? If so you can do in the Options | Advanced options | Applications and delete those you no longer need.

  • StageWebView - does not support links in the app world

    Anyone who has ideas on how to get StageWebView in your game supporting type links "http://appworld.blackberry.com/webstore/content/xxxxx"?

    If you click on one of these links in your html from an instance of StageWebView it reports:

    «Error: the browser doesn't know how to handle web page.»

    This is still part of my quest to provide an easy way to update/display for PlayBook users my other games that are available.  It would be so easy if there was a simple way to open a page of the seller in the app world app of your game.  No really good luck so far.  The idea of StageWebView was great, until I discovered it's the inability to manage the links of appworld.

    OK, so here is how I solved this now:

    private function openAppWorldLink(e:UnknownProtocolEvent):void {
        moreGamesWebView.stop();
        openURL(e.url);
    }

    I add an event listener to the QNXStageWebView to a UnknownProtocolEvent instance.  Who is fired off the power as soon as you click on the link "http://appworld.blackberry.com/blah/blah".

    You can see that I don't then stop any additional load (I did because otherwise you see 'ERROR' screen for a bit, and I thought that ugly).

    I then enter the url of the event and open it upwards (this is just a custom function that basically a call navigateToURL on the url string.

    It works great even if you do not see the error screens, it opens to the top of the page of game in appworld and I can update my html page customized each games change/update.

    Thanks for your suggestion to consider the QNX events!

  • Backup to restore the World Edition on Storm blackBerry Smartphones

    Currently have World Edition and I am considering a storm but do not want to lose the emails I sent and received via a server I don't have access to.  Can I restore the backup of the global edition on the storm so I have access to old emails?

    Yes. Perform a full backup of your 8830 using the Desktop Manager.

    Then, with two devices in hand, you can use DM > Assistant device switch to move all the data from one to the other.

    And then, if necessary, you have the backup of the old 8830 if you need to do a manual restore the storm.

  • SMS sending/Editing and functions copy paste text supported in Firefox OS?

    Couldn't find options to send SMS or change text messages, neither could find the options copy paste general text. More importantly, in the dial pad, the cursor cannot move to the location you want to add numbers. Am I wrong? If yes how to do these things?

    Dial pad is an excellent suggestion! You must file a bug for it by going to https://bugzilla.mozilla.com

    Regarding text editing, would be only considered the problem of copy / paste? We currently do not support the copy and paste, but obviously, that will come in the future.

    Hello

    Your PC should be able to support the NVIDIA GTX 750.  Generally the NVIDIA GTX 750 with a few exceptions only requires a 300 Watt power supply.

    HP 460 watt power supply has a PCI-E power connector 6 pin.

  • Function editor does not support the pointer to the digital type

    Am I missing something or is it true that the CVI function Panel Editor does not support specifying a type parameter as a pointer of type number?

    I see no reason why he wouldn't or shouldn't.  It supports the pointer to char.  And it supports a table name (which, in C, is a pointer to the first element of the array).

    I guess I could use the array form as a pointer, but surely it's confusing when dealing with a simple pointer to a numeric scalar type.

    I am using the function Panel Editor only for the purpose of creating a dictionary of type so I can call functions DLL in VB.  Y at - he know somewhere how CVI types could are mapped to the VB types when you use the type dictionary?   for example, what happens if I use an unsigned int in a function parameter (VB does not support unsigned integers)?

    Menchar

    Hi Menchar,

    To create a pointer to an integer as a parameter to a function panel, you have two different options.

    First of all, all output parameters are defined as the default pointers.  So if you create an output parameter of type "int", he creates a ' int *' parameter.

    Second, if you want it to appear in the entry list, you can create a data type in CVI which will appear at the bottom of the list.  Data types to change your data types, go to the Options"(you must have a function Editor tab open and selected Panel to make this option available).  Enter the name of the type (in this case ' int * ') and click the Add button.  The new "int *" option should now appear at the bottom of the list.

    Third, you can use the array form (int []), but as you say, which can be confusing for other people looking at the code.  Or the other of the two first options are better choices.

    As for your second question, here's a link to a page MSDN showing types in Visual Basic and their representations .NET: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/47zceaw7 (VS.80) .aspx.  This allows to make a comparison between VB and ANSI C data types.  For example, to ask on unsigned integers, and this site shows that Visual Basic has an Integer type (-2,147,483,648 through 2,147,483,64) and an unsigned return, UInteger (between 0 and 4 294 967 295).  From what I can tell, VB has signed versions of all its digital representations.  You can then take this with a list of ANSI C data types to convert between the two.  A list of ANSI C data types can be found here: http://www.exforsys.com/tutorials/c-language/c-programming-language-data-types.html

  • Your smart phone BlackBerry Smartphones does not have system requirements that are needed to support the BB App World

I have a brand new phone has so first question... I can update App World on Wi - FI. or should I do my first phone company data Plan? • Smart phone BlackBerry Smartphones does not meet the system requirements that are needed to support Blackberry App World

    Hello

    I just all new BB Curve 8900 on Vodafone. Its the first BB I've owned and I seem to have a bit of trouble. When I try to download the App World, I get the following error message:

    "Device does not meet the system requirements that are needed to support Blackberry App World"

    How can this be?

    OK then... interesting for Vodafone to push support far... Well, by I guess.

    So I guess that I change their instructions... rather than to remove an installed version of the AppWorld in the way they suggest, I suggest go to:

    Homescreen > Options > Advanced Options > Applications

    See if BB AppWorld is listed as installed. If so, highlight (but do not click) it and then press the BBKey and select Delete. If she wasn't there, then continue on these steps.

    Then do a batt pull reboot:

    With power ON, remove the hood back and remove the battery. Wait a minute, then replace the battery and cover. Power on and wait patiently through the long reboot - about 5 minutes.

    Then re - activate your THS:

    Homescreen > Options > Advanced Options > host Routing Table > BBKey > sign up now

    Then re - send all the service books:

    http://www.BlackBerry.com/BTSC/microsites/search.do?cmd=displayKC&docType=kc&externalId=KB02830&SLIC...

    Then do another reboot batt-pop.

    Then, get a new link for AppWorld from here:

    http://NA.BlackBerry.com/eng/services/appworld/download.jsp#tab_tab_download

    And re - download and install it.

    I hope it's going to go right. If not, then it could still be useful a call to Vodafone...

    See you soon!
