BlackBerry Smartphones unlock the 8830 World Edition for use in Asia and the Canada

I have the BB8830, World Edition. I will leave the United States and will be in Asia and then in the Canada. I tried searching and found a few messages that guided me through unlocking phone, but it didn't work. Could someone help me with this task? Specifically, I see the 5 display UNKNOWN options and I checked for a SIM card in the BB, but it is not a, and the device is

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

SAL

If you move to Canada permanently, you will not be able to use only 8830 and use it on Bell or Telus Mobility. Currently, they do not support foreign NSE (electronic serial number). So, you will need to buy a phone that is sold by Bell or Telus Mobility.

I'm going to England in a month and I would use my Verizon 8830.  Verizon wants to sell me a $30 SIM card and charge me $1.29 / minute.  Can unlock it for that I use a UK bought SIM?

Thanks for all the info.  Here's what I found out from Verizon.  To unlock the phone, you must call the global group of Services (888-844-0395) and tell them you want to unlock your phone.  To unlock it, you must have a SIM card.  Interestingly, they'll send me a free, after that I was told that it will cost $30 in my local store.  When you call, they will give you an unlock code.  Here's how to use it:

1 turn off all wireless connections (manage connections - disable all connections)
    2. go to Options
    3. Select Advanced Options
    4. Select SIM card
    5. tap on menu select show keybord
    6. Enter mepd (you will not be able to see the typed info)
    7. type mep2
    8. now it will say enter network mep code
    9. Enter the code given to you by Verizon

    10. turn off the power and remove the battery to reset

11 re - enable wireless connections

I should have my SIM on Thursday and I will he give a try.

  • BlackBerry Smartphones unlock my phone to allow for the transfer of the network

    Hello

I'm trying to transfer between networks.  My old network (t-mobile) have cancelled my account and I received my new SIM from my new network (3).  The problem is that my phone does not accept my new sim card because I need a subsidy PIN to unlock my t-mobile blackberry.  I got in touch with them, but the account is now canceled they no longer can give me the required pin code.  Instead, they asked me to contact blackberry directly to get the phone unlocked.  Can you help me?

    Thank you

BlackBerry is not open devices. Your carrier can do it for free, or you can buy an unlock code low cost.

  • BlackBerry smartphones buy BB Bold in Europe for use in the United States!

    Hello

I would buy the blackberry "BOLD" for my sister

She lived in California for more than a year and it will be my gift

So I want to be sure that the blackberry that I will buy in Europe (Belgium) will be usable in California.

I mean that the mobile phone must be free of the operator (it may choose between verizon, tmobile, at & t, etc...) and can use their SIM card, as well as the connection 3 G/Edge out there.

    Thank you

    Kind regards.

As long as the "BOLD" is not unlocked, he should be able to be used on any GSM network.

  • Unlocking blackBerry Smartphones 8830 World Edition GSM and code provider

    Hello

I'm a guy unsavvy tech and have an 8830 World Edition phone. Bought this from Auntie Indicom (Vendor ID: 269), a CDMA operator which also provided a GSM SIM for only international roaming. Last month, number portability Mobile came into India, and I went to a GSM provider, Vodafone India. After the transfer of numbers, simply inserted the new Vodafone SIM and the phone and Blackberry services are working well with the new operator. Two questions:

    1. from the Options-> advanced-> SIM card Options, after typing MEPD, I see:

    ID: a large number

    Customization:

    Disabled SIM

    Active network

    Network subset disabled

    Service Provider disabled

    People with reduced mobility

Does this mean that my Blackberry is locked? If Yes, is it blocked by Vodafone? Given that I have moved the Auntie service provider Vodafone and does not seem to wear the same number on the same phone, aunt locked the phone.

    2. type Alt-EACE, I always see the Vendor ID 269 (Auntie). See also the logo of Auntie initially upwards. Is it possible that I can change the ID of the seller or at least stop getting the start screen for the old vendor? This ID Vendo has something to do with the above-mentioned lock?

Would be very grateful if some kind soul illuminates.

    Thank you

There must be something different on a BB WE that allows the use of other SIMs, though always stuck at home carrier. Odd, but your experience proves the theory. I seriously doubt that release will make a difference, but certainly to try I guess.

I don't know why your BB is as you describe... but, I want to propose the following steps, in order, even if they seem redundant to what you have already tried. However, you want to be careful here. I don't know how you originally got your BB running services on your current operator. All BB services are controlled by the Service books. If a carrier does not natively support a BB model on their network, there are a few things that need to be taken to get these SBs on than non-native BB. If only it had to do, don't go here... you could just wipe out all your services level of BB. But if none of these tricks are required (which would mean that your carrier supports natively your BB model), then you should be safe to go ahead.

Steps 1 and 2 each should translate into a message to your BB to come:

    (1) registry HRT

    • KB00510 How to register a BlackBerry smartphone with wireless network

    (2) Service reference books

    • KB02830 Send the directories for the BlackBerry Internet Service

    (3) restart to take batt

    • Each time a random strange behavior or slow creeps, the first thing to do is a battery pop reboot. With power ON, remove the hood back and remove the battery. Wait a minute, then replace the battery and cover. Power on and wait patiently through the long reboot - about 5 minutes. See if things return to functioning. Like all computing devices, BB suffers from memory leaks and others... with a hard reboot is the best remedy.

Maybe it will make a difference. I really do not know about you, to be honest. It's a tricky business, and you can well serve just as well by getting a new BB you get from your carrier... which by the way, you would have at least that the formal support at your disposal channel.

    Good luck!

  • Question of blackBerry Smartphones Sprint 8830 World Edition SIM and possible causes

I recently bought a Sprint 8830 World Edition as a phone good trip/backup. The device is unlocked, as check by going to Options > Advanced Options > SIM card and then type MEPD. All that it shows people with reduced mobility.

    Here's my problem:

While in the United States just to test, I inserted a T-mobile SIM card and 8830 research for a GSM network, and after some time, shows "no service". I also tried an AT & T SIM card and 8830 is still searching once and after some time shows 'no service '. I get this because I am in the United States? Is this an indication I'm having a problem in another country, using a local SIM card?

    News of the Bill:

When the 8830 is out, way back when, I found a comment from someone who says

"This (8830) is unlocked for GSM networks and probably only GSM networks that are not in the same region as Sprint networks (roaming on AT & T and T-Mobile in the United States is probably also out of the question).

Yes and of course while out of the country, need you the SIM card by the local carrier and a data Plan of BlackBerry by the carrier, if you plan to use data, email, etc.

  • Supports the 8830 World Edition GPS functions?

    Hi guys.

I am facing some problem GPS. I need to test my app on Simulator for the BB 8830 World edition.

But this Simulator supports the GPS (using JDE 4.5.0). I read the topic on smart phones with GPS from herecapabilities.

The reason for writing this post is: my friend's 8830 world edition and it works at my request.

Then my application detects "no GPS device.

To detect the GPS, using following code:

    If (LocationProvider.GetInstance (null) == null) {}

    This device has no GPS

    } else {}

    GPS is ok.

    }

Is it really unit no GPS?

What is the best way to detect the GPS features?

Please share with me any source code of example concerning the detection of GPS capabilities.

    Thank you guys.

The 8830 supports only "assisted" mode on the Verizon network, which you can't access without EDP information.

See your other thread on the subject, where I answered your question with references to the relevant KB articles.

  • BlackBerry 8830 World Edition Smartphones accepting not SIM

I had posted on February 28, 2009 on a trip outside the United States in Asia and the use of my 8830 here and was informed the phone is unlocked and would accept a SIM card. However, I tried to insert the SIM card in the slot that matches that I had (there are two slots Im assuming one if, for a multimedia card) and it doesn't seem to work. I used the SIM card in another phone (not Blackberry) and it seems to work so its must be the BlackBerry.

I have to do something before I insert the SIM card for it to work? Or y at - it another way to solve this problem?

    Thanks for your help.

    SAL

PS I'm in India so that relates to the answer or help.

Go to Options-> advanced-> SIM card Options.  Here to ensure what he says "SIM Card: security disabled.

If it is not the case, you should contact your provider and tell them you want to have security disabled for SIM card.  This will allow you to use SIM cards (for example those paid in advance) on your Berry.

P.S. I have a VZW/Vodafone SIM (it's free) from the service overall assistance and after that I got this SIM card installed on my phone, I had to call and have the security-disabled.

    Good luck

  • BlackBerry Smartphones updated BB App world... and lost all the apps?

I had to make an exchange of phones last week.  Did this and reinstalled several applications on the new phone. Finally I was told had to do an update of the BB App world... Done this, and they are all gone now.  They are not under the uninstalled or other devices tab.  Help!

    Thanks in advance!

    Hello!

I suggest that you clear the cache of the AppWorld application:

    1. open the App World

    2. go to my world

    3. follow one (and only one!) of these steps:

    3. for the BB keyboard-oriented - hold down the ALT key and press on, in the sequence R, then S, then T

3B. for touch screen only BBs - hold the num-lock (! 123 button) so that it hangs and then press on, in the sequence 3, then 4, then)

    3 c for the most recent (e, g., OS6 and 7) BB s, see this KB:

    • KB24714 How to clear the cache of BlackBerry App World

    4 AppWorld must close

    5. If your BB locks after issuing clear cache, do a battery pull reboot

    6. return to AppWorld/MyWorld (it can be slow, while it re - sync).

If (4) stage arrives not as described, then the empty the cache failed.

I hope it'll work for you! Good luck and let us know!

  • Software blackBerry Smartphones after the peripheral upgrade to 4.5.0.175 on my 8830, my browser is missing

Yesterday, I upgraded my BB device and desktop software.  I upgraded to 4.5.0.175 (Platform 3.4.0.55) on my 8830 and now my browser icon is missing.  When I opened the application loader, "browser" is located in the lighter text and if I check or uncheck the box the software tells me that no change is necessary.

How to bring back my browser?

On your BlackBerry device, go to:

    1. options > advanced > host Routing Table > Menu > register.

2 send your service from your carrier's BIS site books:
    Of your handheld: http://www.blackberry.com/btsc/KB15402

Go to the Personal Email Set Up icon and sign. Then under help!, select Service books and select send service books.

    Your desktop PC: http://www.blackberry.com/btsc/KB02830
North American carriers - scroll down to select your carrier
Carriers worldwide - find your operator from the list

    3. with the BlackBerry device powered time, remove battery for a few seconds and then reinsert the battery to restart. This restart, even if you have already done this, is often necessary to install the service books.

  • BlackBerry Smartphones Can I retrieve contact information for a database without the BlackBerry

This is my story - a couple of weeks, I dropped my 8130 Pearl in a large cup of water. After miraculously, he came back to life, I decided that it was time to SAVE my contact... information so I used the version of the office for 4.3.0.17 Manager do... Only, I clicked on "Addresses", which I guess means contacts. I joke that my poor BlackBerry not - the VERY NEXT DAY, went into the pool with me. Now, despite the fact that I just mentioned after swimming, I actually do not lead a lavish lifestyle... I live in the desert, and I had to enter my poor toddler, overheated in the pool as soon as possible. I have no cell phone insurance, but I don't have the $50 deductible to get a new BlackBerry. Now I use a Casio g opportunity ' Boulder area. I had so much contact info, I need. So, here is my question. Is there a way to convert information database (IPD file) I saved in a word document, or other legible form so I can get all my contacts?

    Thank you in advance,

Crystal, Hello and welcome to the Forums of Support BlackBerry.com.

Yes, google search for ABC Amber IPD Converter and use it. It is not free, but the trial software will manage a limited number of records.

If you end up having a new BlackBerry, you can restore this backup IPD file on your new device.

  • BlackBerry smartphones RECEIVES the MAILS to FOLDERS other than Inbox

    Hello world

I have this problem that I'm trying to work around. On my yahoo mail, I've created rules for certain categories of emails coming. These rules to move messages that meet the criteria for folders that I created.

Now I have yahoo mail configured on my blackbery device but not to receive emails from other folders. All I get is emails that appear in my main Inbox folder.

Through the settings on my phone and can't find an option or a setting that can help me solve this problem.

    Ideas anyone?

    * I'm using BIS service

    Hello

using BIS, it's the processing order:
    1 your Y! mail server receives e-mails
2 your Y! mail server applies the rules
3 your Y! mail server sends messages from the Inbox to your server of BIS
4 your BIS server sends the emails to your BlackBerry smartphone

Therefore, there is no way to do what you want using Yahoo!.

I can suggest you see if it is possible to have the rules applied subsequently (I don't think it's possible with the electronic mail of Yahoo!).

If you want to automatically move messages into folders and have them on your device, you must use an e-mail provider that allows it. To this day, I know Microsoft Exchange can (in a corporate environment) and Google Mail (because the records are considered labels).
