Surface barcode reader

I looked if and how the Surface can read bar codes using the camera on the device itself. If someone could link me to any of the information that would be wonderful. I saw a few other devices to plug into the surface, but I'm more interested in using the instrument to Surface itself to use as a bar code scanner.

Thank you

Press the store icon (it looks like a bag with the logo of Msoft) on the start screen.

When the application opens, tap the magnifying glass icon on your keyboard or by scanning from the right edge of the Tablet Surface and press the magnifying glass icon there.

as said DDIP simply type the word "bar code".

You must contact the manufacturer of the barcode reader and ask for documentation on TCP communication. Otherwise, the best you could do is to use a tool like WireShark to 'sniff' the TCP data and try to understand what the scanner data is read/write at their own software and try to reproduce it.

There are many manufacturers/types of barcode scanners - some have their own drivers (DLL, for example) you can call, some use Ethernet/RS-232, some simply to emulate a keyboard and "type" characters of the barcode.

  • problem with pdf on surface RT reader

    Hello

I tried to open a file in the Surface RT pdf reader provided by microsoft. I was able to open the file, but only the place came on the screen instead of character. I tried to print this file of surface and same printer print square instead of character.
Any suggestion to change the settings?
    Thank you

Sorry, I don't know any player settings that might help.

You can try using another PDF reader (there are few in the Windows store) - or try to open the PDF file in Word.

  • In the development of Webworks barcode reader

    Hi all

Is there any API to scan bar code in development webworks for 10 BlackBerry and BlackBerry OS 7 or an earlier version?

    Where to find it?

  • Surface RT read .mov and .wmv files

My RT Surface, largely healed a litany of problems that I posted previously, still has a problem I forgot to mention before: the native video app or app PressPlay play all my .mov and .wmv files. No problems with mp4s; they play very well.

Is this just a limitation of Windows RT or a particular problem with my device? I recently did a clean reinstall, and the problem persists, just like before. The files in question are stored on the MicroSD card.

Looks like that you could have a site in Flash that is not in the Whitelist of websites in Flash and tested Microsoft. Web sites must apply, as explained on this link (which also explains why there is a white list):

I use the Eclipse plugin for Blackberry. In fact, the code is in the library that you downloaded.

But lets take it from the beginning.

1 download Blackberry plugin for Eclipse

    2 download the zxing http://code.google.com/p/zxing/downloads/list 1.4 library

3 take the files src of the rim and the core of the zxing library files after unzip and insert them into your Blackberry project src folder.

Run the Simulator and scan a barcode image!

That's all. If you have any questions please ask!

  • Bar code printed with Adobe Reader XI can be recognized by bar code reader

    Dear support,

We generate barcodes and convert it into pdf file using Crystal Report for .NET Framework 2.0

The pdf file opens with Adobe reader XI / FoxitReader 4.3.1. It is printed with Avery Dennison AP 5.4 300 dpi.

When the pdf file is printed with Adobe reader XI, the barcode can be read with the code reader barcode, but when it is printed with FoxitReader 4.3.1 barcode can be read with the barcode reader.

I compared the two codes barcode printed and found Adobe printed the thicker lines and larger characters. Thus, two lines pasted together and become a 1 line. As a result, it can be recognized by bar code reader.

Could you explain why this happen and how to solve this problem in Adobe? Are there settings I can change to fix?

    Thank you very much.

Operating system: Windows Xp or Windows 7

Application: Adobe reader XI or FoxitReader 4.3.1

I printed the label using Adobe Reader 11.0.06 and the bar code looks like absolutely perfect:

I have also no problem scanning that bar code printed; It reads 00000000110001900631.

So, in the end, I don't know what the cause of your side.  Can you try to print as Image (Advanced on printing Panel button)?

  • Zero went from field when using barcodes

I have a form that contains a text field for the last 4 digits of SSN sound.  If the SSN is 0123, the barcode reads 123.  Is there a way to capture the SSN and if there are zeros, then to replace the zeros in the barcode?

    Thank you

If you use a calculation script customized for the barcode field, you can fix the code that sets the value of the field bar code. If you use the preconfigured to code delimited by tabs, for example, change the following line:

    strValues += oParam.oDoc.getField (strFieldName) .value;

    to do this:

    strValues += oParam.oDoc.getField (strFieldName) .valueAsString;

  • Integration of barcode asset management and LR

I discovered to my delight that you can integrate Lightroom and asset print barcode-based management. It is a way of:

    1. automate label printing for images without no regeneration of the keys to the information, and
    2. automate the process of finding the image of which a copy has been made

Why do? You can sell prints or make just for your pleasure. It is advisable to provide some labeling of the draws for you (or buyer) know what they're looking at. It may be useful to be able to quickly find the source of the print image. Of course, you can simply include the name on the label and type it to find the source image. But produced labels look a bit messy with an arbitrary filename sometimes stuck in there. One option is to include a barcode neat on the label. You can then use your webcam to read the label and directly insert the file name in the search field of LR. Presto! To the top appears the image, where the print was made.

Warning: My apologies to Mac users, I only discovered this on a PC. I'm sure there are substitutes for each of the things that I used.

What you need to do this [PC]:

    • Lightroom (LOL)
    • LR/carrier (very useful for many things)
    • Excel (optional, but part of my workflow)
    • A way to print labels with barcodes. I use a cheap Brother which comes with the P-Touch editor printer.
    • A webcam
    • Webcam barcode reader software. I use bcWebCam which is free

    How to:

I'm going to sketch out how I do with specific gear I have and then suggest how you can get in with the other gear.

    Simple workflow:

    1. Implement the LR/carrier to export a summary file of the image export, which includes all of the fields you want on your label (including of course the file name). Format of comma-delimited CSV file with a header row to set the exported fields. It is saved and reused as a preset for export. Routlinely that I can then select the images I am printing and export them to a dummy folder that I use for the purpose of transferring Image information.
    2. I use my label printer with a model that merges the data from the CSV file on a label with the name of the file printed as a QR barcode. Generally, I put a label directly on the opposite impression, and in the box, the other at the rear of the chassis. With impressions of high quality art, I do only the latter in order to avoid any possibility of problems with fading the obverse of paper glue. Here is an example.LabelExample.jpg
    3. Having already installed bcWebCam, if I need to find an image that needs a bit of a search (probably only if I have not worked on it recently), I load bcWebCam while LR is running, place my mouse cursor in the search field in the library view (after you have selected the root of my catalog) and hold the label print in front of the webcam. Presto! bcWebCam inserts the file name in the search field and the image in LR!

Actually, I use excel as an intermediary to read LR/carrier data and reformat elements. One of the reasons is the information exported by LR/carrier GPS has some weird characters in it and they need to be cleaned. Characters with accents or umlauts also need special treatment. Excel also allows me to define how each label I want to print... The label printer software reads the file excel as a database and allows the printing of the required number of labels.

If you are interested in this solution, you are likely to have dozens or hundreds of thousands of images in which case camera generated file names is not unique. I add a month and year in the import and conversion to DNG in LR to ensure that file names are unique. There are a range of other alternatives that may suit your workflow better. But don't forget, you need something that LR is located in a single search. It may be you create an ID unique in a field EXIF or IPTC - this also works...  Some smart rabbit can point on for me there is some infallible automatic unique identifier for each image in LR can be viewed and exported, but I'm not aware of it. I guess that time (to the second) imaging is pretty close, but I do not see how to find a search field entry on this...

Where you may need to find workarounds:

If you're on a PC, the only thing that is not available on the net is the barcode label printer. In the past, I used to print labels on sheets of multiple labels with a laser printer. It is not obvious to me how to translate the unique identifier of image in a barcode for this approach, but I don't know there will be an out there. But I came to the conclusion that a dedicated "we demand" label printer would save a huge amount of messing around. I think the brother model I use is about US$ 79, which isn't exactly breaking any bank. And the continuous paper roll that I use means labels end up about 2.5 cents a noise...  What makes this or even the most capable models (with auto-couteaux) such a lot is the P-touch software that fact all the sequence database to the field labels and bar code information. Worth the price alone, I think. There are other free and paid webcam barcode there readers too; I noticed that works for me...

This may seem rather complex to implement. But the reality is, once the export, print templates and database are in place, it's all automatic.

    Hello

    Great use of LR/carrier

Strange characters is the fact that LR/carrier produced files with a UTF-8 encoding.  You must be able to read as well as see them.  Most applications can read UTF - 8 these days.
