• X100e suspended and gel on Wireless

  There was another thread dealing with freezing and hanging connected via ethernet; However, I had ethernet disabled from BIOS from the first day of the receipt of my system, but I found my system to be locked up very often especially when connected to the Wi - Fi connection at Purdue University.

  For reference: the Purdue University wireless network using WPA-Enterprise with PEAP + Thawte security certificate.

  Naturally, I got the latest BIOS (1.25) and had all the updates that are available from ThinkVantage System Update, but appears not to help any - when I was watching on my university network, it would all just hang and freeze completely every 30 minutes or so, forcing me to restart the system.  It seems to freeze regardless of whether or not I was even almost anything on the internet.

  It doesn't seem to be any serious question on my home network, however, which uses WPA2-Personal, but I don't really use my x100e home enough to say with certainty.

  I was quite convinced that there is some kind of problem with either the wireless network card drivers or some sort of power saving at this point, so I uninstalled the Lenovo x100e wireless drivers and got the latest drivers for the chipset RTL8192SE directly to go to RealTek and install them.

  Then, I went and disabled "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" for the Device Manager wireless card.  Also, I put the adapter wireless for 'Maximum Performance' and disabled the power management PCI Express link state since the power manager.  I also disabled idle timers to stop watch system hibernation and rotation of the hard drive.

  Now after this small set of actions that seems to me to be more or less surf and download things stably on my university network.  I must point out that the system still crashes every now and then while I'm browsing around.  I note no particular to this hanging trend; It just happens when I open a browser and navigate normally - it hangs for about 40 seconds (I can move my mouse but nothing you will only answer) then it simply returns a normal operation.

  Hmm so oddly my freezing problems seem to be fixed right now with my new last installation of Windows 7 x 64.

  I didn't really do much of anything special this time and more do not install all the stuff of ThinkVantage. (with the exception of Power Manager)

  On installs previous I simply let Lenovo System Update everything, but this time I went here and downloaded all the drivers for Win7 x 64 manually: http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/MIGR-74463.html

  Including "Windows Installer supplements" which were applicable to Windows 7.

  The only driver I was not installed from Lenovo page this time was the catalyst which has a much more updated version of AMD.  I usually install the drivers of both ReakTek 8192SE but this time, I installed the drivers Lenovo wireless.

  Now my hanging/freezing problems have mysteriously.  The only thing that never happens now is when I have to leave as an hour with the lid down, I think it's blue armored, but I've not seen any suspension or gel during a use for some time.

  Wireless performance/reception seems to be as crappy as always with the RealTek card... in my University in places where all other DELL, HP, Acer, laptop computer shit etc can connect correctly I get disconnected every 10 seconds...

  Thanks for the reply and the link to the article. I appreciate it. While I was not having trouble to download updates, it was one of the update of the files froze during installation. I had gel resulting set before your answer.

  I'm not sure what I did to fix it, but the installed annoying file itself. Here are the steps I took to learn that annoying file has been installed:

  When I suspend and resume my comments on VMware Workstation 12 Pro systems, using the command "vmrun suspend", my system very fast host (Kubuntu 15.10) suffers from a terrible performance issue after standby.  Graphic files, such as photos, now take 20 seconds to display on the host system to the place instantly. Here is an example of command that shows the problem to a 2.5 MB JPEG file on my host system.

  Other graphics software become even slow on display: geeqie, eog, etc.. However, the cp command is always instantaneous for the same file, so the problem does not seem to be related to the disk:

  The problem remains until I have suspend the VMs system again (or stop).  If I take it back once again, the problem sometimes returns immediately. Other times it comes back after a few hours or a few days. (The problem is intermittent, but suspending the VMs always makes the problem go away.)

  If the graphic file is small, it displays quickly.  The slowdown is proportional to the size of the graphics file.

  When I run a strace of the 'View' command, I see that the delays are produce for the read() of the image file. No errors appear in/var/log when the behavior occurs.

  I suspend the VMs every night automatically (vmrun suspend) before that cron runs a backup of the entire system (using rsync). Then I have them back manually in the morning when I wake up. Sometimes, the problem is present and sometimes not.

  Two virtual machines use shared folders to access the host system.

  The problem started after upgrading my host of Kubuntu 14.04 15.10 LTS, and VMware Workstation version 10 to version 12. (Both at the same time.)

• No Audio on Win7 x 64 or Linux I suspend and resume (so this works)

  Well... this problem is * very * strange.

  Basically, I bought this laptop a L665D-S5076, everything works well so far. Except for the sound.

  At the moment I opened it upward, I started in windows and update the BIOS, everything worked well (no sound)...

  I rebooted to verify that the BIOS update worked (I've updated because I saw before I have bought... changes of interest that have been made).

  Then I wanted to install Linux (more precisely ArchLinux), being that I only use Windows for games. For everything else, Linux is much better at it.

  I wiped the entire hard drive (the entire partition table), installed Windows 7 x 64 bit on a disc, I had to hang out... Note that I deleted the recovery partition and all other partitions unwanted who took more space I wanted (and the MS-DOS Master File Table supports only up to 4 primary partitions... and of course, Windows consumes almost all of them).

  So I installed Windows 7... installed Linux... it was all clean, I installed the drivers for Windows... and even on Linux, everything works correctly (surprised - apparently the majority of the chipset seems to be open-source/linux very easy... which is great).

  in any case, I just happened to close my screen and forget about Windows 7 by default to sleep when it's done. It picks up and I suddenly heard my sound work...

  So I restarted and the sound does not work... but suspends to RAM and then return to fix it...

  The _strangest_ thing is that not only this that under Windows, but it also does in Linux. Exactly... even... question...

  This can be closed now.  Blue-screening has been resolved by a system restore when it is possible, via laptop rebuild where not. We believe that the gel error was caused by interfering with Symantec Endpoint 11.x windows updates as soon as we went from MS to 12.x the freeze problem when connected via the wireless stopped.
