SW update and drivers on just bought the laptop of HP 2000

I ran HP Support Assistant to make sure I had all the correct information on my new laptop.

I then went to the HP site and support for my particular PRODUCT NAME and MODEL NUMBER.

The #s verified site, showed me a picture of my machine and then gave me the option for: run the updates one by one on my own OR   HP allow to scan my product and determine which drivers are out of date and must be updated.

After chooising to allow HP to check for me, he told me: "HP could not verify that you have this product, but he has found other products."    I know make and model numbers were right because HP gave them to me.  He said then he did discover 1 product, and it resumed serial numbers and model it JUST said she has been unable to verify.

I then drove on the list of devices and began to install all of them.  After reaching one 3rd, I realized that he was not grateful if it was accepted.  I stil have not figured out how to FIND disappearing screens, so I don't know what happened.

My question is this:

How will I know if I install drivers that are OLDER than those currently on my system?  I don't know how to go to the Device Manager to check the driver or properties.  How do you determine what the system must be present if the HP software is unable to identify even my machine like the one he just checked before 60 seconds?

Another question: is it true that I must move to WIN 8 PRO to be able to DESCEND to Win 7 no later than January 31 for $39.99?  I read that after January 31, the upgrade is $199.99.  Can someone explain what is happening here?

I feel like I just took a flight to Paris and realized that I was in Papua New Guinea. (no offense PNG; you're tall!)   I appreciate any input...    I feel like a retard.

Hi, here is my suggestion on two questions you have and deliver the download of HP drivers/updates.

(1) for the download of the driver:

Please visit www.hp.com/in and click on support & drivers > drivers & software > type the full model of your PC as the 6100 dv6 dv6-3100 etc... Select your computer model (if the list), or model CTO (for example, dv6-6100 CTO) (who works for the series) now select the operating system you are running. you have the list of drivers for your PC.

Here isteh guide that shows how to use HPSA (HP Support Assistant) to update drivers/patches automatically.

(2) downgrade to win7 is allowed if you have win8Pro on a PC. If your PC does not have win8Rro I fear, that you may need to upgrade to win8 pro and downgrade later (check with microsoft for clarity when win8).

I hope this helps, good luck!
