  (5) so I ordered the recovery CD on the Toshiba site. When I start the laptop using the CD, it starts to load Windows. First of all, there are a text loading bar. Then a loading graphic bar. When it is complete the screen becomes black. A cursor appears so (an arrow that you can actually move the button). Then nothing. Simply, the screen stays black with the cursor.

  Someone at - it ideas what the problem with my laptop?

  It is not easy to say what may be the problem. Set the BIOS on the settings by default and to use the recovery disk again.

I see that the Flashplay is listed on my Add / Remove programs in the Control Panel, but it does not when I enter these sites.   Hi td, I do not know what OS you are using or the version of the browser, so I'll just make a guess :-)

  With IE, go to tools > Manage Add ons and find the Shockwave Flash object... ActiveX control... Flash10d.ocx and make sure it's there and activated.

  If the FF, go to plugins and see that the SWF, vs 10.0.42.34 is listed and enabled.

  Also, go to add/remove and check the versions and lists of Java and post this info back. YouTube uses the latest version of Flash Player and the latest version of Java (which since yesterday is JRE 6 update 18)

  The Vista installation disc is a DVD. Apparently, you don't have a DVD player. You would need to purchase/install a DVD-ROM or DVD - RW to install Vista. Are you sure that your hardware supports Vista before doing this?

  Thunderbird ran an auto update yesterday. Then it just stopped working. It does not connect with the Comcast email server. An error message appears "Unable to connect" and "the connection was refused when attempting to contact live.mozilla.messaging.com. I don't want to uninstall and reinstall for fear of losing my emails and address book.   The problem solved itself, Thunderbird has just started working. I followed the thread suggested by Christ1 and found none of it applied. No malware, no browser, no certificate error security block. I did, however, in Thunderbird, under Tools/Options/General uncheck the button for "When Thunderbird launches, show the Start Page in the message box." I do know that if this helped, Thunderbird still do not access Comcast mail for hours after that, even with several stops and restarts.

  Some Firefox problems can be solved by performing a clean reinstall. This means that you remove Firefox program files (not the profile folder, where the bookmarks are stored) and then reinstall Firefox. Please follow these steps:
