  Hello community,

  My ESXI 4.1 hostmachines are configured with virtual standard switches as follows:

  -1 xGbit public - network VMKERNEL management

  -2 x Gbit/active - VMotion + pi (VMKERNEL)

  -2 x Gbit/active - storage NAS (VMKERNEL)

  -2 x Gbit/active - VM LAN

  I want to migrate to a distributed virtual switch, but Ami don't know if it's possible. The problem is I onlyy a uplink public and I can't add the physical NIC as the standard switch and distributed virtual switch. IAM looking for a way to migrate the portgroup & physical uplink NIC in one step. Someone knows how to do this without adding a second NIC uplink? Please keep in mind that my vCenter is a virtual machine on this machine.

• VM with 1 NIC shows a standard portrgoup and a distributed portgroup?

  It's confusing me. I'll put up a distributed switch, and I have all my exchanges set up, each corresponding to the standard portgroup (IE, 1 standard for VLAN 15 portgroup and 1 portgroup distributed to VLAN 15, etc.).

  So I have a win 2008 R2 VM, with 1 NIC and I shut it down and changed is the portgroup to the equivalent distributed portgroup standard networking (e.g., the portgroup distributed for this VLAN). I made this as a dozen times already, for other virtual machines, and it's all worked fine. This time, however, this adds the portgroup distributed, but also leaves the portgroup standard.

  And I don't know why. With 1 card NETWORK, the settings of the virtual machine are showing the NETWORK adapter with a network connection to the distributed portgroup, as it should. Yet the component resources in the watch vSphere client * two * portgroup standard and distributed. All cards that are in the vDs are in LACP mode (we connect to a 6513 Cisco using 10 G of fiber NICs). VDs has 1 NIC of each host, and the standard switch on each host has the other NETWORK card, so I can migrate virtual machines between the two without loss of connectivity.

  I have connectivity, I ping the virtual machine. I see the virtual machine in the distributed portgroup look the vDs. I see it also in the portgroup standard (this standard switch has no adapters, so it can actually do something, do not send/receive). If all the packages must be from the portgroup distributed (as it should).

  Clues about where to look next? I checked the VM, there is only 1 NETWORK card in Windows, no hidden devices NIC so why does he want 2 trade? And how can I say this not to do?

  All ESXi hosts are the ESXI 5.1 U1.

  It is resolved, with the help of Technical Support. This virtual machine has a snapshot, which is why he wanted the portgroup standard and the portgroup distributed. I deleted the snapshot, and now everything's fine.

• Switch Standard virtual Teaming and Failover/Failback w / button batteries

  Small question about Standard virtual switches and nic teaming/failover.

  I have 4 phy cards network connected to a single vSS; two are defined as active adapters (vnic A & B) and two are defined as standby adpaters (vnic C & D). The first two active adapters are connected to a primary switch stack using an etherchannel cross-stack and the two other standby adapters are connected to a driving switch stand-by also using a cross-stack etherchannel. The primary and standby switch stacks are not connected to each other (in a stacking context) but are connected to the same physical network.

  Here's my question - if A nic fails, nic C or D will become active. Let's just for arguments sake adapeter C become active. So B and C card are now involved (for vmware). When C becomes active, the network see B and C adapter as a team even if they are spanning two batteries of different switch - this will create duplicate the network MACs? If Yes, what is the proper way to shift several cross-stack etherchannel teams?

  The physical switch batteries are Cisco Catalyst 3750 s.

  ... why bother you even create etherchannels...

  There may be special use cases where you have a high traffic going out to a lot of targets with different IP addresses. Personally I never used EtherChannel in ESX (i) environment to date.

  With the default strategy, VMware uses a turnstile mechanism, where virtual NETWORK card a VM is assigned to a physical connection when the virtual machine is running. It is usually sufficient to balance traffic. ESXi 4.1 and the appropriate license (required vDS), VMware has introduced a new policy of load after grouping , which can also interesting to look at.

  And, when using an etherchannel, why is-IP-HASH the technique only balancing?

  We're going from the standard virtual switches to virtual switches distributed in the coming months.

  We will use the Cisc00 1000v. The supervisor module runs on hardware, Cisco 1010.

  This is why I generally prefer vDS with LBT, NIOC & SIOC; with this configuration you could use two connections rising 10GbE and be perfectly fine.

  Just use the standard pool and put the secondary 4th uplink for all networks.

  Please download and install Acrobat Standard XI, to download Pro or Standard versions of Acrobat DC, XI or X . Enter the serial number, you even when asked during the installation process.

  Please right-click on any PDF on your system, then go to properties > under general, you will find "opens with". Here you will see 'change' option, by clicking on it, wil give you a window from which you can choose the Acrobat Standard XI as a default for PDF files.

  Do not use the feature distribute the form. Instead of this, just put up a button "submit" and configure it to send email using any email address you want. Just add a button and set the action of the mouse upward on "Submit a form" and use a type mailto URL and specify that you want to send the full PDF. Then activate the reader of the document: where "Advanced/extended features in Adobe Reader" is located in Acrobat XI?

  If you really want to use distribute the form for some reason, change the e-mail address in your preferences: Edit > Preferences > identity > Email address
