Switching to text in an InDesign file done with text in a Word document?

Hello
As I recently started working with InDesign, this question may seem quite silly. I have a finished InDesign file and what I have to do is to replace the text in the InDesign document with the text in a Word document. The text frames must remain in the same places, fonts may be the same, etc., so I just wanted to know how to replace this text in the InDesign document without copy - paste the text in the Word file in each text block. Basically, I have a guide to the user of a device in one language, and I have to insert the translated text that the user guide is in another language. Is it by linking documents?

Yours faithfully,

VerySeriousPerson

It is a way to do it. But you will need to format the new document with paragraph styles.

  1. Open existing document ID
  2. Save as and change the file name (language to translate to?)
  3. Insert the cursor at the beginning of the document
  4. CRLT/SHIFT/END to select all of the text in the document (this is for Windows)
  5. Delete
  6. File/Place the file with the text you want. Make sure that you press SHIFT while placing the file, the text flows to all text frames.
  7. Format the document as you wish

Second step is very important to keep the original file.

    Hi olivias,.

Looks like there may be some confusion on your system which application should be associated with PDF files. You can reset the file name associations by following the steps described in these articles (depending on your operating system):

I have a projector that generates a report of the user at the end of a section of questions and answers. Currently, the report is saved in plain text format. The customer wants to add a text formatting (bold text and color) and join the file to open it in Word when double-clicked.

Does anyone know of a way to save the text of a member of the cast as a Word document?

Use rtf or html put in shape and give it knows what an extension .doc - Word
    do with it.

You can get the rtf or html of a member of text file using member("whatever").rtf or
Member("whatever").html - put in a variable and save it with a xtra
    fileIO, propSave or buddyFile.

I did not have the last Director, so I don't know what the implications of
    Unicode will be.

  • InDesign CS4 crashes when you place the Word document

    Hello

I'm having a real problem by placing a Word document in InDesign CS4. It crashes everytime! I found that if I turn off the 'import inline graphics' it correctly places the document. but enabling this option blocks InDesign.

I tried to save in rich TEXT format and even do a simple copy - paste, but the result is the same: InDesign crashes.

If you have an idea please let me know!

    Thank you

Do you still have a CS3 lying around?

  • why I don't then convert a word document to pdf with the new program I just just buy "PDF Pack"?

Please help me.  Question of as says my.  I come just to buy a Pack of Adobe PDF pour convert my Word documents into pdf pour send them.  It does not work.  Do you have any suggestions?  Thanks Lise

    Hi Hi liseb25468237,.

Ah, I see! This isn't a format supported for conversion. But you can 'print' your Word Perfect for PostScript files and then download the PostScript files for conversion to PDF. Please see this document for instructions: PostScript files create | Pack PDF | Windows

(I noticed that the document refers to the CreatePDF Desktop tool at the bottom - this tool has since taken his retirement.) "But the instructions at the top of the document are still valid).

  • What is a smart method to add text to a Word document

What would you recommend to add text to a document.

I know that the InDesign manual methods.

But my problem is to have the ability to export all the text in a TXT or RTF file. / For the correction of text in Word 2007.

If I pour all of the text in the document automatically, I can easily export.

Disadvantage of flow automatically, it is, that I have to master all of the positions on each page. If I delete something from above, the text will be moved, etc..

I tried export to RTF with Manual chain and it export only the selected frame, nothing more.

    What would you recommend?

No, you're not wrong. To be done in Acrobat Professional.

  • How can I add text to a Word document to an existing PDF which is my letterhead?

I have a paper to header company created to a PDF file.  I want to add text of letters to the letterhead, but don't know how.  Help, please.

    Hi tatestar1,

You would need Acrobat to edit the header of your PDF, or add text to any application used to create the header in the first place and then recreate the PDF file. If you have the source file, then the latter may be easier.

  • How a button can work between 2 indesign files

I am creating a catalog of products and each section has been created in an indesign file, separated with a separate content page that includes the buttons to link to each of the indesign files. When these are added as items to the folio of the function of the buttons do not work. There are buttons in each indesign file that works when then action is to go to another page in the same file, but try the GET them to post a link to other files turns out to be problematic. Does anyone know how this can be achieved.

    Thank you very much

For the record, two additional notes about the navto: link...

    • To access a particular page, use navto:ArticleName #1
    • The number following the ' # ' indicates the page number. HOWEVER, the page numbering starts at zero. for example to link to page 3 of an article, you would use #2
  • Why does my PDF files appear as word documents?

My PDF files are displayed as icons in word document and I don't know why. I can still open them as a PDF file just right click and then go to 'Open with' but I prefer them rather to open as a PDF immediately.

I did some research and most popular answers seems to be to change the association of file by the following steps:
    1. Click Startand then click Control Panel.
    2. Click on Folder Options.
    3. Click the File Types tab in the Folder Options window and complete file types and their association is listed.
    4. Click new and type the file Extension in the box and then click Advanced.
    5. Choose a file type association.
    6. Click OK and then click close.
    7. Open the file again.
But when I go in the "Folder Options" I can't find the 'File Types' tab anywhere! The only options are "General", "view"and"search".
If someone could help me with this problem that would be much appreciated.

The File Types tab exists in Windows XP and earlier and removed from Windows Vista.

You can use the option 'Open with' to change program file associations as Entegy said in addition, you can find this useful link.
  • My Adobe Reader 11 saves all PDF files into Word documents and I know no way

I do a backup as with a PDF file and it saves as a Word document. I have to convert the Word document to a PDF file in a Word document by right click and convert. Why the file record in Word format first?

    Hi Shane,

On the icon of the document itself, right click, select Properties. On the "Général" tab, in "Open with", click the button change, choose the Adobe program, click ok, apply, ok.

  • Convert several Word Documents into several PDF files

Hi, I'm looking for a way to convert several PDF files in word documents. I am running Adobe Acrobat 3D Version 8.1.2. It seems as if will Advanced > Document processing > batch processing and then using the Print sequence All will do, but when I selected word documents I want to turn into PDF files, after I click on "Execute sequence" I get a message in the progress window saying «Start the application in which the file was created...» "then Acrobat stops and nothing happens. Does anyone have any ideas as to why this is happening?

    Thank you!

    Hi "jhaystead"

Apologies to make an erroneous suggestion. "Batch conversion" is a feature of Acrobat 9 or higher.

I would suggest that you use the "Open All" sequence > double-click the Edit > "2. ' Run the command: "choose"Selected folder"and BROWSE to your folder of entry. The same for the '3. Select output location", you can choose"Same folder as Original (s)", click OK, and then click 'run the sequence '.

That invoke the PDFMaker to convert Word to PDF documents and save the PDF (s) in the documents mentioned, instead of printing output and inviting them to record the result every time as Adobe PDF Printer.

Plus, could you please check if menu/toolbar Adobe PDF options are there in Word and works well?

    When you said,

' Is the only way I can get a PDF file produced to manually open each word document, and then save it in the format PDF.» I did have luck with the multiple PDF creation. " Print you documents Word, Adobe PDF or printer using the PDFMaker options?

    Thank you!
