Sync open tabs

I thought that Firefox Sync was supposed to sync open tabs. It doesn't seem to do anything like that, or am I missing something that should be obvious?

I mainly use Firefox on a remote desktop from Windows OS, but the delay in the video is painful so I like réécrirait my native Mac OS. I have Sync set up on both FF so I thought that if I opened my Mac FF so that Windows FF distance was always open to the page I wanted, he would give me this page. This isn't. I tried Syncing before moving, but which did not help either.

So, what's the problem with Firefox Sync regarding tabs? Is it supposed to synchronize my tabs open or not? If so, what should I do to make this happen?

Thank you.

Hello!

I don't know if I understand, but I think that you want to open the same tabs in both of your computers.

Firefox Sync allows you to see the tabs open in different machines, but it does not replicate the updated tab in place.

In order to see the tabs open in another device it just go in "History-> tabs on other computers" or type "subject: sync-tabs" in the address bar. If this page is blank, make sure that you have chosen to share tabs in your Firefox Sync settings. You can do it in the 'Sync' submenu in the menu "Preferences".

I would like to know if this is useful or you are looking for something else.

    Hello

Looking for your labels in the right place?

Firefox sync will not make your tabs open in the other browser, that it gives you just the ability to recover open tabs that have been synced from another computer.

On the menu historical it should be a menu item "Tabs on other computers", if you select a new tab opens to display the sites of other computers.

And Yes, tab groups are taken into account.

    After you set up sync on multiple computers, all using Firefox 4.01, I get a screen showing;

  • Why my thumb nails opened tab is missing?

Samsung Galaxy S3. Until today, I could see a "stack" of thumbnails representing my tabs open when I click the icon 'page' at the top right of the browser window. This would allow me to easily switch from one tab to another. Now, when I click on the 'page' icon, I see only the thumbnail that represents the currently open page. If I scroll to the top in the thumbnail area, I scrolled open tabs. Scrolling down closes the selected tab. I can't Firefox back to the original settings. • How fix oblivion previously opened tabs when Firefox starts by clicking on a link in an external application?

Hello, I have the boot option: "show my windows and tabs from last time" activated. Works fine, except when Firefox starts when I click on a link in an external application (typically Thunderbird). Then, the new link is opened in a new tab, Firefox remembers the number of tabs I had open when I finally closed it, but all of the 'old' tabs are empty. Somehow fix this behavior?

Deactivation of the modules does not help. By clicking on a link in an external application when Firefox is already open works OK. I use Firefox for some time short (probably half a year) and this problem was still there (not that is not due to a new update).

    Thank you.

If Firefox is closed, and an external link opens Firefox, you must go to history > recently closed tabs and open tabs before closing Firefox. If you don't 'last session' will be gone and only one page than the open external program will be the new "previous session."

If this is not satisfactory, you will need to install an extension of type "session manager" as well as "the last sitting" remember only.

    Search for AMO "session manager".

  • After using groups of tabs earlier today, now whenever I close FF with more than 1 open tab, FF don't ask me to confirm before closing

After using groups of tabs earlier today, now whenever I close FF with more than 1 open tab, FF don't ask me to confirm prior to closing. FF always asked me to confirm in the past and no settings have been changed before you try tab groups. Then when I open FF it again all the tabs I had open are still there. I tried refreshing FF and erase history, but that did not work. It's almost as if FF think windows and tabs I have open are a group of tabs, and he won't let me get rid of this group. How to stop groups of tabs now that I have them? Or is there something else? None of this was going on until this morning, I played with tab groups. I was curious what it was - it's going to make me kill one of these days lol.

Note that using "show my windows and tabs from last time" as the start setting will also prevent Firefox to display an alert when you close the window.

I used to have an application icon on the taskbar of Windows 7 and it will give the list the number of open windows if I have left until it clicks. But the icon of Firefox seems to have lots of windows open, except that each entry is a different tab in the single window, I opened...

So I write a similar question with the answer that I have found useful.

    SOLUTION
In tools > Options, open the "Tabs" tab: uncheck the box prΘvisualisation, "Show tab in the Windows task bar."

In my case, immediately displays taskbar icon an entry by the window open, bearing the title of the currently opened tab. Zero had to restart Firefox to see its new configuration to take effect.

Now, if I opened another window in Firefox, the Firefox icon displays a list of open windows. He cut down the mess!

Zero was running Windows 7 and Firefox 22, I'm 34 of Firefox.

Edited to remove [b] for "BOLD".

    SOLUTION

In tools > Options, open the "Tabs" tab: uncheck the box prΘvisualisation, "Show tab in the Windows task bar."

  • Thunderbird updated and closes all open tabs.

I often keep an e-mail tab opened as a reminder until I Act on it. Sometimes I'll have 10 or so tabs open at the same time.
Yesterday, I left the House for several hours, leaving my computer. When I got home, the Thunderbird and Firefox have been closed. They are open, when I left.
When I open Thunderbird, all my open tabs were closed. I have no idea what they were and I could not find any list of recently closed tabs, so I could resume. I can only assume that an update took place in my absence and this is what has been charged to close Thunderbird.
This used to happen with Firefox, sometimes after a update but you seem to have fixed that. Please correct Thunderbird so that it never closes tabs open.
    Thank you

Bottom line is direct of tabs in a file called session.json. All sorts of personal information and the tools of type 'acceleration' remove this information caching. One of the really popular is CCleaner. In the case of Firefox, they have an additional backups they can restore from, but it's only a matter of time before these same tools. but in the case of Thunderbird feature is somewhat reduced. Manly, I think because nobody at the time thought people came to rely on the tabs. In the underlying code, the tabs are messy and really large parts of 'vision' expect more attention. Thunderbird actually has only one and the rest is smoke and mirrors where my questions specific re long-term reliability. Dial in a tab can see more work on the part of the tab of the interface to make it more robust.

Having said that I had problems with Firefox in the very recent past, but I also run nightly compilations expect so most people never see questions. (Testing takes many forms.)

Make your own backup of the session.json file is a workaround if you feel strongly enough, but personally I think that saved search folders and tags are an arrangement much better that most IMAP servers come with your tags appear on other devices as well.

    My opinion is.
Mail tag as ' to do '.
    Open find Ctrl + Shift + F
criteria a search, for tags contains ' to ' set the folder and subfolder to find
Click on search to make sure that your criteria works, and then click on save in the search folder.
Thunderbird now has a new record that contains only your mails containing the tag "to do." Search folders are a uses significantly less characteristic (probably because no one knows they exist), but they do a lot of business functions much easier. (they are what underlies the folder "unified" view {view menu > folders > unified} a collection of search folders.)

Could you check to see if you have a given box checked in the Options dialog box:

"3-bar" menu button (or tools) > Options > tabs

If "Show glimpses of tab in the Windows task bar" is turned on, instead of having an entry by the window, you get one entry per tab, uncheck the box to turn off.

Hello steve, all your personal data and customizations will be still be there in the updated version. However, it is never a bad idea to create a backup from time to time: back up and restore the information contained in the profiles of Firefox
