Thunderbird updated and closes all open tabs.

I often keep an e-mail tab opened as a reminder until I Act on it. Sometimes I'll have 10 or so tabs open at the same time.
Yesterday, I left the House for several hours, leaving my computer. When I got home, the Thunderbird and Firefox have been closed. They are open, when I left.
When I open Thunderbird, all my open tabs were closed. I have no idea what they were and I could not find any list of recently closed tabs, so I could resume. I can only assume that an update took place in my absence and this is what has been charged to close Thunderbird.
This used to happen with Firefox, sometimes after a update but you seem to have fixed that. Please correct Thunderbird so that it never closes tabs open.
Thank you
Bill

Bottom line is direct of tabs in a file called session.json. All sorts of personal information and the tools of type 'acceleration' remove this information caching. One of the really popular is CCleaner. In the case of Firefox, they have an additional backups they can restore from, but it's only a matter of time before these same tools. but in the case of Thunderbird feature is somewhat reduced. Manly, I think because nobody at the time thought people came to rely on the tabs. In the underlying code, the tabs are messy and really large parts of 'vision' expect more attention. Thunderbird actually has only one and the rest is smoke and mirrors where my questions specific re long-term reliability. Dial in a tab can see more work on the part of the tab of the interface to make it more robust.

Having said that I had problems with Firefox in the very recent past, but I also run nightly compilations expect so most people never see questions. (Testing takes many forms.)

Make your own backup of the session.json file is a workaround if you feel strongly enough, but personally I think that saved search folders and tags are an arrangement much better that most IMAP servers come with your tags appear on other devices as well.

My opinion is.
Mail tag as ' to do '.
Open find Ctrl + Shift + F
criteria a search, for tags contains ' to ' set the folder and subfolder to find
Click on search to make sure that your criteria works, and then click on save in the search folder.
Thunderbird now has a new record that contains only your mails containing the tag "to do." Search folders are a uses significantly less characteristic (probably because no one knows they exist), but they do a lot of business functions much easier. (they are what underlies the folder "unified" view {view menu > folders > unified} a collection of search folders.)

  • Sometimes I want to just close ONLY a window, but Firefox closes all THE TABS, and I don't want to!

Sometimes, I open multiple windows, especially from my box from Comcast. When I'm through with this window, I will conclude, but leave others more open. FIrefox won't do this anymore when I close the 1 window, Firefox send me a message stating that it is to CLOSE all THE TABS. I DON'T want TO CLOSE all of them, I want to just close the window I close!. I tried to find an answer to this in the tools, but was unable to do so. Please help me with this

Make sure that you do not click the X close in the title bar like that closes the active window with all the tabs.

If you have the tab bar visible then click the X close this tab or mid, tab, or use the shortcut Ctrl + W key to close the tab.

At a time, how can another closing a tab I close all my tabs without having to restart Firefox

On a Mac, you can close the window and open a new window to achieve this. Which does not close the Firefox application. You can also a right tab and choose "Close other tabs" from the context menu.

Set browser.tabs.closeWindowWithLastTab pref false on the topic: page config to prevent closing the last tab to close the browser and display a close button if only one tab is open.

To open the topic: config page, type Subject: config in the address bar (address) and press the 'Enter' key, as you type the url of a Web site to open a Web site.

I installed Firefox 4 on my laptop but not on my PC because of 2 problems: -.

    (2) Firefox 4 closed all float ins without asking or advising me. This allows not only my life more complicated, it also prevents clients download freebe offers because they are completely unaware of them. Why you play 'Big Brother' and decide for us what we see online?

I think that it is assuming you are using the new FF4 Menu button. If you use the old style of 3.6, page options would be under the menu 'tools '.

IS THERE A SHORTCUT TO DO THIS OR CAN SOMEONE HELP ME AS IM NEW TO A PAOLO THANX.

I'm not aware of a shortcut 'universal' to close all open files, but check out a few ideas below:

    • If the files that you want to close are part of the same program (Word, or folders, files etc), they will be grouped in the taskbar. You can right click on the taskbar icon, and then selectclose all Windows.
    • I found that the CTRL + W is very convenient to close open tabs or even some windows such as Windows Explorer Windows, as well as the traditional ALT + F4 shortcut. In some applications (for example, Visual Studio), then CTRL + F4 closed a file opened without leaving the application.  When I have a lot of things to close, I use these soldiers to accomplish the task more quickly.
    • If minimize all work instead to close all windows, you can try the Windows key + "D".

  • Update of Firefox, and now history, open tabs and bookmarks have disappeared

    Hi all

I rebooted and Firefox automatically promoted in 15.0.1 v. All my favorites, history and open tabs have disappeared. I am running Vista.

I tried the solutions on the firefox page, nothing has worked. For example, tried to find the profile file, any file it.

Such a pain that all disappeared! Hoping someone can help. Thanks in advance.

First save your profile, place it in a safe place off-trail of Firefox (Vista desktop will do).

Download an official updated copy of Firefox (it's now 16.x) of

Run the Setup program to install Firefox 16 on the existing version, there is no need to remove any personal information (for which destroyed the passwords and bookmarks).

Run the new version of Firefox, if it doesn't work try to run in safe mode

  • Thunderbird updated and now it freezes when opening SOLVED caused by Frontier

Yesterday morning, I stopped getting emails on [email protected] and [email protected]. I could send emails but not receive and thunderbird could not save sent messages. It looks like somehow, became the pop3 and imap. I called the support of the border. I was told that I must have been lucky, it worked. He was no help. As we worked on the issue, I noticed an upgrade at 38 - whatever. Oh, he said that this is the problem. Well no, it wasn't. The message was server may be disconnected. I gathered my info and tried changing ports. Then, I got a message that fronier is a pop imap not. My plan was to remove the two accounts and again according to the instructions that I found. However, Thunderbird has decided to freeze and the tech has hung up. Not for lack of hiks. Nice, huh? Then, I ran in safe mode and removed all emails before early July. I was going to delete the account and build a new one for the emails of the border. My other email by another company works very well. I sent test emails to her to the border. He got them. Now, however; I can't even open Thunderbird. He immediately freezes and I have to hard start down. I didn't want to receive messages in safe mode, but I sent. It does not freeze in safe mode. I read some technical stuff on firefox, but I need help from 1/2/3. Not a techie. I can't even get the emails that may come in! I have no work email in Thunderbird currently due to the freeze. Do not you call?

I think that I thought about it. It started with the border being disconnected. Is not not a geek, I've not yet thought why pop3 was gone. It seems that Frontier is not Imap and probably all that you know who is a bit outdated. Everyone except me. I worked on it for at least 2 days. I took out my emails of border and Thunderbird works perfectly again. It would not hold pop3 in all and for a good reason. I can repeat the survey I took? The disconnection of the border occurred while the border was in my computer. They blame you and I went with it. Hmmm. The old catch 22. Down the line as soon as possible to track the stats of em.
