SyncToy 2.1 'unknown error. Access is denied. »

I just bought a new laptop I want to synchronize with my desktop.

SyncToy 2.1 is only installed on the desktop.

Both are equipped with Windows 7 and are the only members of a homegroup.
The files are accessible in both directions through the homegroup.
Folder on the left C:\Users\Me\Documents\
Good record \\TINY\Users\Me\Documents\
Both machines have all the boxes SHARE the LIBRARIES of PRINTERS AND audited.
Under CHANGE ADVANCED SHARING SETTINGS both are configured as follows:
Turn on network discovery
Open file and printer sharing
Turn on sharing so anyone with network access can read and write files in public folders
Use 128-bit encryption to protect file sharing connections
Turn off password protected sharing
Allow Windows to manage the homegroup connections

HOWEVER
When I right click on a folder to share (IE. My Documents) and follow the SHARE WITH menu drop down, no one is to his left, a lock icon
If I try to change the READ/WRITE permissions to the homegroup it allows me to select, but when I revisit, he returned to PERSON with the padlock icon to its left
When I run SyncToy 2.1 and ALL RUN the meter end account but each unique number is the column down in red.
The SyncToy execution completed with errors.
Read errors: error Error: Unknown. Access is denied. (Exception of HRRESULT: 0x80070005 (E_ACCESSDENIED)) Copy the path C:\Users\me\file
I have this feeling I'm missing something very basic, but I don't know what it is. Your help will be very appreciated.

I have experienced the same problem earlier with SyncToy 2.1 running on my Win 7 x 64 Dell e4310 backup bare SATA hard drives via a Kingwin dock via eSATA.

More funny thing is: SyncToy to backup all the files on my disk WD Caviar 320 GB ("Backup1") without any error. But when I pop my WD Caviar Green 1 TB drive it in ("Backup 2") grates fair 520 failure operations. All with "Exception from HRRESULT: 0x80070005 (E_ACCESSDENIED).

How I fixed it:

Shift-right click on SyncToy 2.1(x64) and select 'run as administrator '.

It worked for me.

My computer will be back up to a point, then will be an error "access is denied. (0x80070005) "at the same time, Microsoft security essentials SAIS it detects a potential threat.

My question is this: if he stops because it detects a corrupted file?  or is there an error with a certain application that prevents a full backup?

    Hi Cyberwasp35,

    ·         Exactly how are you trying to backup?

    ·         You run the computer as an administrator?

    ·         Have you tried a backup on an external hard drive?

    Try the following steps.

    Step 1

Perform an online scan to remove the threat detected by the basics of Microsoft security during the backup process

To make online scan click on the link below:

Try to disable antivirus software and check if the backup is successful.

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/disable-antivirus-software

Note: Antivirus software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. In most cases, you should not disable your antivirus software. If you do not disable temporarily to install other software, you must reactivate as soon as you are finished. If you are connected to the Internet or a network during the time that your antivirus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks.

    Step 2

This error can also occur because the recovery partition is enabled for the file backup or restore of the system and is almost full. To work around this problem, do not select D:\ as a backup source. In addition, go to the System Protection in Control Panel and make sure that D:\ is not activated for restore points.

    (1) open the backup and restore by clicking on the Start button, clicking Control Panel, clicking system and Maintenance, and then clicking the backup and restore.

    2) click change settings.  If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

    (3) clear the partition D drive if it is selected, and then try to backup again

Check if the service is stopped or started. Change it to start if it is stopped. The service name is windows backup.
