System for power and volume icons disappeared.

Original title: System icons

My system for power and volume icons disappeared and I can't click on them to restore. I have a personal laptop and no system administrator I know. I don't remember doing anything unusual. They were here 1 day and went on the other.

Hello

Try Method 1 and if it is not available, try Method 3 in the link:

"How to activate or disable the Notification area system icons in Vista"

http://www.Vistax64.com/tutorials/106787-notification-area-system-icons.html

You can also try a system restore to before that was the problem:

the honest answer is expected... Thank you!

    Hello

    Try this:

Control Panel - device - sounds Manager - note manufacturer device name and info on the graduating model.
Double click and get the date and version of the driver (if 06 are dates, you use the default windows driver). Now
Click the DRIVER UPDATE (this can not find anything because MS is far behind the certification of drivers). Now LAW
CLICK above and UNINSTALL - REBOOT - it will refresh the driver stack.

Now, go to the manufacturer of the system and recover the last pilot audio/Hi-Fi as a fall.

Download it - SAVE - go to where you put it - RIGHT CLICK top - RUN AS ADMIN - REBOOT

Now do the same for the manufacturer of the device (the one that made the device - if you were using the default windows
you might need to look in the Device Manager - his new driver).

Often, you will need to run the sound card drivers several times to get the latest version installed and will appear in
Manager - Sound. This is because they make back the drivers one at a time and then finally install the
most recent. Look in the Device Manager to be sure that you have installed the version of the driver is the one showing, if not
run the driver again (reset each time) until the shows a correct.

Look at the sites of the manufacturer for drivers - and the manufacturer of the device manually.

  • Volume icon disappeared from my system tray, and the option is grayed out (don't let me check it out) in the taskbar and start menu properties screen /Notification

I don't know how to recover my volume icon - can anyone help?  Thank you!

    Hello

If one of the system icons is out, you can reactivate the as follows:

Right-click on the taskbar and select Properties. This will bring up the tab "properties of menu taskbar and start. It's where you mentioned, it is gray. It is very well...  From there, you can click on Customize button in the icon section. Look for the icon that you are missing, and check the status. The type of report should read "Hide icon and notifications", change that to "Show icon and notifications".

If this does not resolve the issue most likely you have a problem with group policy on your machine. This can be corrected by following the instructions on the following link:

  • icons missing from the notification area on the taskbar (the path below the screen) - the volume icon disappeared and arrow to show/hide icons disappeared

The icons in the notification area of the bar (on the side of the lower right of the desktop) tasks are not all there.  The speaker/volume icon is over now and the arrow next to the notification (to show and hide icons) area has also disappeared.  I have not changed anything on the computer.  I tried to restart but it did not help.  No idea why this would suddenly disappear and how to get it back?

  • Volume icon disappears from the taskbar

Volume icon missing on the task bar.  Seek to return so I can adjust volume when necessary

It was with my installation of XP.  I have to open the Control Panel, uncheck the 'show' in the task bar (or system tray, whatever it may be), hit apply, then re - check and apply again.  It should appear. For a period of time.  Also started happening with my battery/power icon and the same solution worked for a while, but now it works again (just for the battery - the volume still works like that).  I had found some registry changes, but they do not seem to have worked.  Any comments would be useful.  I still have to run this laptop sometimes.
