System sounds & his browser = Yes, sound Media = NO!

Hey guys! First post here so I hope that I give all the info as I should.

Basically, I got an update from HP. I was sport to music until I restarted so I put everything on the update being responsible for the problems that I'm having now.

I restarted what is basically normal. Everything started fine.

Went to play music on itunes. The song appears in the top bar, but would not play (it would remain stuck on 0.00).

Tried another drive. MPC will appear to read the track bar moves on the length of the track, but no sound will play. MP displays an error, and when I followed him for the diagnosis of the web page, he said that media player is unable to read the file itself. I can't play videos on MP. Video will play the MPC player / VLC, but there is no sound.

Play system sounds, as well as videos on youtube, also hear players in browsers.

I checked my sound and video in my device manager and it says that they all work properly. They were, however, updated.

I don't really know how to rectify the error I get. II have updated the media players in the hope that it might work, but I still have no sound.

I have to add a codec? I've had the laptop since January and it has worked well with what was on the laptop when I got it?

Or I have to do a system restore? but do not know if I need to what was in the update itself!

My system is windows 8-64 bit

HP Pavilion G6

Everyone knows about this problem?

PS Sorry if that has long drawn!

Ok! I fixed it ~

I just rolled back my IDT HD Audio Codec. Restarted and the sound is back!

Woo!

  • Satellite P20 - system sounds work but nothing else

I have a P20-552 (PSP26E-025E9-S4) which is a little more than two years. This morning he suddenly decided to not play some sounds. System sounds play as usual as do all soundtracks from my video editing software (Adobe Premiere Elements).

However, when you try to open a file AVI, WAV or MP3 using WMP, I get the following message:

Windows Media Player cannot play the file because there is a problem with the audio device. It might not be a sound device installed on your computer, it can be used by another program, or it might not work properly

iTunes gives you a similar error message.

RealPlayer produces more sound during radio playback. It gives all the possible indications of play station involved, but no actual sound is produced. It was working fine last night.

The only thing I remember past which was for the first time in four days, when I turned the machine last night the Windows automatic update did NOT install something. For the last four days, he apparently had five updates to perform each time and I, of course, always left the machine in order to perform updates and turns off.

In Control Panel, I just went in sounds and Audio devices and on the Volume tab, he says no. Audio Device. Under the tab Audio everything is grey I ve a feeling that this is not normal

In Device Manager there is no indication of any conflicts etc.

    Can someone help me, please?

I had a similar situation after voice chat through MSN messenger. Remove the sound card in Device Manager, reboot the device and check if it works again. If so, is probably a responsible application of this.

    Which one? Find only.

  • Pavilion DV6-6153: No Audio signal except for system sounds

Hello. So recently, I replaced the motherboard in my laptop because my bios has been corrupted. After that all setting upward and upward and the race, I'm running in this audio problem. All the system sounds work fine as the starter and such. When I click on test in sound control panel I can hear it, but when I try to play a music file or to play a video on youtube there is no audio at all. Windows media player says there is a problem with the audio device, but I don't know what it is. So far I tried to uninstall and reinstall the IDT audio drivers but the problem persists. If someone has a different solution, it would be much appreciated! My laptop are:

    Hi @shayanaijaz

    Thank you for your response.

Here is a link to HP laptops - no sound on speakers (Windows 7).  You can skip the steps that you did previously.

If after you have installed the drivers of origin since the Recovery Manager, you still have a problem with the sound, I suggest you do a recovery in factory.

HP computers - performing a recovery of system HP (Windows 7)

During recovery, you will see an option to backup your personal files to avoid data loss.

HP computers - restore files that have been supported to the top using HP Recovery Manager (Windows 7)

You could also test the sound card just to rule out this possibility.

HP Notebook PC - detection of hardware failures (Windows 7, Vista)

My last suggestion is to contact HP support for assistance.

  • System only through headphones - no music sounds. BUT... the music only through USB speakers. No system sounds. What is happening with this?

I listened to the music on my computer through headphones regular plugged into the audio jack of 3.5 mm.  I could hear the computer through headphones - music, movies, YouTube, system sounds - everything.

Then, I plugged my Microsoft Digital Sound System 80 speakers via the USB interface.  Windows XP found the speakers, loaded the right driver, gave me the message "your device is ready to use" and things started to play music that was running on the computer.  Sounds incredible.

But now, I have a weird problem.  I can hear only the sounds system through headphones (beeps and dings that play during system events), but I can't hear the sound system on the USB speakers. AND... I can't hear the music/videos/YouTube, etc. on the speakers USB-interface, but I can't hear the sound system through the USB speakers.

When I go to the audio tab of the sounds applet in the control panel and change the device for audio playback by default "SoundMAX HD Audio" to "Microsoft Digital Sound System", then I hear everything - system and all - sounds on USB speakers.  But then I hear anything through the headphones.

I want to be able to Exchange music back to making the USB speakers.  How this is done?

Yes, they are older speakers.  But they work a lot.  And the digital sound via the USB interface is excellent.

    Hi BitSpanker,

The only option is to change the audio device by default for the device that you want to hear the audio.

    (a) click Start, click Control Panel, and then click sounds, speech, and Audio devices.

    (b) click on sounds and Audio devices, and then click the Audio tab.

    (c) in the sound playback section, under default device, make sure the audio device is the correct default audio device.

    (d) If this isn't the correct default audio device, click the drop-down list next to the device name, click the audio device you want, and then click OK.

Change the audio device may require that restart you your computer.

    No sound in Windows

  • Loss of system sounds and the internet, speakers pass test.

I have seen this issue a couple of times for its complete loss, but only once for my specific problem.  I am running Windows Vista 32 - bit OS with speakers Realtek High Definition Audio on a HP Pavilion Media Center m7760n.  I have run the diagnostics on my speakers and that they work properly.

    Here's my question:

Lost computer system sounds and flashplayer/internet despite the audio device in place and work properly.  I still have sound when playing Windows Media Player and iTunes, so it doesn't seem like a problem of device or driver, although I did uninstall and reinstall the driver.  I also performed some diagnostics on the speakers and in the test that they did play sounds, but they haven't played the system sounds in the sounds/system folder.  Another strange appearance is the presence of the sound of my PC, an alert tone, I don't remember having heard it before and cannot be bound.  These are the programs that have been installed around the time I lost sound: Windows Update, Package of device driver of network adapters Apple and Serial Bus controller device driver Package universal of Apple, Inc.  This computer has always run Vista, so is not upgrade, and I don't think it's a Service Pack, it could only be that of the update, so I don't know if these answers would really help me.  I searched on Google, CNet, HP and the basis of knowledge of Windows without success.

Here is a link to a question from CNet which reflects mine, but relates to the execution of a registry cleaner, that I did not.  http://forums.CNET.com/5208-12546_102-0.html?ThreadId=345265

I read on one of my research about it being a registry with Flash or a missing codec problem, but it wants me to download K-Lite codec pack which I don't know that I need.

I run a restore if there is no available answer, but it would be good to know what the problem is.  I can't be the only one with this problem, if there is someone out there who knows how to solve this problem, your help would be greatly appreciated!

    Terri,
If this problem started when you downloaded the updates listed in your first post, you tried to remove these updates to see if the problem goes away?  What are the Apple updates that you noted in your post - what kind of Apple devices you have installed?  And what Vista update - what is has been downloaded just before this problem?  Just try to identify what it is a very strange problem with it only affects some sounds, but not all.  I know that some Vista updates can return drivers for Windows by default, crushing the drivers from the manufacturer, so you could check and make sure you have the latest drivers from the manufacturer and not the default Windows drivers.  Also check your templates of sounds in the control panel.  Try selecting different models of sounds to see if any of them will play sounds.  As a first step, you said that the sound works with Media Player and iTunes, but in your last post, you said that it gives you an error when you try to play a CD.  What is the exact error and what program are you trying to use to play the CD?  I know that you do not want to do the system restore, but you may need.

Here's one thing to try before you perform the restore:
To run the System File Checker tool, follow these steps:
Click Start and type cmd in the box start the search.
Right click on cmd in the list programs, and then click Run as administrator.
If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type your password or click on continue
At the command prompt, type the following line and press ENTER:
    sfc/scannow
When the analysis is complete, test to see if the problem you are experiencing is resolved.

LST know us if this has been helpful for you and how we can be of further assistance.

  • Palm Pre has no system sounds

My husband and I have 2 nine Pre - his sounds system (dragging objects etc.) and mine does not work!  I played with it a bit - but I don't remember ever making sounds, and I was surprised to hear her do it!

Any way to reset zero/restore these sounds?

I know that there is a bug with this. Try this. Go to your options of sounds & ringtones. Completely mount the system sounds. You may not notice anything else yet (this is the bug). Now, restart the phone. (Orange key key Sym + R key) Now, open an application and drag the map, should work. Now you can go in your sounds ringtones & again once and move this slider even back down if you want low enough other sounds like the Dialer buttons. You swoosh sound will always be strong. All this usually resets if you restart still sometimes. And have to redo the steps.

  • Disable system sounds

  • No system sounds

My system sounds, ToggleKeys, ringing stopped. As well as my iTunes music. I don't know what may have caused it. I checked "Manage Audio devices", and 3 devices listed, the appropriate device is the default device. I don't know what else to check. I would be grateful for some assistance.

I had a problem on my PC once don't no audio and I ran two commands from a command prompt:

    net stop audiosrv

    net start audiosrv

However, I think rebooting would really do the same thing, so it can't hurt, but I don't think stop and start audio service should solve your particular problem.

When you manage audio devices, one showing the activity is set as "default"?

  • System sounds will not be disabled

Specific irritation, I got right now is the fact that I did not open Outlook (2010) on my laptop to... Well, a lot of time. So now, I have a ton of new notifications by e-mail, pay, and they do not close to the top.

First of all, I tried to set the Notification Mail new Windows 'no sound': no effect. I restarted Outlook without effect; I restarted my PC without effect. Then I tried to turn off all the system sounds: no effect. Yet once I restarted Outlook and the PC without effect. Then, I remembered to check Outlook localized parameters and not selected "beep": no effect. Yet once I restarted Outlook and the PC without effect. (In addition, this problem is not isolated to Outlook because after each)
the system restarts, other system alert sounds made noise).

I am at a total loss. I simply cut the sound, but I'm watching DVDs. It is, in fact, an old problem that I couldn't be bothered solve before, but now I want it fixed.

I solved this problem by opening the volume mixer (a left click on the volume in the system tray icon, then clicking on 'mixer'); I was then able to mute the system sounds and sounds of individual (including Outlook) application in now the volume of the speaker to DVD, etc..

  • system sounds will not play

    Dear Microsoft,

I felt a strange problem I was wondering that you could help me with.

For almost 48 hours now that I've lost the ability to play sounds on the computer system - don't be fooled here; I can play sounds through my headphones or the speakers, and I can play the audio file system in other programs.  It is only when you try to play through the 'Sounds' of the volume control Manager tab, all I get is an odd clicking effect.

It's almost as if the executable responsible for controlling audio files, performing the action attached, stopped working.  Can you tell me how to reset this feature?

    Hi Hyncharas,

Were there any changes made on the computer before the show?

  • System sounds went into Windows 8

I am running Windows 8 Pro (version 6.2 build 9200) and I have no sound system. All other sounds work properly - no problems, watch movies, listen to music, etc.  System sounds are set to 100% on the mixer and are not dumb. I also tried to change the system sounds, but to no avail. Any ideas anyone? Thanks in advance.

I managed to fix it. I had to open the registry editor. I chose HKEY_CURRENT_USER. In the right hand pane there is a column called Name with the value "(Default)". The data column is empty. It should read "(valeur non définie) '." To solve this problem, I "(Default)" right click and choose Delete on the shortcut menu. After restarting my computer my sound system was back.
