Tablespace in expansion.

Hi all

I used all my space for a database table, formed following files.

users01.DBF (32 GB)

USERS02.DBF (32 GB)

USERS02.DBF (32 GB)

I can add another file to the table space by publishing the following...

ALTER TABLESPACE USERS add DATAFILE ' /u02/oradata/dbnameusers04.dbf' SIZE 32 G autoextend on next maxsize 50 m 60 G;

that will add a new file with auto-growth up to 60 GB.

My question is - can't I just add autoextend to existing files, rather then by adding a new?

ALTER DATABASE DATAFILE ' /u02/oradata/dbnameusers01.dbf' resize 45 GM autoextend on next maxsize 50 m 60 G;

ALTER DATABASE DATAFILE ' /u02/oradata/dbnameusers02.dbf' resize 45 GM autoextend on next maxsize 50 m 60 G;

ALTER DATABASE DATAFILE ' /u02/oradata/dbnameusers03.dbf' resize 45 GM autoextend on next maxsize 50 m 60 G;

If it's false, what is the correct format to do?

Thanks in advance.

Dave

Dave, the maximum file size is limited by the operating system and the size of blocks Oracle tablespace in use.  With Oracle 8 K block and a small file tablespace, the maximum file size is 32G.  See the reference in version # Oracle manual.  Attention, in the past, it was possible to allocate the files which exceeded the size that Oracle could deal with and I know DBA that still limit their allocations of file to something less than the official limit just because of these past mistakes.  You almost always include the full version of Oracle on any ad.

  • Is it possible to create a new tablespace including datafile will be on a filesystem instead of ASM?

    All our data files are located in the ASM disks (we have only an ASM diskgroup). Now, we run out of space in this ASM diskgroup even though we have a planned expansion of the ASM disk, but it will not happen anytime soon.

    Now, I need to move partitions to be able to resize the files of database considerably. When moving partitions, I need to create a new tablespace where partitions can be moved (in the file system) and then be moved to an original tablespace (in ASM). But since our scores are so large (in GB), I don't have enough space in ASM. I don't have a file system that has enough space to do the above. My question is: is there any problem if I create this tablespace move in this filesystem having in mind that my database uses ASM? It's just temporary until I'm done with that. Unfortunately, I do not have a test bench where I can test this.

    Oracle keeps, realize, or whether or not the data reside on ASM.

  • No longer recognizes my Seagate Expansion drive after upgrade to El Capitan

    I upgraded this morning to El Capitan. Before that in so doing, I took care of my backup Crashplan was full then removed all of my external drives. I have three following readers:

    (1) Seagate 2 TB portable backup more (for important storage images/documents/videos so I can work between home and College)

    (2) Office of more than Seagate 3TO backup drive (for part of my Crashplan backup - I also backup to Crashplan central in the cloud)

    (3) Seagate to 5 Expansion Drive (to store old files, which are now copied on the 2 TB drive now, and I have not used this drive in age anyway)

    Note: nothing is really stored on my Mac hard drive, I keep almost free and save memory for the app

    As all the files in the disk of 5 TB are now on my 2 TB drive, and is in turn supported up to 3 TB drive using Crashplan, it's now redundant, I wanted to wait that I upgraded to El Capitan to format the disk of 5 TB, so it is compatible with Time Machine and make another backup and Crashplan.

    But after that I've upgraded to El Capitan, I plugged it all readers of my back in and adopted the new HD in Crashplan (as their FAQ instruct). Except that only 2 of the 3 discs are now recognized. The 2 TB and 3 TB drives appear fine, but the 5 TB drive appear not at all.

    What can I do to resolve this and get the drive to be recognized? Or just Apple cost me €160 with this upgrade?

  • Invited with 2 airports network expansion

    I have a Time Capsule 802.11ac (used a router with DHCP and NAT) and an extreme recently added as an extension of the network.

    I configured the extreme through the Airport utility to expand the networks via a connection time Capsule wireless net of ether. I have configured the router out of the box with the utility Airport a few weeks ago and everything seemed ok. When the update to Airport utility and Firmware was released this week I updated the two airports (now at 7.7.7) and Airport utility.

    Who broke the network extended comments. In my opinion, he was working before the update, but it was not much used. After the update, the primary network of comments Time Capsule airport operating normally as before. But when it connects to the network invited by the extreme mode bridge, my devices that all get a self assigned IP. Apparently, broken updates bypass DHCP.

    I have reset the extreme at the defaults and it reconfigured several times with Airport utility, but it still does not work.

    To summarize the network is Time Capsule (DHCP and NAT) with the network comments-> Extreme (bridge with network feedback mode) connected by ethernet. The main wireless network works on the two airports. The distance between the Airpotrts is 3 floors and about 60 feet, so that they do not interfere with each other and the networks may be extended wireless only via ethernet.

    Has anyone another considering also occur after the recent updates? Before?

    I contacted Apple support, and so far, they are puzzled. The technicians were not very familiar with the expansion of network of comments and intensified the issue to engineering. I believe that the recent update may have caused the problem, but not sure.

    I solved this problem. When you use Ethernet, you must have a direct Ethernet connection between airport expansion and airport router (no switch between the two). Now comments from both airports network functions.

  • EliteBook 8440p: problems of Expansion RAM HP 8440p

    I recently decided to upgrade the memory on my EliteBook 8440p. After reading the form of RAM required, I bought one of these: http://www.ebuyer.com/737970-kingston-4gb-1333mhz-204-pin-cl9-ddr3-sodimm-non-ecc-unbuffered-1-5v-me...

    Once the new RAM is installed in the expansion slot, Windows will not start and crashes just on screen "starting Windows." Then I tried a test of memory using the system BIOS diagnostic tool, but the laptop either hangs around 35% (I left it there for about two hours), restarts, or stops altogether. I thought that I would give to the system try, repair tool but which caused also just the laptop restart. Curiously, when I check the "System information" tab the system diagnostics, the two RAM sticks are detected with current and accurate information.

    I contacted eBuyer, they sent a replacement out there, but I'm having the same problem again. So, I thought I would try to install new RAM in the internal slot instead (under the keyboard), but now I have a BSOD during the 'Starting Windows' screen, give me code error, "IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL"

    I read on some forums tech upward. One of them suggested runs what is called 'Memtest' at startup via the CD, I tried, but the laptop restarts only during the first passage of the test of memory (and of course some loops over and over again until I remove the CD).

    I'm starting to lose hope! Any help/advice/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

  • Satellite P25-S509 - RAM expansion

    I have a Satellite P25-S509/PSP20U-ILKF3V and I am looking for instructions on adding ram. The underside of the computer's installed ram 1 GB and am looking to add another GB of Ram. They told me that I have to remove the screen and lift the keyboard to go to the area of expansion on this laptop. This device has a max of 2 GB, can someone help me with this?

    Thanks, Dan

    Hi faccipointi,

    Usually the second RAM slot is placed on the underside that you already wrote and founded, but the first RAM slot should be under the keyboard. This means that you need to remove the keyboard to upgrade the RAM module.

  • Satellite Pro U300 Expansion Chassis problem

    Hello fellow users.

    I am trying to use an expresscard with my satellite pro expansion chassis. Problem is that in Device Manager, I am getting error code 12 for PCI bridges in the chassis and the error code 31 for the PCI bridge on the card I want to use in the expansion chassis.

    I installed latest version of the BIOS but cannot solve the problem.

    Slot for Express card in my computer is fine because I use an Ethernet Express of 1 card G without problem.

    Hunting on the web, it seems that the problem is related to the BIOS being unable to handle the number of PCI bus in the system, refer to the knowledge base article 942959 Microsoft. This article explains the problem and how to Vista and W2008 reslove.

    I am running XP and work around, that they said, does not work. Upgrading to Vista is not really an option as software I want to use is not yet the version for Vista.

    My only options left at this stage are fresh install XP to see if it corrects the problem, or vista fresh install and hope I want to use drivers/software works under Vista.

    Has anyone else seen this problem, got any other suggestions.

    Thank you very much

  • Extension of expansion Port 3 cable?

    I found the expansion port 3 on my Bay docking station is much too short to comfortably connect to my laptop. Is there anywhere I could get an extension for this? I searched all over the internet and have failed to find something like this, but am desperately need in some way to the longer cord.

    Ahh! OK, I'm now. Its going to be hard to source, one of these cables. There are none located in the HP store I know. I did a little research and found a company that will do custom cables, which is an option. Here's their link: custom Computer Cables

    I looked on eBay and have not found something out there that would work. How long of an extension do you need?

    Hi, new to the forum.

    I have a HP Slimline 450 - A24 and would like to know if it is possible to install a port 4 USB 3.0 PCIe expansion card?  All I could find is that the expansion port was used. Is it possible to add even 4 port USB 3.0 PCIe expansion card?

    Thanks fror your help

    Hi @gulwing1,

    That the Forums are with you! It's a good place to find the help you need, other users, the HP experts and other members of the support staff. I understand that you are looking for more information on your system and whether it is possible to put a 4-port USB 3.0 PCIe card. I'm happy to give you a helping hand with this.

    Looking at the HP Slimline 450 - a24 Desktop PC product specificationsand HP and Compaq Desktop PCs - specifications (P-nutmeg nuts) of the motherboard, System Board lists no matter what expansion slot at all.  With this in mind, you cannot use a PCIe card in this system.

    It is unfortunately not the news you wanted, but answering your question. Please mark this message as a solution. Bravo would be appreciated as well.

  • Expansion card Thunderbolt for Mac Pro desktop

    Desktop Mac Pro with OS 10.11.3.

    I plan to replace my popular BU external hard drive with a 6 TB of Raid drive.  The office is not equipped with a Thunderbolt port and would therefore add an expansion card Thunderbolt.  Any suggestions?

    Having a large number of drives 1 TB is a mess, but I do not understand there are some misgivings and other limitations as the Thunderbolt expansion card insertion location.

    I would like to add an expansion card Thunderbolt.

    It is not now, nor will there EVER be a ThunderBolt expansion card. Only computers who left the factory equipped ThunderBolt (or in the case of some systems of ASUS, compatible ThunderBolt) can use ThunderBolt.

    Intel controls custom chips, that you would need, and they don't want a ThunderBolt expansion card. Detective Conan.
