tablespace of default index for a user
Hi friends,We know that we can assign default tablespace and a temporary tablespace (if 10g then tablespace temp group) to the user when creating. I wann to know if there is a provided option to specify the default index to 9i, 10g or 11g tablespace?
Database: 9.2.0.6
OPERATING SYSTEM: IBM AIX 5.2
My problem is, users create indexes in the tablespace default even if the index tablespace quota is provided. so now I want the forcely create indexes in the tablespace index only.
Thanks in advance.
Hi Finbar
Separation of indexes on tables often hingers rather than improves performance. A few thoughts to consider:

It's one of those myths that slowly disappears.
Even some of the benefits are the so-called 'Administration' are a little over-rated:

Also, everything simply because metalink says that's the case, does not necessarily that it's so much ;)

Published by: sr_d on October 29, 2008 03:16I created a new database. And as a sys, I created a user named Sissi
S_rd,
First thing is that this user, Satish is a default user. This isn't a user generated by Oracle for you like Scott, HR. By default are demo patterns that Oracle creates for you in the database for learning purposes. You shouldn't call this user as a default user, that's the first thing.
now, I want to get the sample tables schema of the user Sissi.Thus according to 2 your previous link, I went to $ORACLE_HOME/DEMO/SCHEMA/HUMANRESOURCES DIRECOTRY
of here@sql I invite hr_code.sql to self-test.
This script would create the stored programs of the HR schema in your username. This will create the table employees, departments and so on which are HR belonging to tables. These tables are created with the help of hr_cre.sql and hr_popul.sql (for HR only). These scripts are available in the $OH/demo/schema/directory in previous versions. You can simply run these and the user objects would be created. Now, these files are not available in the default Oracle installation. You need to install the accompanying CD which is a disc of disparate media that gets installed afterwards the cd in the database. If you get this kind of tables in the schema of your own, Satish, you must be
(1) get the scripts from a 9i database, copy it to your system and run in the user Satish.
(2) install the cd cover and from there, get demo patterns. In fact, you need not even install the cd completely. You need get the file that would create them.
You didn't read the link carefully as its mentioned there.
You can also create patterns of sample manually by running the SQL scripts, rather than using DBCA. The scripts are included in the directory of companion on the installation media.Hope that it will do everything for you.
hen I got in the Sissi thing below schema
Satish > tab, select (*);
tNom ttype group
Bin$ table wmjobmn...
They are available in the user Satish trash objects. You can make,sql>show recyclebin; or sql> select * from user_recyclebin;
This would show you the name of the original object with the name of system which starts from BIN$.

I created a form with fields default text for a user to update/customize. Is there a way to style of the text, so I can quickly identify the changes to the default text in a field?
You can use a validation script customized to each text field that looks like:
event.target.textFont = event.value = event.target.defaultValue? font. HelvI: fonts. Helv;
This will make the text italic (Helvetica) when the field value is the value default and regular otherwise. There are other properties that you can use instead, as the field color, border width, background color, text or text size...

Assigning a default schema for a user.
In Oracle can I assign a default schema for a user without using the later session command?
Is there a USER EDIT setting where I can assign a default schema to a user?user9229690 wrote:
Why don't you create a role and assign this role to this user

That would give the user permission to access the tables in the schema of the app, but it would not eliminate the need to qualify these tables with schema name, and it was the stated purpose of the OP.
The solution to the OP's question is synonymous, as Centinul suggested. If it is for a single user, private synonym would be appropriate if, as it seems, many users, may need a public synonym would be more appropriate. If who is considered to be a security problem, then either the logon (ALTER SESSION SET SCHEMA CURRENT...) trigger or procedure run when a new user is created, a set of private synonyms.

query not using the index for some user
Hello
I have a query that is running in less than a second for sys, system, or schema owner. However, another user (test_user) take 30 seconds to run the same query.
I certainly dba and privileges identical to test_user as schmea_user, but the result is the same.
I checked
Select * from V$ SYS_OPTIMIZER_ENV;
Both are the same for both users.
I have check the plan to explain to both users. I noticed that for sys/system/schema_owner, the query uses an index, but not the test_user.
All have experience the issue where a user uses an index, but not the other?
Thank you for any assistance.Thank you for the display of formatting output, this output is much easier to read.
One of the first things you notice about the execution plans that is for the owner non-schema "SQL_ID, 0wcs85uywn72m, number of children 1" appears in the output of DBMS_XPLAN, while "SQL_ID 0wcs85uywn72m, child number 0" (the same SQL_ID but a different number of child) appears for the schema owner. "" Whereas the SQL_ID is the same, which indicates that the client requires exactly the same SQL statement, so it's a good start.
Then, note that in the predicate for the nonschema owner information section the following appears (sometimes with the order of the two conditions switched in position) as a condition placed on each table that is available in the schema:
filter(("SEAL_FLAG" IS NULL OR "SEAL_FLAG"'Y'))
The above suggests the presence of the virtual private database (or a superset of private database virtual) generated the predicates. You should be able to confirm that this is the case by querying V$ VPD_POLICY using the SQL_ID which was displayed in the DBMS_XPLAN output:
SELECT * FROM V$VPD_POLICY WHERE SQL_ID='0wcs85uywn72m';
As a test, I made a few minor adjustments to the example on this page:
http://Antognini.ch/2011/09/optimizer_secure_view_merging-and-VPD/
I changed the name of T to T12 and TESTUSER table specified for the schema names. I then created the function S of this page as follows:CREATE OR REPLACE FUNCTION s (schema IN VARCHAR2, tab IN VARCHAR2) RETURN VARCHAR2 AS BEGIN RETURN 'ID < 10'; END; /
I then added a couple of lines in the T12 test table:
INSERT INTO T12 VALUES (1,1,NULL); INSERT INTO T12 VALUES (4,1,NULL); INSERT INTO T12 VALUES (10,1,NULL); INSERT INTO T12 VALUES (12,1,NULL); COMMIT;
With an active 10053 trace, I executed the following SQL statement:
SELECT id, pad FROM t12 WHERE spy(id, pad) = 1
The SQL_ID (in my case, found in the 10053 trace file) was 6hqw5p9d8g8wf, so I checked V$ VPD_POLICY to this SQL_ID:
SELECT * FROM V$VPD_POLICY WHERE SQL_ID='6hqw5p9d8g8wf'; ADDRESS PARADDR SQL_HASH SQL_ID CHILD_NUMBER OBJECT_OWNER OBJECT_NAME POLICY_GROUP POLICY POLICY_FUNCTION_OWNER PREDICATE ---------------- ---------------- ---------- ------------- ------------ ------------ ------------------------------ ------------------------------ ---------------------- ------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 000007FFB7701608 000007FFB7743350 1518838670 6hqw5p9d8g8wf 0 TESTUSER T12 SYS_DEFAULT T_SEC TESTUSER ID < 10
As noted above, the VPD test function named S added the predicate "ID".< 10"="" to="" the="" sql="">
There are not many clues in the 10053 trace file in my test VPD generated additional predicates. Trace the following was found shortly after the beginning of the file (this is the SQL statement initially presented):
----- Current SQL Statement for this session (sql_id=6hqw5p9d8g8wf) ----- SELECT id, pad FROM t12 WHERE spy(id, pad) = 1
I searched then down in the trace for final after changes query file (to be noted that this sentence could be slightly different in different versions of database Oracle). That's what I found:
Final query after transformations: ******* UNPARSED QUERY IS ******* SELECT "T12"."ID" "ID","T12"."PAD" "PAD" FROM "TESTUSER"."T12" "T12" WHERE "TESTUSER"."SPY"("T12"."ID","T12"."PAD")=1 AND "T12"."ID"<10 kkoqbc: optimizing query block SEL$F5BB74E1 (#0)
Note that the final query after transformation shows how the final version of the query that has been rewritten by the query optimizer before the SQL statement has been executed and this version of the query includes AND "T12". "" IDENTITY CARD ".<10. if="" i="" was="" attempting="" to="" determine="" how="" that="">10.><10 predicate="" was="" added="" to="" the="" sql="" statement,="" i="" would="" start="" at="" the="" "current="" sql="" statement="" for"="" line="" in="" the="" trace="" file="" and="" search="" down="" the="" trace="" file="" for="">10><10* -="" in="" this="" case,="" the="" following="" is="" what="" i="" found="" as="" the="" first="" search="" result,="" very="" close="" to="" the="" "current="" sql="" statement="" for"="" line="" in="" the="" trace="">10*>

If V$ VPD_POLICY revealed that there are virtual private database (VPD) generated predicates applied to the SQL statement, take a look at the following article in the Oracle documentation library:
http://docs.Oracle.com/CD/B28359_01/network.111/B28531/VPD.htmThis article lists the different points of view, who can be interviewed to learn more about the VPD rules which are in force in the schema. For example, with my SPV test:
SELECT * FROM ALL_POLICIES; OBJECT_OWNER OBJECT_NAME POLICY_GROUP POLICY_NAME PF_OWNER PACKAGE FUNCTION SEL INS UPD DEL IDX CHK ENA STA POLICY_TYPE LON ------------------------------ ------------------------------ ----------------------------- ------------------------------ ------------------------------ ----------------------------- ------------------------------ --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- ------------------------ --- TESTUSER T12 SYS_DEFAULT T_SEC TESTUSER S YES YES YES YES NO NO YES NO DYNAMIC NO
He knows performance issues related to the use of VPD, some of which are Oracle Database version-dependent, and some have been fixed in recent versions. Take a look at the following articles if you have access to My Oracle Support:
MetaLink (MOS) Doc ID 728292.1 ' known performance problems when you use transparent encryption data and indexes on the encrypted columns.
MetaLink (MOS) Doc ID 967042.1 "How to investigate Query Performance regressions Caused by VPD (FGAC) predicates?"You might find working through the second of the above that the problem is caused by a bug in database Oracle.
On a side note. Execution plans you have published include the 0 value in the column starts many of the operations in the execution plan. 0 indicates that the operation never actually executed. A 0 is included in the column starts on the line that includes the FULL ACCESS of TABLE of PEOPLE_TRANSACTIONS at least to the OPC. Value 123, a full table of PEOPLE_TRANSACTIONS table scan PROPERTY_CONTAINER_ID was not actually performed.

Firefox won't be the default browser for a user and pins himself to the taskbar
On my Windows 7 PC parents, Firefox always said my mother is not the default browser (giving him the possibility to make sure) and then when closing, he pinned himself to the task bar.
I checked and Firefox to default programs "has its flaws. I tried to get IE by default and then back to Firefox but the problem persists. The PC has no other browsers on it. Clicklinks in Thunderbird cause Firefox open, there'S no so it seems as if it is actually the default.
When Firefox is closed it still pin himself to the taskbar. I can detach it and when it closes, it is still there.
Search on Google, I have a suspicion that pinning occurs when the default configuration of Firefox. I also have a suspicion that something is wrong with the default for HTTP as it does not exist as a protocol to control custom Programs\Set Associations
I have it solved!
The command "Firefox.exe - silent - setDefaultBrowser" seems to have restored the HTTP protocol in control custom Programs\Set Associations.
I found this command on http://kb.mozillazine.org/Setting_Your_Default_Browser#Force_Firefox_to_make_itself_the_default

I found some help on older versions of Firefox, but I can't seem to find anything for the latest versions greater than 8. There must be a way to do this for imaging large scale.
Have you created a defaults\profile in the folder of the program Firefox (C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\)?
All files in this folder will be moved into each newly created profile folder.
To give the prefs a default, it is best to do this via a mozilla.cfg file.
Use a mozilla.cfg file in the Firefox program folder to lock the prefs or specify default values.
Place a local file - settings.js in the defaults\pref folder where you will also find the channel - prefs.js to specify using mozilla.cfg file.pref("general.config.filename", "mozilla.cfg"); pref("general.config.obscure_value", 0); // use this to disable the byte-shift
See:
You can use these functions in mozilla.cfg:
defaultPref(); // set new default value pref(); // set pref, but allow changes in current session lockPref(); // lock pref, disallow changes

How to enable detailed interactive report view by default for the user public?
Hi all
I'm developing a page of search results.
I'm doing a view instead of a default table view of interactive reports. So in this case I activated the details view so that I could make the fancy designs.
everything worked well and looked clean but however when I pass the value of my search using IR_ROWFILTER page and clear the results page using page_noIRB, it brings me to the result page of interactive reports with the default table as point of view.
I have to press the detailed view to get. I tried to save it as a default value, but it won't work. This question is for user public.
If I do the page requires authentication, and record the detail by default view, I wouldn't have any problem. I could search and it will bring directly in to the detail view of the search page.
of course, the other reason that I found is because im using the IR_ROWFILTER and by disabling the page using page_noIRB... without it, it works well, but I need it coz im making a a search result. I need to send the text to search for another page and put it in the filter to the search page. I would need to use the IRB to search again.
is this a limitation to the user public? It happened for the authenticated user but...

Reverse the report for details on the loading of the page using a dynamic action of loading the Page with the following Execute the JavaScript Code real action:
gReport.data.view('DETAIL');

Do you really need is an IR? Other that the layout of detail, do you need any of the interactive features? If not, try to use a standard report with a a report model custom.

g 11 default password for users created in the IOM Web Console?
Hi all
I currently have a problem with putting in password of default user in OIM 11 g.
First, what is the password by default when a user form is filled out with empty password section?
Second, I tried to use entity prepopulate adapters, adapters, etc., but I can't seem to find a way to set the default password for a user created by the Web Console of IOM.
If anyone knows how to do this, could you explain how to accomplish (one point to appropriate documentation would be greatly appreciated, too).
Thanks for all the help in advance!Hello
You have several options:
First of all, you cannot create a user without password unless you have an id valid provided e-mail. At least provide a manager who has a valid e-mail id. In these cases, password is automatically generated and will be sent.
1. the user event handlers. (Post processing event handler). This approach works for both manually created users and reconcile trusted users. It is more of a 11g and a recommended method.
Reference: http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E14571_01/doc.1111/e14309/oper.htm#OMDEV3085
[7.2 extension user management with event handlers operations]2. to reconcile users, you can also use the task process and set password to users when reconciliation insert received. It comes in a conventional way.

I have an OS X lab with VMware Fusion 5 Professional installed. I would like to have the same default preferences for each user that connects to the machine. I tried to copy the preference plists, but there seems to be no effect on other users. Has anyone found how to do this?
By default, VMware Fusion suspends a Virtual Machine that is not explicitly shutdown since in the guest operating system, i.e. When you close the VMware Fusion.app all in a Virtual Machine is running or by clicking the close button in the display of the Virtual Machine window. This behavior can be changed in the General preferences of VMware Fusion and in doing so, it writes the following to the "${USER} / Users / / Library/Preferences/VMware Fusion/preferences ' file.
pref.vmplayer.exit.vmAction = "poweroff"
Yes, VMware Fusion uses 'vmplayer' in this preference and the specific user file is not global. And I do not know if this can be set on a global scale however a login script may ensure that adjustment existed when each user logs on.
The other option is to set the following in the configuration the target Virtual Machine's .vmx file.
suspend.disabled = "TRUE"
