Task Scheduler gives an error "catastrophic failure (Exception from HRESULT: 0x8000FFFF (E_UNEXPECTED)).

I run Windows Vista - 64 bit.

When you open the Task Scheduler, I get 2 exceptions:

"The task schedule service is not available." The job scheduling will attempt to reconnect to it. »

and

"Catastrophic failure (Exception from HRESULT: 0x8000FFFF (E_UNEXPECTED)).

I did basic stuff like the restart Task Scheduler service, restart the computer, etc.. Problem persists.

Answers are greatly appreciated.

EDIT: Looking at the services once again, I see that the service is "started" but is more stoppable.

Hi GosuSheep,

Follow the methods and check them off below if it solves the problem.

Method 1:

Scan the file system (CFS) auditor. This command will launch immediately the Windows File Protection service to scan all protected files and verify their integrity, replace all the files with which it detects a problem.

Link, please refer to: how to use the System File Checker tool to fix the system files missing or corrupted on Windows Vista or Windows 7: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929833

Method 2:

Run the disk check in Windows Explorer

a. double-click my computer and then click on the system drive.

b. click on properties, then Tools.

c. sous-verification of errors, click check now. A dialog box that shows the check disk options is displayed.

d. Click to select the automatically fix file system errors check box and then click Start.

e. If you receive the following message appears, click schedule disk check:

f. Windows cannot check the drive while it is in use. You want to schedule the disk check to occur the next time that you restart the computer?

g. restart the computer to start the disk check.

  • Windows vista error - catastrophic failure - error occurred during automatic backup of files

    • Windows vista service pack 2
    • error 0x8000FFFF catastrophic failure code
    • update browser GOOGLE chrome
    • Run the disk check, have also partioned disks (supplied with the new laptop), but still keep on this error

    SOLUTION:

The solution to the problem, I met is the following:

Step 1: RESTART your computer, press F8

Step 2: select the first OPTION (depending on the manufacturer of your computer, it may be first or second, and so on...)

The option is: fix my (the) computer

Step 4: It will load the same in SafeMode (just an example), select your OWN USER NAME (though more are available), log in as an ADMINISTRATOR (if you are the one)

Step 5: It will change into a small window asking you connect by using the command prompt: check this option (this may vary according to manufacturing, but it should be there)

Step 6: Now when you log in you should see X:\Windows\System32 >

Step 7: Change of disk C, D or E (essentially select your disk where the OS is installed)

NOTE: If NO leave are present select your ONE and ONLY by CAR.

If left are, for example: D and E (D contains BONES, E contains - your stuff)

Select drive with OS, i.e. D drive

Step 8: After your decision to step 7, it would look like

    X:\Windows\System32\C:

Step 9: The result would now be C:\ >

SO BASICALLY WE ARE ACCESSING THE HDD FROM OUTSIDE

    Step 10: Type Chkdsk/r/f

Step 11: wait for the results

The first 3 steps will be complete as soon as POSSIBLE, the 4th and 5th stage will TAKE ABOUT 120 minutes (variable, based on the hard drive, the computer specifications and especially your processor)

The result should tell you more about the DEFECTIVE AREAS, indexing ERRORS and similar stuff, and also they could be repaired.

    When finished: TUPE OUTPUT

    At the end of OUTPUT

    and REBOOT

step 12: now even ONCE, go to the BACK UP CENTER, launch a NEW BACK UP, it should work :)

    Hello

Generally, this problem is due to the remote procedure call. This occurs when you have activated the CPP and then if the call is completed, you will get this type of errors. I would like to know some information about this problem so that we can help you further.

    1. have you made changes on the computer before this problem?

2 do you have enabled remote login?

    3. you use any third-party program or app to connect remotely?

I would suggest trying the following methods and check if it works for you.

    Method 1:

Temporarily disable the firewall and security software and check if it helps.

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/disable-antivirus-software
Note: Antivirus software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. In most cases, you should not disable your antivirus software. If you need to disable temporarily to install other software, you must reactivate as soon as you are finished. If you are connected to the Internet or a network, while your antivirus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks.

    Method 2:

Put the computer in a clean boot state, and check if the problem persists. This will help you determine which third-party program or app is causing this problem.

How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista or Windows 7:
    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929135
Note: After the boot minimum troubleshooting step, see the "How to reset the computer to start as usual after a clean boot troubleshooting" section in the link provided to return the computer to a Normal startup mode.

Please reply with the status of the issue so that we can better help you.

    Hello

    Added Scheduled tasks are

"C:\Windows\Tasks" where C: is the drive where Windows resides.

You shouldn't have to deal with tasks that have been added to the default Windows ones.

Tasks need to be added and removed in the Task Scheduler, although the backup registry
using Restore Points create should work. This is because each is assigned a SID.

In the register of scheduled tasks (added) are located in

and several subkeys of this key.

However, whenever I click "shrink volume" on the C drive, after that he tries to allocate, I get an error "catastrophic failure." This error provides no error code or other information as to why it appears. • Task Scheduler is corrupt

After deciding to go back to Windows 7 from Windows 10, my task scheduler gives me a message that the Task Scheduler is damaged or has been tampered with." Y at - it software to correct cela, or should I learn how to manually fix this problem? Help, please.

A popular question with similar cases.

In the MS Community I've ever seen that someone committed Microsoft Support Engineer 'specialist' perfectly understand or resolving the whole issue but it is very hopeful that has worked well in many cases when you understand a little about the problem.

The problem is that when back to Windows 7 sometimes parts of the record of on-demand tasks are restored, but the Windows 10 actual job files are not restored so now there is conflict and that is why corruption - things do not correspond to the top as they should.  The problem of the surfaces usually all initially when people are trying to set up their schedule of the backup again.

The chances are very high that ALL your scheduled tasks are corrupted (about 80 of them), and some of them are pretty important if you want your Windows 7 behave properly.  You can open Task Scheduler and dig into some tasks and see if they are functional or do they also report corruption?

Click the button Start/round and in the type box:

    Task Scheduler

    Choose run as Administrator:

How many tasks is reported as corrupted files?  Each of them?

A nice person Dijji he named has already understood this problem and developed a nifty method/program to correct the report scheduled tasks and people that this method works very well.

It might help to better understand the problem if you read through the House and the Documentation tab first if you can walk through the repair process.  Note that there is a separate tab of Discussion where people report the successes, issues, questions and problems.  The Discussions are useful too when you read them and see what kinds of things people that you meet and how to fix them.

You can read about it here:

    https://repairtasks.codeplex.com/

The community of Windows 7 most of the time the CodePlex method works fine (phew!).

    Examples:

    http://answers.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows/Forum/Windows_7-update/task-scheduler-multiple-image-is-corrupt-or-has/6205cb04-A749-4f4f-A5be-632e01989158

    http://answers.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows/Forum/Windows_7-update/task-image-is-corrupt-or-has-been-tampered-with/2d384c24-ed5c-4958-a531-80c8cce32a66

But if there are questions or problems consider further them in the Discussion tab on their page first (they know what they are doing).

Finally there account that if back to Windows 7 corrupt all your tasks on demand what other things on your system are now afflicted/broken that you do not know yet?  In the future if you have a problem you always go to wonder whether the problem was caused by remnants of Windows 10?

Some frequent contributors in the community of Windows 7 feeling the only way to be 100% sure that your Windows 7 system is is new to back up all your files and folders, whack your hard drive and do a clean/fresh install Windows from scratch, but it's a lot of work.

  • Win7 anomalies__ Task Scheduler

Recently, as soon as I open the Task Scheduler, "" error message: the specified account name is not valid "appears." The same message is displayed for each task. When I "ESC" for each task (the only way to remove the error messages), I find myself where I should go in the first place, and where I see the CorruptionDetector and DecompressionFailureDetector of the tasks have yet again; Neither appears in the active tasks, strangely, so I can't make corrective changes.

The RACTask also disappeared entirely from work, and I don't know how to add it to check the reliability of the laptop. I have run the System Maintenance and no problems are detected. everything seems to work properly.

I simply ignored Task Scheduler in total, you know, the ostrich-head-in-the-sand routine and just go about my business of usual VAIO laptop that I use only for Internet. I thought I would mention it to you, dear friends... see what you think.

Oh, and I downloaded all updates for VAIO Care today only to find that the program is now completely corrupted, useless.

Very strange, huh? Or is my laptop under remote control of crackers?

    Hello

    ·        You are on a domain network?

You can try the steps below and check if this helps solve the problem.
