Tecra 8100, upgrading the BIOS, whitch that hard drive is taken in charge (40 GB)?

Hallo,

I have an old Tecra 8100 one I want to update BIOS. Who knows who is supported (20 GB, 40 GB) hard drive and where can I find the specifications?

Thanks for your information.

Georg

Hello

As I m wrong not the Tecra 8100 does support an IDE HDD controller.
In this case, it should be possible to use the 2.5 IDE HDD.

I can't say much about the formats supported, but the fact is that the size of HDD supported depends on the HARD disk controller. The old controllers IDE up to what the ATA - 5 (also called Ultra ATA/66 or Ultra DMA/66) supported LBA 28 bits, which allows you to use the 120 GB HARD drive max.

Since ATA - 6 (also called Ultra DMA mode 5 or Ultra-ATA100), you can use IDE hard drives of more than 128GB.

So if you want to, you can check your IDE HDD controller using a hardware diagnostic tool (IE Everest home edition). Then you might find out what IDE controller is and what drives are supported.

See you soon

    Hey

I have one in my possession and I wanted to make a good game.

I don't know if I'll be able to cause. It hurts thinking may be able to put a processor duo or quad, and I do not know if the CPU will be able to support a really good graphics card, and I also think about changing hard drive.

Any1 know what hard drives are compatible with what I can use which are good for games?

    Hello!

I m wondering that you want to upgrade this old notebook. In my view, that a new laptop would be a better solution.

On the CPU and GPU upgrade I can only say s is not possible and not Toshiba support. The GPU is soldered on the motherboard and t can be exchanged.
I think you should read this: http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/TSB9401AX0001R01.htm

The HARD drive can be upgraded. This isn t a problem.
AFAIK the A35 Satellite is equipped with a s IDE HDD and this means that you buy a drive HARD IDE interface up to 128 GB.

  • How to upgrade the BIOS without a floppy drive?

    Hello

I'm trying to update my BIOS using my CD player. I have an IBM Thinkpad 600E

The latest version on the Lenovo site is an exe which requires a floppy disk. Given that I don't have a floppy drive, no idea how to get this created on a CD as a bootable image? Or is it a different download for the same thing?

    Thank you

    Alex

I'm not sure it's possible, an easy solution would be to get your hands on a diskette. Here's a bargain on the market at TPF.

  • Satellite 2410 won't see the new 250 GB hard drive

I am trying to upgrade the Toshiba 30 GB hard drive that came with the unit to a Western Digital Scorpio Blue 250 GB EIDE drive.
I get out the swap the 30 GB to 250 GB put in a bootable XP SP3 CD version and nothing - no sign that power came to training.
The CDROM is trying to write files on the hard disk, but nothing happens.

Same thing happens when I try to use the pack of 3 CD of Toshiba or the Norton Ghost recovery CD.
The computer does not see the drive. Put the old 30 GB drive and it starts right now.

My BIOS settings show set up for EIDE and boot from the CDROM. What I'm missing?

    Hello

It seems that the BIOS does not recognize the new HARD drive, I suppose that it s too big
Satellite 2410 series is old and I guess that it will not support larger 120 GB HARD drive because of the 28-bit LBA s

So try with the smallest HARD drive like 80 or 100 GB.

  • Upgrading the BIOS on a Tecra M10 but without MS Windows

    Hello!

My Tecra M10 runs OpenSolaris. No windows on this machine. Question is how upgraded the BIOS on this subject? The only file that I found to download is a Windows executable file...
Another way? Such as the creation of a CD or a USB drive?

    Thanks in advance,
    Gilles gravel

And what files you want to save on a CD or USB stick?
Long since Toshiba doesn't offer traditional BIOS update but only the Win version.
What you can try is to contact nearest Toshiba authorized maintainer and ask for help.

They have access to the database of Toshiba and I imagine that they can help you with the update of the BIOS.
You can also exchange of HDD, recovery of installation image, make sure BIOS update and put old HDD with solaris back. Maybe some friend of you HARD drive and you can borrow for this purpose.

  • Tecra 8100 - upgrade RAM

There was a discussion here ("Tecra 8100 - upgrade RAM") on the upgrade memory.
He said that for TECRA 8000 - capacity maximum 256 MB memory (2 x 128). (unlike TECRA 8100 - which can be upgraded to 512)

Does anyone know if the BIOS change may allow 512 MB with TECRA 8000?

    Thanks in advance,

    Hello

I don t think that after updating the BIOS on the Tecra 8000, you will be able to use the 512 MB of memory.
Like you said you can use max 256 MB (2 x 128 MB SDRAM)

  • Upgrading the BIOS. Mobo ASUS P5LP - THE. BIOS of PHX. Tech. of ver.3.16. Pavilion a1620n. Win 7OS.

I have a Hp Pavilion a1620n with a motherboard ASUS P5LP - THE using Phoenix Technologies Bios VER.3.16 and running Windows 7. I want to upgrade the processor and said that I have to upgrade the Bios before upgrading the processor. I have been researching but can't find any info on how to do it for this particular machine. There is no on-board Bios Flash program and I can't seem to find any information. Any ideas?

    AZ_scuba_dude, welcome to the forum.

There is no update software/BIOS for Win7 for the computer.  It is unlikely that there will be a developed.  However, there is a BIOS update for XP.  You will need to do a system restore to the original configuration that includes XP.  Once this operation is complete, you can update the BIOS to version: 3.19.  You can do the update using the executable file (sp35100.exe). Although she did not mention anything about what makes the upgrade of the processor.  Here are the Specifications of the motherboard of the computer.  In the processor upgrade information section, it lists the updates that supports HP.

Please let us know if this solved your problem or not.

  • Upgrade the BIOS laptop won't stop

    Hello

    I have a HP Pavilion Notebook 17

    Product number: E0J89UA #ABA

    64-bit Windows 8

I got a message to upgrade the BIOS.   I did and now when I click close it acts like it is going and the screen goes black but the power light stays on with the light for the F12 airplane mode.  When I opened the laptop, the light is still on.  I can't click with the mouse or press the windows key to wake him up.    I held down the power button to stop it so I can start it up.  Starts fine with no problems.  Does not even say that windows is not shut down properly.

I also had to do the upgrade several times with the BIOS.  It's the F.21AP1 Version when it's time to upgrade the first that he was supposed to restart and it does not.  When I went back to the HP Wizard, it appeared that I needed to update.  It no longer.

    Thank you!

Because it is not turn it off, you can try to disable all items that load at startup, check if maybe a program running in the background is preventing it from closing properly. Follow the instructions here: prevent opening software programs when Windows starts (Windows 8)

If this fails, you might be able to restore the BIOS using this method: restore the BIOS

Let me know if it helps.

  • Satellite S3000 - X 4: upgrading the Bios?

Please can you give me some advice on upgrading my bios for Toshiba Satellite S3000 - X 4. I have read all the instructions on this operation, but unfortunately this notebook is never come with a floppy drive, is there anyway that I can upgrade the Bios, so I can install the video drivers?

I would be very grateful to anyone who can solve this problem for me.

    Hello

    Please visit this site:
    http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/cgi-bin/ToshibaCSG/download_drivers_bios.jsp

You can find a BIOS version 1.6. This BIOS has been changed to 08.01.03

On this site you will find descriptions; How to upgrade the BIOS
    IOS http://eu.Computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/cgi-bin/ToshibaCSG/FAQ.jsp?z=234&service=eu&from=faq_selection&CFID=B & FID = TRO0000000b07

But note; You only put the upgrade of the BIOS if you have serious problems with the laptop and if you 100% know if the BIOS update will solve this issues.
The procedure to upgrade the BIOS isn't very easy. The incorrect procedure may damage the motherboard. In this case, be careful.

  • The maximum size of HARD drive the BIOS sees in Satellite Pro 4200 and 4300 series systems

I want to switch the HARD disk in my Satellite Pro 4340. I know the 4200 and 4300 SP series can take at least a 20 GB HARD drive that I've already updated a SP4270 and SP4280 drives from 20GB already.

I did a search on assignments earlier re. Satellite Pro 4200 and computers portable 4300 series as various other contributors of this forum had already asked this question. A respondent suggested that they had installed a 60 GB HARD disk without problem.

Someone at - it else mounted a big HARD drive (or more even) in these notebooks series 4200 and 4300 and managed to do work OK and had the BIOS to recognize the total size of the HARD drive?

What is the largest swap HDD that someone did with success on these machines of 4200/4300?

Unfortunately, you will not be able to find accurate information about it. All you can find are reports from other users. I am really interested about other views.

By the way: 60 GB HARD drive is not sufficient for you?

  • Satellite A500-1GL - cannot upgrade the BIOS

    Hello

I tried to upgrade the BIOS on my Satellite A500-1GL (PSAR9E) for awhile now, but a dead battery so I can not go beyond the security check at the beginning. Is it all of the way around it, like I'm connected with current alternative, so I don't see what the problem is! Could I have possibly self-extracting zip files.

Any help would be appreciated as this is very frustrating!

    Hello

I think that you will not be able to update the BIOS, if your battery is dead.
Victory based BIOS update can be updated from Windows system, and there is a security option that allow you to update the BIOS only if the laptop is connected to the power adapter and if the battery is charged.

You can update the BIOS using a traditional BIOS version, but as far as I know that Toshiba service partner could do that.

    If you have two options:
Purchase a battery in order to update the BIOS by using win according to BIOS version or you will get in touch with an ASP in your country and will ask you to update the BIOS by using the traditional version of BIOS.

But the BIOS update is necessary to you?

I have a laptop with the old BIOS version and I don't have that day even if the new version has been released.

  • Tecra A10 - update the BIOS does not work on Windows 7

Upgrade the BIOS for TECRA A10/M10 and Satellite Pro S300/S300M to v1.90 version using P0065v190.exe (bios 20090304141534) fails with the message:

"The [error] BIOS update is not taken in charge of operating system. No support for operating system or service pack is installed. »

Note: Running as Administrator returns the same error.

Probably Windows 7 only is not supported but, it must be explicit protection since the release of Vista should work in 7. There is no update setting to jump this protection?

BIOS update is designed and tested for some OS. Win7 is not on the market and now Toshiba offers tested BIOS updated for Vista only.
Sorry, but what else to say. You probably know how supposed BIOS updated and it can be dangerous. So do not play with this and do not untested experimenting with such things.

Win7 will be placed on the market in a few months and Toshiba will start a public support. You can wait a few weeks isn't it?
