Tecra A8-104 - freezes if I think virtualization

Hello world
Howard hardware virtualization problems on my laptop. Processor supports virtualization (Core2Duo T7200) and it is enabled in the BIOS. BIOS is the latest version awailable here (3, 40 - WIN)

Operating system is Ubuntu64 9.10. I have install VirtualBox and configure new virtual machine. If I put it to use virtualization HW (enable VT - x), Philippe VM boot my computer crashes. Hard reboot (power 6 seconds button) is only.
This has been tested on any other operating systems with same efect.
It is believed that this isn't HW support virtualization or there are a few hitches HW which can be repaired / replaced...

Any idea on what could be the problem?

Concerning
kzendra

Hi kzendra,

It would be interesting to know what is happening on the factory settings.

You can test it with an OS preinstalled Toshiba and VMware or Microsoft's Virtual PC?

If the same thing happens here, it seems to be a hardware malfunction :(

  • Tecra R950-104 - can I replace ODD with SSD?

    Hello

Is it possible to replace my DVD drive with an SSD with a HARD Drive Caddy?

My laptop is a Toshiba Tecra R950-104.

    Kind regards

    Luis

    Hello

I found on the internet some UltraSlim SATA HDD/SSD mounting frame that allow the use of 2nd 2.5 HDD/SSD drive instead of ODD in Notepad Tecra R950 but to be honest I m not 100% sure if the BIOS recognize such additional device.

I know that computers Toshiba laptop (Portege and Tecra) series different takes in charge these updates in the past but this replacement was not supported by each laptop model.

It depends on the BIOS and in the event that the BIOS recognize the 2nd HDD/SSD drive, the system should be able to recognize 2nd HARD drive

  • Disk failure HARD Tecra R950-104

    Hello

I have a Toshiba Tecra R950-104 with almost a year.
Everything works fine except the HARD drive.

In this period (almost on the year), I got 2 hard drive failure (hdd 2 had to be replaced!).
Fortunately the issues occurs within the warranty period.

Y at - it problems with this machine, about the drive HARD (it's a 500 GB, 7200 RPM Toshiba HDD).

    Thank you

    Hello

HARD drive problems do not portable but depend on the use of HARD drive and use of portable.
The HARD drive is a wearing part. Sooner or later every HARD drive was going to die.

This problem can occur because the HARD drive is affected by shocks while moving the laptop. In addition, there a lot of different hard drives on the market. Some are less expensive because of the low quality and some HDD cost more because of good quality.

If you keep the eyes on the quality of the HARD drive.
But to be honest, I would never buy a laptop HARD drive. I replaced my HARD drive with an SSD. Its much faster and more sustainable as a HARD drive

  • Tecra A10 - 104 finger print driver for windows 7

    Hello

I just installed Windows 7 on my laptop (* Toshiba Tecra A10-104 *)
It seems that everything works well except the following drivers:

    1 - fingerprint Sensor

    2 PCI Simple Communications Controller

    Can someone help me?

    How to help?
Either you can find the drivers on the Toshiba download page or not.
According to this document - http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/TSB9902P50000R01.htm - Toshiba Tecra A10 will be supported Win7.
This means that all Win7 will be available. If you can't find them, I assume that they will be released soon.

That's all that I can say about it.

  • Tecra M9-104 with docking station - DVI resolution

I wonder if anyone can help. I have a Tecra M9 - 104 running Windows XP. I also have the docking station to go with it. The great thing about the docking station, it's that it can out to two screens as the port on my M5 Replicator could not do.

I bought two identical external screens that have a native resolution of 1440 x 900. I went into the Nvidia display configuration and set up to display both (one is plugged in VGA and one DVI port). However, the display on the DVI monitor is wrong. After further investigation I woke up the menu of the monitor on the screen to see that the resolution actually be issued is 1280 X 1024, despite Nvidia screen saying 1440 x 900 has been the output. Whatever I do, I can't increase the resolution on DVI port.

The only thing I could find on Google and these support forums is that the maximum resolution on the DVI port on a port replicator is 1280 x 1024, but it was for the M1 and M2 series. This laptop is the last series and as such, I expected that the spec had been updated at this time.

    Someone at - it ideas?

Could be due to a limitation of the video driver on the laptop, or you can try to download a utility that requires to use a different resolution, its called Powerstrip (do not have a download link sorry).

Be careful with it though, you can mess up your video driver

  • Can I use the Modem 3 G on my Tecra R950-104?

I have a Tecra R950-104, and when I remove the battery, there is a 3 G Sim Card slot, just like it says in the manual.

The problem is that Windows (Win 7 64 bit) does not recognize any 3G modem in the computer.

So, this means that only some models have the modem, but all have the slot for the sim card?

I have already installed the 3 G Modem driver, downloaded from the Toshiba site, the driver has been installed without any problem, I have a Sim card that works - tested in a 3 G USB Modem - but still I can't do any connection because Windows does not even a modem.

You are right, some models have the 3G module inside and, unfortunately your model does not have it.

  • Tecra S5 - install second operating system using virtualization

    Hi guys,.
can you help me with installing OpenSuse 11 on my Tecra S5 T7700.

I put virtualization in the Bios already, but I have no idea what I should do next.

    Thanks for help.
    Michal

    Hello Michal,

Now, you will need a virtualization program. I use VMware workstation for this and I am very happy with it, because it gives me a lot of options to configure my virtual machines in almost all of the details I need.

I'm doing this for business sometimes, because it now becomes a major role in most companies. But, should I shorten my private a little ;) stuff

Thus, you can use, but you will have to buy it, or another alternative is the Sun's VirtualBox freeware. Just type in google, you will find the right site.

Also tested and got BACK 7.0 too work very fast and WinXP, but never have tried for Linux or other OS, but they try anyway.
The negative aspect of this tool is, you don't have much opportunity to set options, but for a test, it's good.

One of these programs and then follow guides content with programs. Not really difficult to get Linux installed. You must configure a virtual machine and it behaves like real hardware and after, that the installation is almost as easy as with actual devices.

    Go and try.

  • Re: Tecra M11 sudennly freezes and the cooling fan starts to run

My Tecra M11 laptop is running Windows7 and with a broadband dongle Telstra wireless internet lights up and works normally for a period of time.

Sudennly it freezes completely and 5 seconds later the cooling fan starts to run until I power off using the power button.
    Clues?
    Thank you

You must understand that on this virtual path, it is not easy to say what the problem is here.
I can imagine that some background process starts and increase the use of the CPU at the critical level when the motherboard sensors register at higher temperature of the processor and cooling fan starts to run fast enough.

Try to check in the Task Manager, if something like that happen.

I put t know how you have configured your operating system and to applications that run in the background, but also to try to stop treatments that you don't need and change some settings.

  • Tecra A8-158 freezes several times

I use a Tecra A8-158. I bought in February and after that maybe in the first week of use, he got froze up.
I remember that in the first month, that it froze only 2 times, but after that it goes as many times.

Sometimes it works fine for days and sometimes it freezes 2 times a day. When it freezes I m does not have any heavy software, normal use. When it crashes the fan starts to make a little noise.

Is there something I can do to solve the problem?
I don't want to reformat my toshiba.

    Hello

Computer laptop freeze could be caused by a temperature inside the laptop. This overheating occurs because the cooling module does not work with maximum efficiency.
For most dust and debris inside the laptop to prevent fans turn

So try to clean the fans, you could use the hose of the vacuum cleaner against the fan grids but be carefully.
The strong suction can damage fans!

If you n t know how you should ask a technician for professional cleaning of the laptop.

  • Tecra M3 screen freeze

    Hello

Screen of my M3 has been freezing for a while. Keyboard lights and DVD player are still operating, but the fan stops and then starts speeding up after all the 7 seconds and I can't stop it until I forced a stoppage of power supply...

    (1) I reinstalled Windows XP pro sp2 (and then to sp3)
    (2) also to run windiag Microsoft to check the RAM = OK
    (3) re-arranged the chips of RAM 2 x 512 = no change

Still, it freezes and turns irregularly after several minutes or if I try to do the heavy work.

    What is the problem?
They are other tests I could run before you send it for service?

    Thank you

    > Again, it freezes and turns irregularly after several minutes or if I try to do the heavy work
What do you think of this theory:
The temperature affects the RAM and this led to the freezing of the laptop.

Thanks to clogged cooling modules temperature could come at a higher level and could affect the functionality of the laptop.
This happened several times with my laptop.

I cleaned the cooling fans and everything went correctly.
I think you should try this too.
You can use the jet of compressed air to remove dust and debris from the cooling modules.

    See you soon
