Tecra A9 - 12 H: format & reinstall Vista from recovery DVDs

Hello

I think formatting my Tecra A9 - 12H and relocation, but must first some questionas.

(1) there is a hidden partition which Vista doesn't find - Disk manager says he's 1.46 GB EISA Configuration. -What it means, this partition must be left as it is and what its current usefulness?

(2) made the Vista disc supplied with the machine to include all the necessary drivers, or do I have to download these before a format? For example, manuals says that I have to put the Intel Matrix Storage Manager on a floppy and it will tell Vista before installing. Is there something else I need to do before or after the installation like that?

(3) what about the software like Office 2007 and SQL Server 2005 & Norton Internet Security? ID orriger they really want, but I'm not all utilities Toshiba AND WinDVD. How can I get these? I downloaded an update for WinDVD, but the download page, it is said that it is only an update - which needs a version already installed to work.

(4) is there something special on the disk in Windows Vista - is it custom somehow by Toshiba, or is it just a standard disk?

Thank you

Iain

Hello

I will try my best and strive to answer your question ;)

So let's talk number;

(1) the Vista creates the hidden partition on the HARD drive. This hidden partition is necessary for WinRE.
These are backups if something goes wrong with the operating system.

(2) on the Toshiba Recovery CD, you will find the image of Toshiba. The image is a package. It contains the OS (Vista), drivers, tools and utilities.
So if you want to use the recovery CD then everything will install on the HARD disk. You will receive the booklet with the original factory configuration.

(3) I don't know exactly what software was delivered but using the recovery CD, you will get everything preinstalled additional applications.

(4) the Toshiba Recovery CD is not the same as the original CD from MS Vista.
As I said in the previous point, the restore CD contains an image.
MS vista CD is only the OS without additional drivers, tools or utilities!

See you soon

    Hello

I don't have much experience with things... But here's my story:

My sister (Satellite L300 10 q) laptop was running very slow after 2 years of use. Then she tried to reinstall everything to factory settings...
So we did a recovery DVDs with the Toshiba Recovery DVD tool, we started the computer with the disk in it... but nothing happened...

Someone said to start and go to start settings and select CD/DVD to start and so we did.
After that a progress of the installation came...
We had to choose a language and click Next and the system warned us that everything would be removed...
This is no problem, because it has saved his important files on an external hard drive.

After this progress of the entire installation, systems tried restarting, a blue screen came and if it restarts again and again... If we chose not to scan, it kept going on blue screen and reboot...

    We are really powerless...
What has gone wrong? And what can we do about it?

My Toshiba P100-276 Vista Home Premium crashed for the last time, so I bought a new hard drive.
Internal CD player had not worked for some time, but had happened before.
It would always work again when I reinstalled Vista.
    Not now, however.
So my pc - guy installed the new drive and tried to install Vista from my USB - CDRom-drive.
Which has resulted in these messages:

Googleing it, it turns out that you can solve this problem by changing the 'compatibility' mode in the bios, but not in MY bios.

Install a new CD player might settle it, but would be costly and complex at the same time.
I'm writing this using Ubuntu, who btw had no difficulties to install from the external drive.

    All solutions?

In the past, several people have reported the same problem.
Also, are you using the original recovery disk or the Microsoft installation disc?

The simplest solution is to buy the new optical disk drive. You can find it on eBay and it is cheap for this old machine. You can exchange it in 2 minutes, and everything will be OK again.

In the user s manuals document you can find a list of all compatible optical disk drives.
Satellite P100 is a fairly old machine, but if you use the original recovery disk it contains good SATA driver.

    Hi all

My installation of Windows 8 has been corrupted and does not start. So I just want to get the laptop to boot from the recovery DVD or any DVD so I can rebuild.

No matter how hard I press F2, nothing happens and I get "no boot device, press a key." It just takes me to a blank start menu! I tried with what I know to be bootable CD/DVD internally and have used external DVD drives.

I want to just get into the setup to boot from the DVD drive. How difficult that can be. Very far and completely frustrating.

    Any advice or help welcome.

Thank you very much for your time.

    Hello again,

This problem is corrected now strangely. I had tried to start on many drives of type Ultimate Boot with no luck. I jumped in a DVD of Windows 7 which has started loading, but didn't the first time.

I rebooted and then the "F2" worked well. I changed the classic UEFI BIOS got up the menu key to boot at startup and started on the DVD of Windows 7. Load up now very well.

This is nuts. Affect the initial installation of Windows 8 that crashed BIOS/UEFI? I'm old school and both should be completely independent. The operating system should have nothing to do with the computer startup mechanism.

    Thank you very much

    Hello

If xp is preinstalled replace a motherboard must be done in collaboration with the manufacturer of the computer as the OEM license is linked to the original equipment installed on

the xp license dies when the computer dies.

    _________________________________________________

for reassembly, you will have to reinstall XP, then do the upgrade to Vista

Contact the computer manufacturer and ask them to send XP Recovery discs to reinstall the dos operating system as it was when you bought it

they do it for a nominal cost of $

    _______________________________________________

also ask them if you have a recovery partition on your hard drive to get back to the way you bought

you would normally press F8, F9, F10 or F11 or Alt + F10 or 0 to start to start the recovery process according to the manufacturer

Ask them of the exact key sequence

    Hello

I know that this list of facilities is a little confusing for you, but you must understand that there are several different hardware platforms for each series laptop and it is logical that you should not install driver Intel if you have ATI graphics card.

Important is to understand where you need to install display driver. Sorry, but for me this pretty logic is.

About the FN control buttons, I can confirm what the previous forum user wrote. It is a part of VAP. VAP contains several applications. One of them is FLASH CARDS.

HP Pavilion a6722sc, Vista 32 bit operating system.

Could someone please give some advice on

How can I install Vista on the new hard drive?

    / L

If the recovery discs came from HP or they are the ones that you made when the computer is new, then they will (or should) restore the computer to "like new" even on a new hard drive.

My hard drive warns against "imminent failure" can save all data, pictures, music, etc. before the disk dies.

Replace the drive before it dies, and perhaps that the data can be copied to the new disk - or try this:

  • Need to reinstall Vista, but the DvD player does not work

Alright. That is the problem. I installed windows 7 on my laptop because a virus crashed my windows vista and the lost disk. After installing windows 7 my dvd player wouldn't even appear or open. As there is no power going to it. Before installing 7 worked well. I want to downgrade back to windows vista. I had an iso, mounted police and when installed would not let me because the car is not active or something. Went to disk management in the config of the admin and active player. That I reset. When starting it stops saying BOOTMGR is missing press ctrl alt del to restart. I don't know what else to do. Help, please.

Here's how to clean install Vista:

Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.

At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu

  • reinstalling Vista... error message

I had a drive failure drive if I had to replace my hard drive on my laptop.  (Dell Inspiron)  After a long search I found a full install of Windows XP pro version.  My original Setup is Vista.  After installation, I realized that I had no drivers and that it cannot go beyond a game on the computer.  After having looked further, I found my full Vista installation software but trying to reinstall Vista, I get the following message: the partition C system has insufficient free space.  Windows installation needs at least 457 MB of space on that partition to install Windows.  Sufficient free space, and then restart the installation.  Error code 0 X 80070070.  I did the bios thing, but it doesn't always start the software.  Any suggestions will be much appreciated.

  • Problem reinstalling Vista.

I have a Dell laptop, Studio, which is about a year and a half.  I have always used free antivirus programs when I can, until I got this system; It came with a free 15 month subscription for Mcafee AV, so I left, thinking that I could always just uninstall it later if/when I had to.  The subscription has expired 4/30, and I didn't buy a renewal, so I decided to uninstall and get Avast.  I go to the start menu, in the Mcafee folder, there is no link uninstaller here.  I go to the Control Panel, programs, remove programs... There are a few things McAfee listed, but not for the main program.  I then do some research and find that it is not an uninstall program provided with the Mcafee software, I have to download it from their Web site, what I'm doing.

Problem is the uninstall program apparently screwed up a bunch of other things when he got rid of Mcafee.  Random icons are missing and show the generic "windows don't know what this file is" random icon programs do not work, the computer is massively slow and it takes like 6 or 7 minutes to start.  I try to use system restore to revert back to right before uninstalling Mcafee, he is not good at all - every single problem I had before is still happening.

At this point, all I know to do is reinstall windows.  I don't want to make the option it restore as long as the plant, that I don't want to uninstall Mcafee again, so I use the OS disc that came with the system.  When I try to run it, it-error in section files in expansion, saying that it cannot find the necessary files.  I don't stop there, though - I don't remember any of this, please forgive me if this might be a bit out of order. I try to start on the DVD, not a business. try to run the DVD in windows, not a deal; Try the option which is supposed to repair windows (don't remember what it's called, sorry), not a deal. Try the recovery partition, or anyone else that works, not a deal - get an error message which is just a box with a red x and a 'mistake' in the upper part with an OK button on that one.  Run Chkdsk, no errors...  In addition, at some point, this error code has come: "Windows cannot copy the files to E:/sources to C:/windows.~ls/sources. The files may be damaged or missing. Make sure all files required for installation are available, and restart the installation. Error code 0 x 80070017.  I'm sorry I can't tell you what steps he took, but I think it's the DVD of the OS when I booted directly to that.

As I typed this, I tried to get the system restore go as far in as possible time, but it's exactly the same as before, only now he has Mcafee again.  I did some research about this error code and the general consensus seems to be that it was a problem with a DVD SATA drive conflict any... most of the people solved the problem by using their different DVD player - problem is, I don't have another DVD player, unless I put the disc in my office and run it somehow on my laptop.

I apologize for my length, I am so frustrated with this thing.  I want only to run smoothly and not have funky small icons scattered around and I've been playing with it for 2 days and it did not help one iota.  I'll stop whining now and here are some details:

Series of Dell Studio 1536-144 p, AMD Turion 64 X 2 Dual - Core Mobile RM-74 (no idea what that means, it's on the label that the computer was in--Yes, I recorded it), 4 GB memory, 320 GB of HDD, Slot - loading DVD +/-RW, wireless 802. 11 b / g mini integrated graphics ATI Radeon HD 3200, Vista Home Premium 64-bit and it was Mcafee Security Center, which caused all the trouble.

Is there anyone out there who (lasted through this rant and) can help me, please?

ETA: I forgot to say that I kept windows updated religiously.
