Tecra M1: No BONES don't-> XP gone - PXE - E61: Media test failure

Please can someone help me because I am at a total loss.
I recently bought a second hand Tecra M1 and when I started for the first time, Xp did not start at all.

This is what came on the screen:

Seeking to establish the link...
PXE - E61: Media test failure, check cable of
PXE - M0F: Exit Intel Boot Agent.
Insert system disk in drive.
Press any key when ready...

Already, I have a copy of Windows xp pro, but cannot load anything on the laptop.
I need some kind of boot or rescue disc?

Please help, I'm about to tear my hair.
Thank you all.
Byron.

Hello

I agree with danydemaeseneire
You should first check if the right Boot order (ODD, HDD, etc.) has been in the BIOS. If the LAN is set to the first position, then you must change this!
To access the BIOS please use the ESC and then F1 keys.

Another possibility is that the OS does not exist on the HARD disk. In this case, you need to install the operating system.
Press the C or F12 key immediately after turn computer laptop to boot from the CD.

Good luck

    Hello

I have a Tecra 9100 and I got it at low cost and hoping to make it work for my son to do his homework on but its got a problem.

First he came without a hard drive (on order) then when I turn it on I get + media test check the cable failure then it stops.
I ve disabled boot from LAN and set the default Bios and tried to boot from the CD drive that starts to install ok (I know he won t get far because I ve without HARD drive)

But he died just completely sometimes in the beginning, sometimes at half way.

One can shed some light on the subject.

    Thanks rob

Maybe its overheating? Search for dust in the radiator. You can blow the dust using a can of compressed air.

Also test the memory. You can get memtest www.memtest.org and put it on a floppy disk or a CD.

"When I start the computer it keeps restart indefinitely, it is not answered none of F8 and do not accept any CD I get into the BIOS and ask from CD, but without success.

"I went into the BIOS and something and now he told me

I'll try to get my hands on him by phone today so I can get a better description of the problem. But maybe some of you know what could be the problem.

    Thank you

    Hi Daniel,.

The message that appears during the startup process, which would indicate that is the boot sequence is incorrect and the laptop tries to start from a lan device, or there is a problem with access to a HARD drive or bootable CD.

I first try to access the BIOS boot screen (press ESC as soon as appears the screen flash Toshiba) and check that the initial MESSAGE is successful, then access the BIOS (F2) Setup and carefully check all the settings to ensure they are compatible with the laptop.

Finally, I would like to check the boot sequence so that CD-ROM followed by HARD drive as the first two points. (You can of course put HDD first, I prefer just CD first me).

  • I want to do a drag and drop but don't want it to be a test

    Hello

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    I use 7 Captivate.

I want to do a drag and drop but don't want it to be a test. It comes to brainstorming - not a test.

None of the elements of drag are correct or incorrect - they are just ideas. For example, the 20 items can be different things, that you might put in your suitcase for the holiday. There is not a lot of answers - just your preference.

There are 20 items to drag. He slide only one target. All 20 items may go to this target 1 drag.

I don't want the learner to have to drag all the elements of the target in order to finish. For example, the learner can omit 3 items because learners don't like these elements. I want that the learner must be able to hit submit (or any other button) at any time and go to the next slide immediately, not obliged to complete the drag and drop. Any ideas?

    Thank you!

Set the actions on the success and failure to continue or to go to the next slide.

Ensure that the number of retries is set to 1 and infinity is not checked.

Remove the legend of failure to simply remove this legend of the slide or the deselection of the failure Caption box.

  • Why did Microsoft keep "to abandon" OS and introduce the new OS when they old BONES don't ever work in the first place?

VISTA seems to be the MOST aggrevating experience.  Then came "Windows 7" and is now at the forefront "Windows 8" when THEY have NEVER ABORDE LES PROBLEMS WITH VISTA AND WINDOWS 7, now they'll introduce Widnows 8.

Can someone explain to me (with a VALID point) as to WHY Microsoft keeps "to abandon" is the customer base loyalty and introduce NEW operating systems and they never solve the problems that were in the 'old BONES '...

A Mac can get a virus.  There are too many users stupid that click on stupid things like Windows.  What he does not (but longer) is market share and thus an economic reason to attack him.  But to say that he "' not get virus, sorry, it can and it has too many flaws.  It doesn't just have the ecosystem of the attacks.  If a tree falls in the forest and nobody is there to hear it, it falls really?  If a vulnerability to a Macintosh system don't get coded upward, because there is more targets in the Windows world, this actually means that a Mac can't catch a virus?

Wait until the Mac have economic objectives and equivalent market share so that they are equal and then we'll come back to this thread and make that call.

Do you mean the difference between the Windows and Mac operating systems?  As PC does in fact mean personal PC - and Macintosh based computers are PCs.

The EXACT difference with regard to the operating system is that Mac is based on the core Unix - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_Mac_OS_X so that Windows is the C and C++ language based as I understand it.  http://StackOverflow.com/questions/380988/what-programming-language-was-Windows-Vista-programmed-in

That's like asking what EXACTLY the difference between the German and the French language.  They are different orgins, different codes.

The current Mac OS was actually bought by Apple because they need a new OS - purchased from Steve Jobs, who had been expelled from the Apple and then begins.

Both are operating systems that follow the orders given to him by the man, written by humans, who need updates for adding features, and the security fixes for when they are not exactly what they intend to do.

  • BlackBerry Smartphones can set the home screen to display all icons and don't go into the Favorites, Media, downloads etc.?

I just got a Bold 9780 and that's fine except that when I try to access the icon I want, I keep accidentally swipe the screen in a different position, he's going to 'All' in 'Favorites', 'Media', "downloads,"Frequent"then back to 'All'. My only previous, 9700, just had all the icons on the screen and did not have these alternative schemes. I find it quite disconcerting and want to fix to display ALL icons of all time. Cannot find how to do this.

I know what you mean.  You can do this in OS7, but I think not only its available with OS6

  • Problem starting on Tecra M9

PXE - MOF: exit Intel boot agent

I should also add that it happened once my computer had deflected while I was watching a movie and since then it has not restarted.

Basically, I was wondering if it was a clear signal of a specific hardware malfunction or if I have to take to a repair shop to find out.

    Hello

Start the laptop it will be checked that peripheral startup is defined as the first. If there is some problem will be then checked the second and so on.
For most HARD drive is defined as optical drive first one, as a third and so on. There is also a LAN device and this message, you see on the screen is that mobile phone evidence trying to start using LAN device as a boot device.

To be honest I don't know what the problem is here, but it turns out that all the devices listed in front of LAN cannot be used as a boot device. The question is why HARD drive cannot be used as device startup.
For some reason your Tecra cannot access HARD drive.

HARD drive is recognized correctly in the BIOS settings?
If you have some CD or DVD bootable (Linux or Windows install disc), check if the HARD disk is visible/available for installation.

  • Portege R700 - SSD installation: a succesfull and the other failed

For what it's worth I just short wants to share my learnings SSD:

    1. I bought a Newton GTX 500 GB Corsair for my R700 (i5, W7). Looked to work ok after normal cloning, but often the PC froze and I couldn't restart it. Only way to continue was to force its rotation down with the power button. I've always had this message when starting:

+ PXE - E61: Media test failure, check cable for. +
    + PXE - M0F: exit Intel Boot Agent. +
+ Insert system disk in drive. +
+ Press any key when ready... +.

Only way to go was to force down once again and then the Pc may start and open windows. I've updated all the drivers I could think of-including Intel - but the problem persisted. Please note that this happened at the time with no systematic behavior, at least what I could understand.

    2. I got cold feet for this behavior and I bought a new R930, exchanged relative small with a bigger Samsun 840 Pro 500 GB SSD HARD drive. No problem, works very quickly and smoothly!

    3. I can now reinstall Windows 7 on the older R700 with the Corsair SSD - and now this machine works without any of the oldest problems, but I Don t understand.

Any of you have seen something similar?
    / Anders

    > Anyone of you seen something similar?

Of course. PXE - E61: Media test failure, check cable error is displayed because the laptop has attempted to boot from LAN.
Usually, this happens because of faulty HARD drive.

    > 2. I got cold feet for this behavior and I bought a new R930, exchanged relative small with a bigger Samsun 840 Pro 500 GB SSD HARD drive. No problem, works very quickly and smoothly!

I n t have this laptop Portege but I ve bought the same shape of my laptop Tecra SSD drive.
After cloning, the data on the drive to SSD drive using the software, which was part of the SSD HARD drive package, start the laptop much more quickly. I m very satisfied.

Which CD you want to use for BONE repair?

Akuma is right. This message occurs if the laptop can not boot from optical disc or HARD disk drive. Then automatically seek next boot device and it's LAN. This message is typical for the start of LAN (cable not connected).

I look forward to your reply! Thank you!

At first, I must say it's really strange that something like this happens so suddenly. It seems that your laptop can not find the HARD drive as a boot device.

Start please your laptop, then press F2 to enter the BIOS settings. Check it please on the first page if the HARD drive is recognized and registered correctly. If Yes check it please boot option in the BIOS and don't forget HARD drive is set as the first boot device.

Please post some info on the status of the BIOS and the HARD drive.
