Tecra M10: Intel Proset Prelogon fail

I have a Toshiba Tecra M10, which has an Intel(r) WiFi Link 5100 AGN inside.

I have wireless installation before opening of session with Intel proset software worm 12.2.

When I cold start and try to connect immediately he failed to open a session.
If I'm cold starts, wait 10 minutes, it connects fine.

Any ideas what could be causng this?
Is there something to load before I login?

I inquired with Intel too and waits for a response. By covering just the basics!

Hey Montana

Can you please try it for me?
Can you check the WLAN functionality if you enable mode 802.11 g only?
This connectivity problem there?

    Hello Christmas

You can try to remove Inter PROSet and use the Windows settings for WLAN configuration.

I don't have this problem, but you can also try installing the latest version of the Toshiba support page.

  • Tecra S3 - Intel PROSet/Wireless window does not respond after changing settings

Given that I've updated the driver and the utility Intel PROSet version 9.0.4.17 driver and tool PROSet to version 10.5.0.1 for Intel BG2200 WLAN card to build-in the PROSet tool window freezes every time after that I changed a parameter (for example, by adding a new profile).

Closing the window with ALT - F4 also does not work unless you kill the process in Task Manager.

Is this a known problem or is there any group of fixes for the driver or the Intel PROSet tool available?

    Hello

The ProSet utility is a clean product Intel and if there are updates you find on the Intel Web site.
But in my opinion, there is only a corruption of installation.
How do you install this app? Have you removed the old version first?

I think that if you want to update the programs, you must always first remove the old version and then after reboot of the new laptop, you can begin the installation of the new version.

You could use additional own program register as a CCleaner. It s a freeware application and it checks the registry for some corruptions.

  • Difference between Tecra M10 and Tecra A10

    Dear forum
    The above says everything really.

I see the two look identical, but one is smaller. These two models are different in other ways please.
    Ian

Of course, the two laptops are different.
There are different models Tecra A10 and there are different units Tecra M10.

    For example:
    Tecra * A10-13 b * supports Intel GM45 chipset and an Intel Core 2 Duo P8400 2.26 GHz CPU.

    Tecra * A10 - 1 2 * supports an Intel Core 2 Duo T9600 2.80 Ghz CPU Intel GM45 chipset

You can find details of different laptop models left here:
    http://www.Toshiba.EU/discontinued-products/
Then, you can compare all the pieces of hardware.

  • How much memory can I mount in a Tecra M10 - 1CN?

How much memory can I mount in a Tecra M10 - 1CN and should be in two 200 pin SO DIMM DDR2 PC2-6400 800 MHz modules

    Hello

Expand the memory depends on the chipset of the motherboard
The Tecra M10 supports the chipset Mobile Intel GM45 Express and this chipset DDR2 800 MHz RAM 8 GB max

So first of all, that you can use 2 x 4 GB RAM modules, and on the other hand the speed of memory is limited to 800 MHZ.

Even if you use faster modules i.e. 1033 Mhz FSB would clock speed to 800 Mhz so it s not worth to use faster than the DDR2 800 Mhz modules

    Cordially, Harald know.

I can't say with certainty if this mini PCI module would be compatible.
Always is the TECRA M10 is equipped with Intel GM45/GL40? Cantiga (G) MCH? North Bridge, Intel ICH9M as South Bridge and R5C847 as a controller of the card.

The two Mini-PCI card slots are used for 3G or Intel Turbo Memory and WLan
Some models support Intel Turbo Memory.
Intel Turbo Memory (Robson) PCI Express Mini Card slot 2 and also some models are equipped with a 3G PCI Express Mini Card type card in slot PCI Express Mini Card 2.

  • Upgrade CPU to Tecra M10 - 13Z PTMB0E-01400LGR

Hi, I want to improve my Tecra M10 with the CPU max supported. In fact, I have the Core Duo processor T5670 installed. Can someone give me info on the capabilities of the M10?

    Thank´s in advance.

    Concerning

    Astra

    Hello

Theoretically, you can use a CPU that is supported by the chipset.
As far as I know the laptop supports the Chipset Mobile Intel GM45 Express.
So you can see the Intel Gm45 Mobile Intel properties page and what would the supported processors.

In general CPU upgrade a tricky thing but is stronger CPU produces more heat dissipation and could lead to overheating.
In addition he s not 100% sure that BIOS would support the new processor.

I also found this nice doc from Toshiba:

  • Tecra M10 does support VT?

    Hi all

I have a Tecra M10 - 13 K 8 GB RAM (PTMB0E-01600LGR) BIOS V2.10 with Intel T5870 CPU (which is not taken in charge VT). My Chipset is Intel GM45 Express.
I want to install Ubuntu 9.10 (64 bit) with VMWare Server 2.0.x and create Virtual Machines with Windows 7 (64-bit) and Ubuntu 9.10 (64-bit).

But my CPU does not support the VT!

Now, I want to buy Intel CPU T7250 and replace my old CPU. Would this work? The BIOS must support the? Do I need a new Version of BIOS?

    Thank you and best regards,

    Hello

First of all you cannot use virtual technology if the processor does not support this feature.
Second, the replacement of the CPU is not desirable and often delicate!
The BIOS has not been tested with a different CPU, and no one can tell if the laptop would be stable after an upgrade of the CPU.

Take a look at this Toshiba doc:

  • Tecra M10 cannot install OS using disc SSD Kingston

    Hi all.

I am a computer tech and can usually find a way to fix something myself, (rock Google!).

But recently I had a Kingston SSDNOW 64 GB drive and decided to install in my Tecra M10 age of 12 months. 4 weeks ago I had a full head of hair, now I am completely bald.

The drive is recognized in the BIOS, but whenever I try to install Windows on it, I get nothing. I tried the recovery DVDs XP, recovery DVDs Vista The, the "free" upgrade Windows 7 recovery DVD, and a DVD Vista & Windows 7 retail. I can't drive to be recognized to install Windows.

I can copy the existing disk image, but it starts the splash screens and blue. Normally I think that driver RAID or hard disk controller, but Kingston assures me that there is no requirement on the one hand, (and a standard SATA drive does not require a, I tried).

I checked and installed the latest version of the BIOS for laptop. There is no update available for the SSD firmware. So I find myself with a laptop that always uses a slow, (relatively) hard drive and a very pretty silver rectangular Clipboard.

Can anyone think of anything whatsoever that I missed. Anyone working for Toshiba can tell me if there is a BIOS update for this problem (I search the forum and found many people who are struggling for SSDS working in Toshiba laptops)?

The sad thing is that the former other laptop I got for my son accepts the player and works fine!
I had many prefer to buy Toshiba, but I want SSD technology rather sooner than later, and if Toshiba does not go to support, I might have to change of Lenovo or Acer.

    Rob.

    > Normally I would RAID driver or controller hard drive, but Kingston assures me that there is no requirement on the one hand, (and a standard SATA drive does not require one, I tried).

I think you have misunderstood something the SSD drive does not need SATA drivers BUT the fact the OS (Win XP, Vista or Win 7)!

The SATA drivers are needed to recognize the HDD/SSD under Windows OS.
New generation of portable supports the new SATA controllers that require SATA drivers.

You will find on the European driver Toshiba Intel Storage Manager page

Intel Storage Manager contains the SATA drivers that are required to install the OS.

    Welcome them

  • Tecra M10 and Express Port Replicator, no DVI to Toshiba 20 "LCD output

    Hello

As the bed of the subject line, I will put up a new Tecra M10 with the Express Port Replicator and monitor LCD Toshiba Tekbright 20 ".

The system works on Windows XP, and the ordinary VGA connection on the port replicator works fine when connected to the external LCD.

However, there seems to be no way to get the DVI interface on port replicator, working on the LCD.

I tried to run this utility, and it does not detect the DVI monitor at all.
    http://www.entechtaiwan.com/util/moninfo.shtm

I have updated graphics drivers Intel for XP, form the Web from Toshiba site and also have the latest version of the BIOS.

    Any ideas?

    Thank you very much
    Paul

    Hello paul

Your Tecra M10 has DVI port?
Replicator port is not some sort of converter and it will be just a loop through the signal directly from the laptop.
If the computer laptop doesn t supports DVI output you cannot expect to get signal from the port replicator.

  • Tecra M10 - 17 H no support DVI via docking station not

There is already a message asking this, but I wanted to point out that it is a problem affecting more than one user.

Too, I bought a Toshiba laptop for my business as it was supposed to be a laptop a serious matter. However, I must say that I am losing confidence that Toshiba understands what needs a company.

The docking station is frankly a joke. USB KVM will not work with it, probably, there is no PS2 port you can not use a KVM PS2 instead. Even if you could, the VGA dock does not detect the external VGA is present when there is a KVM. Of course, the answer is "simply" open up the laptop and set it up on the Panel, then switch to external whenever you turn it on. How can anyone think that is a response in a business, or any other environment is beyond me.

Now, I find that my laptop has an Intel graphics card I can't use the DVI port on the dock either. Which is really annoying, is that I could buy a laptop at half price, but wouldn't because I wanted a laptop class business that disintegrates not in respect of the use. I didn't pursue a fantastic graphic option because I did not doing anything fancy either, but graphics without the supported DVI via the dock is just simply ridiculous.

Now, I regret bitterly, to get rid of the old Dell D/Dock that although several years worked without fault and with DVI, with any old KVM and without any problems at all.

Sorry for the mug shot, but I am bitterly disappointed that I bought a cheap puppy that I can't afford to write off for a good while yet. Meanwhile despite works well when it works, the laptop is a right royal pain to use when the dock is therefore unnecessary.

    What to tell boyfriend
Is a really nice laptop Tecra M10 and Portégé series and series Tecra laptop computers Bussines there.

But it seems that the DVI port on the Port Replicator Port Express is supported only on computers with ATI graphics card or nVidia.

    I found this Toshiba document:
    http://APS2.toshiba-tro.de/KB0/TSB7B0201000CR01.htm

It s on Tecra A9 but maybe that it s a Tecra M10-related too

  • Tecra M10 - 1 H 4 - change shared video RAM worth?

    Hello

I have a Tecra M10, with the standard 2 GB of RAM, I also added an extra 256 MB of available RAM slot. Can I change the value of RAM shared graphic? In the properties of XP Pro, I can see that it is fixed at 1024MB which is stupid because I only 2.25 GB in the machine.

I can't locate any settings even in the BIOS, where I thought I could change it. It's a mobile graphics chip Intel GMA 4500MHD. Any help is appreciated...

I also seem to get some horrible slow down on the laptop too, when I have about 10 different windows open, (be it the same application or different) when I switch to another window/application from time to time I have to wait for the laptop to redraw the new window very slowly?

I updated the driver too - claims I'm on: 6.14.10.4953

    See you soon

    TC

    Hey Buddy,

No, you can change the video memory value of t. Everything will be controlled automatically and there is no value in the BIOS or the display driver where you can change it.

Video RAM depends on the RAM you are using on your laptop. Increase system memory values for the available total graphics memory, decided video memory and shared system memory will be higher.

So, to get more video RAM upgrade your laptop with more system RAM.

  • Tecra M10 - update of the BIOS says "this computer is not supported.

Recently refurbished a M10 - 10I to reinstall the operating system. WinXP install at all so I try to update the BIOS as it seems quite old (V1.5). Most recent version (and is available) for this machine seems to be V3.0. Download and try to run the file "P0065V300" and get the message:

Package for the TOSHIBA BIOS ver.3.3.0
    This computer is not supported

What can I do? Its supposed to be for this model!

Also, prefer a version of boot drive, but hey, I can use a version of Windows, assuming that it runs on Win7.

    Hello

Tecra M10 - 10I belongs to the series of PTMB1E and according to the page of the Toshiba UE driver, BIOS v3.00 - WIN is the latest BIOS version which is available for this model.

The BIOS update requires a few additional tools Toshiba as VAP (additional package for Win 7)

If this driver isn't installed, the update of the BIOS would not work.

  • Tecra M10 - stuck - CTRL key question may be to do with the BIOS?

    Hello and thanks for reading.

I recently changed my Tecra M10 to Windows 7 (from XP), and it quickly developed the dreaded question-button stuck CTRL This causes the keyboard behaves as if the CTRL key is pressed continuously. Sometimes reaching a key combination, or bring up the on-screen keyboard, temporarily solves the problem, but he returned.

It seems to be a problem that many people have no simple solution. I watched each thread that I find and tried a lot of things to do with drivers etc without success.

So first of all, if anyone knows a remedy that works for this particular machine, I would be very grateful to hear!

Then, there are two things that I did not yet: updating the BIOS and turn off pinch zoom.

I was watching the following BIOS update:

    http://www.Toshiba-Asia.com/SG/support/drivers/details/25244

... which is the version 3.00 and seem to be more recent. My version is 1.90.

However, version 3.00 is labeled "for PTMB0 * ONLY. I don't know what that means or if it applies to me. Can anyone help? Should I install this BIOS?

For the pinch zoom, I was informed that disable sometimes cures the problem CTRL - but I can't find any installation zoom pinch on the M10. I think he doesn't have any one. Is this fair?

Thanks much for any help you can give.

    Hello

    > I was watching the next BIOS update. is the version 3.00, which seems to be most recent. My version is 1.90.

There are different Tecra M10 models on the market.
Check the labels at the bottom of the unit. There you should find numbers like for example PTMB0E-01K00LGR

The first 6 characters are important: for example PTMB0E

I guess that your laptop belongs to the series of Europeans.
In this case, you should check the page of the Toshiba UE driver for a possible update of the BIOS.
    http://www.Toshiba.EU/innovation/download_drivers_bios.jsp

However, on the page of the Toshiba UE driver you will also find the BIOS for all European units Tecra M10 v3.0.

Anyway, back to Ctrl + button question: guess what, you need to connect an external USB keyboard and must check how is the CTRL key.
In case the USB keyboard would work properly, the internal keyboard CTRL key is assigned and you will need to replace the internal keyboard.

PS: it would be possible that the "sticky keys" option has been activated. To disable this feature, you must press SHIFT 5 times in the line.
