TECRA M4 - replacement DVD-ROM/CD-Writer with DVD burner

Hello

I bought a DVD burner - Slimline - PLEXTOR-PX-608AL > to replace the original CARPET * A-> UJDA750 DVD/CDRW. After exchanging the drive, I had a "Select by mistake" - message during start-up and the drive was not recognized by Windows XP. Can you all please give me some advice on

a.) compatible (means without necessary changes as the firmware update or bridging of contacts) 3rd party DVD Burner for these M4 Tablet PC readers

or (much better)

(b) talk to me about his experiences with the bridge the relevant contacts (as mentioned in several other messages) to convert to the first drive not compatible a compatible.

Because I like PLEXTOR and I really want to use it in my pretty M4...

Thanks in advance-

Andrew +.

Hello

In my opinion the new CD/DVD drive doesn t work because it s is not compatible due to bad settings master/slave/C-salt.

The point is that these parameters can be changed using a jumper. The firmware controls these parameters and therefore not all CD/DVD players are compatible.

My user's manual contains all compatible with my laptop CD/DVD players.
Maybe you should take a look in you user manual for details on compatible players.

If you don't get any what s information on supported CD/DVD players then contact ASP in your country and guys should be able to tell what drive s are compatible.

Good bye

  • Satellite 5200 801: how to replace DVD burning drive?

    Hello
A few days ago, I decided to replace my CD/DVD burning drive (burn DVD at 1 x) with a more faster and more modern.
The problem is that, while turning on my laptop, it stops without any error message, as if she could not recognize the hard drive, so there is no professional Windows startup (problem of configuration master / slave?).
I tried with two different burning drives and I also upgraded the BIOS of the laptop to version 1.40 (date 17/04/2003), but there was no result.
    Help me thanks

    You guessed it right,

    It's a question of master/slave/CS.
Find out your old drive (firmware DI has something like 170) and try to locate the sense of them (current setting of M/S/CS) of it through the Internet on specific DVD player forums.

Then determine WHAT type of disc, you will need to buy to make it work on your computer (or find the firmware suitable for do this... you'll need a different laptop that DOESN'T RECOGNIZE the DVD drive in the State, it is now).

DVD Slimline portable computer readers usually do not come with a rider to make this adjustment (M/S/CS) on your own but are set with the internal firmware for this. There are other ways on how to get it to work (to force a shortcut on the back of the card), but I would not go for it if I were you.

  • Satellite M30: Replace DVD with additional HARD disk?

    Hello!

As my Satellite M30-642 does not offer a modular Bay for the installed switches and I have a DVD burner for USB that I can use I think try an experiment: withdrawal of the DVD drive and replace it with an extra HDD/SSD.

As SSDS are very light, have no moving parts and does not necessarily need screws to be installed and the slot DVD brings the IDE and this could work to power connector. The DSS must be placed inside an old and updated the slimline cd-rom so that the change is not visible and the laptop is safe from dust etc.

Has anyone tried something like this before? Are there solutions to buy for Sat M30 (2004 vintage)?

    Cheers, obreitfelder

    Hello

As far as I know the Sat M30 doesn t support the slim select Bay and, therefore you cannot use this adapter instead of the CD/DVD drive.

    Sorry, it is not possible

  • Replacement DVD - Rom is Dell Optiplex 7010

I wanted to replace my ROM with a DVD burner. This 7010 uses an optical drive that seems to be the size found in laptops. Most of the models of Dell would work for me?

  • Tecra M3 recovery DVD-ROM

    Hello

I just bought a brand new M3 in Germany and unfortunately found out that the operating system and the restoration of DVD - ROM is both in German. I contacted the support hotline just to hear that, as I bought it in Germany I could only receive a replacement DVD in German (and no possibility for me to order the DVD in another language... :-( Does anyone on this forum knows how to receive the restoration of DVD - ROM in English

    Any advice is welcome

    Serge

    Hi Serge,

I believe that the terms of licensing for versions of Windows XP OEM it avoid else that distributed in the original language.

You can however buy a real English Microsoft Windows XP installation disc and install on your laptop, then you can download tools and utilities from the web site of Toshiba UK.

  • What dvd burner is compatible with Tecra A2

    Hello

I want to know what dvd burners are compatible with my tecra A2 because I bought a dvd burner and does not work with the tecra A2 (IDE1 #error).
There is nothing about it in the manual.

    Can you help me?
    Thank you.

This #error IDE1 appears because of the evil master\slave\c-salt settings.
All Toshiba slim line discs works in cable (CSEL) default selection mode. In other words, the player receives a signal from the laptop it say if it needs to act as a master or a slave device on the IDE channel.

Some portable computers on the market do not work according to this specification, but use the way inverted CSEL signal to save a bit of power electric. If you are installing a drive running in standard CSEL mode in such a laptop, the inverted signal will require to work evil master/slave mode giving the reader the logical address as the hard drive installed on the same IDE channel. Accordingly, the optical drive, HARD drive or both cannot be detected by the BIOS and is not usable. Some laptops may display an error message at the start, for example 'IDE #1 error"or similar.

In some user manuals, you can find information about compatible CD/DVD players.
    Did you check that?

If you find any details on a compatible player then contact ASP in your country for info. You can also order such driver of these guys here.

  • Not found DVD Maker "DVD burner" message when DVD writer works well with other programs

    Hello

I just created a DVD with AVS Video Converter and burned a DVD with no problems and created later a film with Windown Movie Maker, which worked well, it has exported to Windows DVD Maker, again not a problem, but when I click on burn, I get a not found message "DVD burner". How can I fix, I know the burner works very well because it works with other programs... And Windows DVD Maker was working fine until recently and outside a updated Windows Vista, I did not further updated or changes to the computer.

    Thanks for your help!

    Hi Froggie_UK,

Since this problem you encounter began after that windows update, you can use the System Restore tool to return your computer to an earlier point in time. The tool using System Restore may not necessarily help you determine the problem. When you use system restore to restore the computer to a previous state, the programs and updates that you have installed are removed.

Before you start Please back up your data

To restore the operating system to an earlier point in time, follow these steps:

    ·         Click Start, type System Restore in the search box, and then click System Restore in the list programs. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type your password or click on continue.

    ·         In the System Restore dialog box, click choose a different restore point, and then click on Next.

    ·         In the list of restore points, click a restore point created before you started having the problem, and then click Next.

    ·         Click Finish.

    ·         The computer restarts and system files and settings are back to the State they were in when the restore point was created.

If it is an update, the best way to solve this problem is to apply only updates one at a time to determine which updates is causing this problem.

Click on start-> all programs-> Windows Update, click on change settings in the left menu. Select download updates but let me choose whether to install them, click OK. When you are alerted to install a new update, in this window, click updates see, uncheck all updates and select one at a time, install it, restart your computer, test and update. Once you find the update either continue to ignore it, or look for it at http://support.microsoft.com/.

We hope this resolves the issue and look forward to hearing back from you on your results.

    Hello Dario

Well, first of all, you must check the BIOS settings. As far as I know the configuration of the device must be set to the OS installer.
Then it s advisable to reinstall the operating system. In this case, you must use the CD recovery or the original version of Microsoft Windows. All the necessary drivers, which you can download from the Toshiba site

  • The Qosmio G10 DVD burner replacement

My DVD burner was unable to get out and must be replaced. It is a UJ - 831S. I bought the same one, but I got an error of CD-ROM at the beginning upward. I tried this new CD-ROM on another laptop (Toshiba Satellite 2800-300) and it worked fine. I think I have a problem with the configuration of my DVD burner (c - select, master...). Do you know if can change the firmware of my DVD writer?
    Thanks in advance,
    Alain

    Greetings Alain,

Yes, the problem here is the ID of engraver of DVD (CSEL) UJ - 831S. You must have the carpet * a DVD burner connected to the secondary IDE Atapi port as a master flash.
Probably your G10 is recognizing as an oucederomsurlesecondport IDE IDE slave secondary.
Unfortunately there is no firmware to change the internal Atapi drive ID.
You can ask Toshiba for the firmware, but I think that they will not give him to you.
The best thing is to share the UJ - 831S for the carpet * 831B - UJ part number: P000409790 Qosmio G10 model: PQG10U-00Y00L,.
Please confirm first if your G10 model.
When you go to the Exchange, please ask them to first test the DVD player. Better not make mistakes, here.
All of these discs are Panasonic (mast * one) corporation.

    Good luck

    Hello

You have disk problems as the CD/DVD is actually 4 discs in 1 case (CD & DVD burning and)

    A CD/DVD cleaner 'could' help.

CD/DVDs have a tolerance + - and your can read/write on the edge outside these discs

  • Updated by Satellite Pro 6000 with a DVD burner - technical question

Hi all, I just bought a DVD burner that is adapted to the Bay of selection to replace the old DVD player...
He came 'naked', so I thought I'd just disassemble the frame of the old drive and put it on the new...

But: not the slightest Phillips screwdriver will integrate these screws; in fact, they look very special and I do not know how to remove...
Should I have any instrument/tool special and if so, where do I get it? Maybe I'm too blonde...

    Someone here who can help?

    Thanks in advance! lionesse62

    Hello

You need a special screwdriver to remove the module bay select (CD/DVD drive).
A 2 mm screwdriver Phillips, a pilot of flat blade screw 4mm and a LHSTIX of 4mm screwdriver.

I think you should visit a laptop computer technician if you n t have the right tool to remove these screws.

    However, if you want to remove the module bay select the Satellite Pro 6000 laptop then follow this instruction;

    (1) turn the computer
    (2) when the lock screw is in the locked position, remove the screws and fix it on the hole to keep her temporarily locking screws.
    (3) slide the lever and pull place the selectable bay module.

After you remove the DVD rom, you need to remove the connector and the connector cover. The connector cover is fixed with screws of black 2M2x8 liaison.
The frame is blocked with five super flat head white M2x3 screw.

As I said, if you can not remove these screws and then ask a technician for help.

  • Tecra M4: SelectBay DVD discs

    Hello

I wonder if anyone knows if Toshiba plans to bring a better burner SelectBay DVD PA3359E-1DV2 (Slim SelectBay DVD Super Multi Drive).

I would like a DVD burner in my Tecra M4, but this one, the best available seems very less specified by modern office standards. I would have thought that they could, at least, come out with a burner that writes at 4 x speed for all types of DVD disc. In case you're wondering the written PA3359E-1DV2 DVD + RW, DVD - RW and DVD - RAM. DVD - R 4 x and all the rest at 2 x - not very impressive, even if it's a SelectBay module!

The interesting thing about the SelectBay DVD burners is that PA3359E-1DV2 costs less (£160) it is less specified brothers PA3410E-1DV2 and PA3231E-1DV1 (£200 for each). Very confusing! Attention to these model numbers if you go shopping!

    Hello

As you know the Slim SelectBay DVD Super Multi Drive PA3359E-1DV2 is designed only for laptops and you can not compare a desktop readers with a portable PC.
You have to make a compromise.
I burn my DVD with a 2 x speed and for me it s enough.
But if you want to buy a DVD burner, I recommend you to buy an external.

ends. Remove and replace, do not just tight. For laptops, you can often clean power and
contacts data with a pencil eraser.

Some DVD players do not use the Windows default drivers so check with the manufacturer of system and
manufacturer of device to see if there is a firmware or drivers for your drive if necessary.

    ===============================

Step 2: You have disc problems as the CD/DVD is actually 4 discs in 1 case (CD & DVD
Burn and CD and DVD read). So it is not unusual for 1 or 2 operational so that other parts
    do it right.

Did you follow the Troubleshooting Guide for the reader who still does not work? There are
the entries in registry that the troubleshooter does not solve and those who "might" be the cause.

Check with your Maker system and a device for the two possible firmware updates and the
correct registry entries for your car.

as there will be other subkeys in these keys. Do not forget to ask specific keys involved as well as
    the parameters.

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Enum\IDE

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Hardware Profiles\0001\System\CurrentControlSet\Enum\IDE

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\ {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

You can probably find more info here and maybe even the exact registry for your CD/DVD settings
drive from someone with the same model.

Use DevManView to locate the CD/DVD in the registry (be careful and do a prior Restore Point)
nothing change) - find the DevManView device and then make a right click on it free in RegEdit.

DevManView - free - an alternative to the standard Windows Device Manager, which displays all the
devices and their properties in flat table, instead of the tree viewer

    I hope this helps.
